Xbox 360 Finally Getting Blu-ray

Over a dozen companies worked on VC-1. Not JUST microsoft. But sure they would like to take all the credit for it, just like they try to do with almost everything.....everything that succeeds of course.dxmcat

Secondly, Lost Odyssey is over hyped? It got a 7.5, and frankly... rocks despite that.

Thirdly, It's actually 4 dvds, with a supposed average playtime of 40-50 hours. If I have to get up every ten to twelve hours or so to change out the disc... I guess I'll have to do that. It's really NOT that big of an imposition.

microsoft said from the start that they would support blueray if it were to win the format war. you know whats funny? i dont recall lemmings making a big deala about sony adding an hardrive to the ps3.

i may of reworded this wrong . i m saying no one is demanding blu-ray on the 360 like the way dualshock was demanded. and hardrive was there from the begining it was never introduced later.

..BR has never been on the 360 so how can you measure demand? Sony pulled rumble for the PS3 after it's huge success on the PS2...Of course rumble was missed +120 Mil people used it..

its not hard to see if something is demanded. rumble for example was demanded. devs like kojima wanted rumble back fans actually wanted it back. i'm pretty sure if you went back to 06 threads some people were mad about rumble being gone. blu-ray on the 360 is just as easy to find also. how many times do you see lems make threads about wanting a blu-ray on there system how many devs say that they want a blu-ray player on the 360. next to none.

Besides BR for gaming is still a joke..Until the developers find a way to utilize that space without downloads to the HDD..Then it is still just redundant space

Plus the Blu Ray add on will probably be pretty expensive making buying a 360 plus the add on more expensive than buying just a PS3 in the first place.

Well this will be like the 2nd time 360 owners get shafted. First with the elite, now with this....I wonder how much it will cost.

Not that I would buy it. I already have a ps3, but I will probably just get an elite. And I was thinking about it and it sucks that the games wont be using bluray tech. They should have had it right from the start so that way it could be used for games too.

Meh. I could give less than a damn about Blu-Ray for the time being, but in the event I do begin to care, I have a PS3 for all my Blu-Ray playing needs. I'm definitely not buying this thing.

Funny the criticisms the PS3 recieved at launch - looks like it's paying off 2 1/2 years down the road... hehe.

Its true, I'm no fanboy but the stick PS3 got at its launch was ridiculous, about how unnecessary blu-ray is etc, yet here we are..

This doesn't bother me because I have blu-ray on my PS3, and if I am that way inclined HDDVD on my 360 =D

Some of the more tech. adept individuals will have to educate me about Blu-Ray or HD-DVD add-ons as I know absolutely nothing about them. How does that work with the 360? Is it still true HD if it is an external component, because I've never heard if the 360 has HD pass-through capability. Or, is the signal downgraded and then upconverted? Lastly, does such an add-on it even matter if you have a 360 without HDMI?

Sony doesnt use VC-1, other movie studios do and pay MS for that. IF MS does include blu ray they will have to pay Sony.

Btw, here's an update, Core no longer exists, its been replaced by the Arcade, same machine except you get some free LIVE arcade games and a bigger memory stick to save your games with.

Its about the games, not what runs them. When you finally get done waiting for your games on your system you will realize this.

No one is forcing you to buy any of the other sku's for any system, you buy what you can afford and if anyone with a 360 at home decides to go out and purchase this new Blu Ray unit, I am pretty sure they arent going to be worried about having to spend more money (I myself thought about purchasing PS3 for its great Blu Ray movie capabilities, now I've changed my mind).

Oh there is not doubt that this blu ray add-on/sku is only going to be made to give us 360 users a way to watch Blu Ray movies which is the definate format for movies now that HDDVD is dead. It WONT be for games, there is no need.

Yes, it will be for films and 360 devs will have to work with a smaller space but wont have to make mandatory installs on it, ps3 has a bit of an advantage there i guess.

Either way , Sony showed the way one more time. Took a big risk and brung innovation once more. First all laughed about it , now praise it. Im wondering how many $$$$ Sony will take if this is true. Btw tbh i doubt this is true , except if Bill gates pays a fortune.

As I said in another post, I bashed Sony for FORCING you to buy a very expensive movie player with their console just because they wanted to push BR. I still have the option with the 360.

Are you joking right? Sony forcing buy BR , and then again youre so happy about X360 that will got one? And if BR isnt that innovating why all this fuss about it? Wasnt DvD innovative VS VideoCD or CD capacities? I mean..you joking right?

I still have the option to buy a 360 console with no BR, PS3 owners never had that choice. If they wanted a Playstation 3, they had to spend at least $500 whether they had an HDTV or not just because Sony wanted to push their format. What is so hard to understand? And did I say I was happy about the 360 BR thing? Umm, no. I have a 1080p upscaler and my DVDs look fantastic, I couldn't care less about HD movies.

My point about Sony not being all that innovative is that they weren't the only kid on the block with an HD player, they are just the one who won. Besides, it is basically improved resolution, is it not? As I said, my upscaled DVDs look pretty close to HD programming, so I don't understand what is so great about HD formats. Is it so innovative that they forced you to buy their player?

How about this, you learn to read and actually comprehend what you read, then come back and debate. Until that day comes, dealing with you is pointless.
