What if you lend the game to a friend, he pays the fee to install it.. you'd have to buy the game again?
Good question. What if you lend the game to a friend, he pays the fee to install it.. you'd have to buy the game again?

[QUOTE="RR360DD"]And it just deletes the data (licence) allowing you to play the game obviously ... because you've sold it. Whats the issue.Bread_or_DecideSo you don't own the download on your own xbox one? Even PC users don't have this crap to put up with. You're saying that PC users sell their games and then can play them after they've sold it? You do know that there is no such thing as used games on the PC don't you?
"that the rumored Xbox One preowned activation fee will be £35 ($52). It is unclear if this fee will be an additional cost on top of the sticker price for secondhand games. " LOL Heil68I can't take it anymore.. X1 has there shot to convince me otherwise at E3... highly unlikely.. but this is some extreme bs coming from their end. PS4 is looking more and more the way to go if you want a console.
That's scary.
It seems that the Xbox Done is tracking your every move. With the mandatory Kinect watching your every move and the mandatory Internet connection to send your private footages to Microsoft.
And now this?
Good lord...
Cyberdot
That's OK because i own the rights to the name 'Gamer's Gone Wild' and when they want to post raunchy video's of gamers, I will sell them the rights for $2 million and 7.5% residuals....
[QUOTE="navyguy21"]How do you expect to be able to still play a game you sold? How is that not stealing? Its not deleting a game that you still have in your collection....PAL360
What happens if you, years later, decide to get the game again?
Then you insert the disc, it becomes authorised on your account again and you're free to play away lol It doesn't delete your achievements or saves.[QUOTE="navyguy21"]How do you expect to be able to still play a game you sold? Oh...then sorry for my misinterpretation! I thought your save games would be delected aswell.

Do achievements even stay unlocked? What about pre order specials like bonus characters or weapons, are those lost too? If so, why preorder ever? We just don't know the extend of the data being removed just yet.

From what I'm gathering your saved data is still there along with achievements and such, just the game data is deleted is all.

So you're not bothered by a company accessing your HDD and deleting files without your permission?
You'd be giving them permission when you sell the game lol Seriously what do you people expect? No, you wouldn't be able to do it anyway. The game gets registered to a new account. They can control it in their servers, allowing only the most recent registered owner to use that game.
Do they really have to access your files and delete it from your HDD? Is that the only way? Is that the right way?

Since the PS1 companies sold consoles at a loss. But they managed to profit (a lot) with games. That's no excuse man, on the contrary, that's a marketing plan.

They delete the license allowing you to play the game. So once you sell it, you can't play it. They don't delete save data or anything, so I don't see the issue.

jimmypsn
If he pays the fee, then he would have his own copy. Nothing will happen to your copy cuz its tied to your account.
But wouldn't Xbone know that it was YOUR copy that was lended ("sold"), to him (just like reselling)? Therefore, automatically erasing your data? It would be the same process as GameStop, unless GameStop actually registers the used copy to Microsoft..

The tech wasnt there to control these activities. The used games business was much smaller then. Crazy that MS doesnt want to spend the first 3 years of next gen not making a profit.MS needs to clarify all of this at E3 because all of this internet speculation and misinformation is exhausting....navyguy21They cant because its all true..All they say is we will share more information when the time is right..lol.. MS is a greedy asz company still trying to get money after we buy it..why the hell you guys should get more money for something we sell back to retail?..i hate selling used games to gamestop cuz they offer to buy it dirt cheap...and to top it off there will be a fee from MS to use that service ..fukc off M$..

Yes, because allowing something today is not a precedent to doing it to a greater extent tomorrow.
See DD and now the proposed used games fee.

That is like buying a washer and not allowing a friend to use it because the person you bought it from said not to. Like most goods, washing machines are sold for profit with at least a 100% markup. The more people who use it the sooner it will need servicing and parts replaced.[QUOTE="Cranler"][QUOTE="sherman-tank1"]So if you borrow that game from a friend you aren't allowed to play it? Not making a profit? That happened to the starting years of the 360 only because of the high failure rate. With the first Xbox because of the high HDD cost at the time. One thing was not planned, the other one was a bad plan.
All other consoles (PS1, 2, 3; Gamecube, etc., not the Wii since it was profitable hardware) were sold at a loss exactly to obtain more profit, by securing a larger consumer base, thus selling more games. If you sell your $400 console at a $800 price tag, how many people would buy it? How long each one would spend in games in the long term? If we sell 3x more consoles, at a endurable loss, could we profit more selling more games? Those are the right questions the marketing department asks before chosing the strategy, and you're missing the answers.
The profit margin of games is always their target.
