Xbox Live gets tons of new features, PSN gets none...

people would rather download movies to there PC than buy blu-rays cos it's cheaper, here in blighty hardly anyone buys blu-rays, it's cheaper to buy DVD's and upscale, like it or lump it, the entertainment industry is leaning towards digital distribution and MS are following a trend that SONY cannot stand against, also having SKY sports on the 360 will sell more 360's, everyone loves football in this country.delta3074

I can't wait for Last.fm, and the full 1080p video(which seems to be influenced by OnLive). I am a social gamer and there are times where I might spent more then 10 minutes talking in a Xbox Live Party rather then playing a game(I do that with Home as well). So Facebook and Twitter are right up my alley. Not to mention the ability to watch video with your friends is going to be sweet. At the sametime, Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy VII are so significant that the two digital downloads will generate a spike in sales for the Playstation Network.

When I heard that Final Fantasy VII was going to be released on the Playstation Network I knew for a fact that there would be a lot of people on Sony's side that hold that higher then some of the Xbox Live improvements. Rightfully so. I do hold that higher then Facebook and Twitter(which are still awesome). At the sametime since I already have two hard copies of FFVII(and now a digital version from the PSN); I still feel like the 1080p streaming video, Last.fm, and watching videos with friends is just better.

The Overlord 2 demo came out today for XBL, also there's a Fight Night 4 demo, Guitar Hero Smash, and Wolfenstein 3d XBLA free trial. And check out the XNA games section, they always bring out new games every day, and all of them have free trials.

It's good to see XBL getting features that are already accessible on both PC and PS3, not to mention they're free.

Streaming videos is also possible on the PS3, but requires a little work.

The Sky Feature Looks good.. I'm hoping we don't have to pay Extra.

i couldnt care about facebook twitter and last fm because i dont use any of them i dont watch films because of the download but full 1080p straight away now thats a great idea but as long as the games are coming and theyre good i couldnt be more happier with my 360:) ive had experience with psn sure it isnt as good but it does what its meant to do and it does it well

So why you're playing with Twitter I can browse any site I want, I use GIMP for photo-shop like image editing, write and work on documents in the included productivity suite. Oh and I'll lastly I'll like to leave you with one comment . . . Emulators run on linux . . nuff said.

This is the kind of attitude MS wants from us 360 owners, PAYING EXTRA for a service being offered for free on other systems and defend that by saying it is superior..

I personally pay for XBL, i have no 'problem' with that but I am not getting anything more/superior from what is offered by PC & PS3 for free..

For us Canadians, Last.fm has a 3$ a month subscription free to use the radio. For gold users, it's completely free. That alone is $36 of value. That almost pays for a year of live, let alone all of the other features.

Seems to me all of Sony's efforts with regard to PSN are going into adding more stuff for you to buy in PlayStation Home. On the Xbox Live side, we're seeing programmed content in the form of Xbox Live Primetime finally launching, 1080p movie and TV streaming, social networking withlast.fm, Twitter and Facebook, live TV with Sky Player in the UK (and rumors of Hulu in the US), Video Party (MST3k-style) and Games On Demand, cutting out the hated GameStop. People complain about multiple discs for Forza 3, ME2 and so on, but why does it matter when one can just download those gameslike on Steam?

Meanwhile on the PSN side, you've got picture sharing in Home (which you have to purchase virtual picture frames in order to use) and not much else. And PSN was lagging behind Xbox Live as it was.

You truly do get what you pay for with Xbox Live. It's rapidly getting to the point where an Xbox 360 with Xbox Live is the one box that will serve all of your entertainment needs.

I like how everyone has dodged the video party mechanic, which I personally thought was the best feature showed out of their new array of things.

He read the press release. But it looks you, and most of the other fanboys, didn't.

This isn't just Facebook on a console. "Heavily integrated" is more than just adjusting the dashboard to accomodate basic FB features. This step is to set up for future use. XBL will be using the Facebook Connect standard so game integration will be more seemless in the future.

Example: Tiger Woods 2010 on Xbox will use XBL's Facebook Connect feature to post photos, challenges and highlights from within the game.

That's the draw. But that's irrelevent because you can already do that with the PS3 and Wii, right?

Linux on the PS3 is worse than the oldest PC you could lay your hands on, complete waste of time.

I can't believe people even debate the whole Live vs PSN thing still, it's rediculous. Live is not only better but it's quite clearly developing at an even quicker rate. PSN is never going to catch up, especially if it stays free.

You try to bash Home but bring up facebook and twitter in your argument???

PS3 already has a web browser, so it can already do everything you just listed. It's just not fully intergrated into PSN. BTW all I really care about is great games, and it seems Sony is really delivering. Facebook, twitter??? Really? I never even had a myspace so why would I even care about those.

Anyone who thinks PSN is on par with XBOX Live has got to stop lying to themselves.

Every PS3 fans excuse is "It's good enough for me", but go on to say how it's on par or better than XBOX Live.

Yea let's all laugh at twitter and facebook when totally ignoring the fact about how many people ACTUALLY use those sites.

And bringing in the web browser as a counter, try watching the E3 presentation on both, you'll see it's got some good features compared to what you get on a browser.

Granted alot of people on this forum have more video games than friends, it doesn't mean you have to completely hate on the idea of bringing those to the XBOX.

1080P Instant streaming goes for everything as well as TV shows. Yea, lets all 1080P stream some shows on our PS3's, oh wait... You can't!

It's funny how the XBOX 360 is becoming the entertainment console of choice without a Bluray player isn't it?

I own a PS3 so don't get me wrong, but i'm sick of waiting for certain features on the PSN and having to accept it just because it's "Free". A couple years ago, you would think Sony ment top of the line, but you hop on their "Free" network and it isn't.

I rather pay to have certain features for the PSN rather than keep it the way it is.

It's about to be 2010 and I can't even talk on the mic with friends without having to leave a game.

I thought they were pretty lame features, I can just go on the PS3s web browser and check out facebook or twitter.
