It's not very likely that the xbox one and a half (if there will ever be one) is going to be a bigger jump from the xbox one, than the xbox one itself was from it's predecessor.
One team proposed a 4 TFlop XBox One, but the cloud BS won in the end. Also, this may be the target for the next generation XBox, and not the XBox One 1.5...
Given how much this proposed device would cost, MS would have an anchor pulling them down. Console gamers rail about how much more powa they want, but lose it over systems costing $500+ as well. Remember the OG 60GB PS3? People LOVED that price, and its power wasn't as ahead of the curve as this story. Frankly, while a gleeful minority would clamber all over such a device at whatever its pricepoint would be, I think it would hurt MS more than releasing a more affordable Neo-level device. Because it would be a product with a small market... PC gamers aren't going to "convert" for it, and console gamers are going to stick with affordable devices with lots of games and friends over expensive ones.
Oh, and people go on about how "hard" it will be for devs to have dual PS4/PS4Neo versions of every game, but with a power disparity like this there would simply be no X1 version of the new games. It wouldn't make sense. This new system would compete with / replace the X1 in a more absolute sense

Not that I believe this rumour, but it would be hilarious if the MS releases an Xbox which is significantly more powerful than PS4k (as they should imo).
I also think these halfway consoles can be more expensive as the regular ones as they are more of a luxury item.

Unless they go Polaris Vega with 64CU i don't see that happening,alto i am up for a new and stronger xbox one just like i favor a stronger PS4.
If people has being dumb enough to pay $100 more for a bigger HDD why not spent $150 and get a real upgrade.
And in other, similar news, Microsoft has actually sold 80,000,000 XB1s, doubling the sales of Sony's PS4. It turns out the justifiable calculations of about 15 million sold XB1s to date were gross underestimates. The reason MS remained mum on the sales numbers until now, according to one spokesperson for MS, was due to the company's desire to avoid gloating. I've contended a long way back that if there was going to be a new XBox, they'd likely be willing to take a significant loss on hardware to build brand reputation. I think the rumor is pretty far-fetched on the numbers, but I wouldn't be surprised if MS wants to bring a cannon to a gun fight if they are serious about staying in the console space. I like it :)
Even if the engineering behind this were feasible, it still wouldn't make sense, because that would mean developers would have to make their game for a supercomputer and an Xbox One at the same time. Games designed solely for the Xbox Next would have no hope of running on an Xbox One, which would be total madness from a business perspective.
It makes a lot of sense for Microsoft to treat this opportunity as a real "next gen" release. Sony is now stuck with the installed base of the original ps4. It would be wise on Microsoft's part to vastly overshadow sony, on a technical level.

This makes sense and I can see *something like this happening because MS won't really be making a console but a form fit PC with an xbox logo. .
Its the ONLY thing that makes sense for MS because they can't compete with Sony on a software/development front. Therefore... make a "console" that has adjusted settings and access to PCs library of game eliminating MS need to rely on exclusive MS games to push the platform.
With this MS could make their console as powerful as possible and gain more PC support because thir console is tied to PC at the hip
This seems highly unlikely, particularly for a mid generation "upgrade" system. However, I think it's important to remember that MS has traditionally offered very competitive hardware in generations past. The OG and 360 boxes rivaled strong gaming PCs upon their release. If anyone has the resources to sell powerful hardware at a signifcant loss, it's MS. Will they? I guess we'll find out soon enough.
