I'm not sure I really need the XB1S for now, but I do need a new controller, if they're doing $150 trade ins for Xbox Ones at GameStop just toward the 2TB XB1S, but if they offer that for the $300 500GB model I might, after all I need a new controller for one because I'm moving further into unmanageable stick drift on my controller. That'd be at least $60, so taking my $150 trade, add $60 for the controller I'd of bought anyways, the difference on an XB1S upgrade would be about $90. Maybe the Microsoft Store will offer an equal or better promotion in the coming weeks as the 500GB/1TB models release.
Or maybe what I need is a new controller. They promised new design has sturdier analog, wasn't quite sure what the improvements are. It's not like my controller had an issue with the grip rubbing off like on PS4 controllers. My problems with the sticks are mechanical, in the modules, hopefully that's addressed. Most my stick drift problems are fixed by blowing down into the housing of the affected analog. I've come to the conclusion the stick drift comes from the rubbing off of the plastic under the thumbsticks when the thumbsticks rotate around and against the edge guard for the module. It doesn't look like much but on very used controllers you can see that line from playing, and that comes off as plastic dust from the frictions. So, plastic dust eventually seeps down under, blocking the sensor on the analog module. I could be wrong, but from the looks of it the modules detect motion on the outside of the module by measuring rotation of the axis with external sensors, making them vulnerable to such dust accumulation under the module housing. That to me seems to be why to avoid stick drift I must always blow down into there before playing and on occasion while playing. Or, maybe it's not dust from that, maybe it's just that accumulated funk that seems to make its way into things, like when you open a cellphone open even though you haven't opened it since the day you bought it and it's all kind of funky inside? Maybe it's something like that, I dunno, air seems to take care of it. Anyhow, I want that new controller, I hope they sell it seperately so I can get it if I don't put down for an XB1S.
