I would not be so hasty. There are a lot of people re-buying for an S Model and the thing has been on preorder for the better part of two months. The sales, at least for this month, will be strong for the S model. Microsoft was also very smart in giving the S model an incremental upgrade in the hardware instead of the typical mini-model revision we tend to get in a half-gen. This means that buyers looking for a cheap used XBone will have to decide if it is worth waiting for an upgraded model or settle for the price of the original model.
The only thing to be extrapolated from this position in the sales race, and can only be extrapolated if it remains low from now on, is that the S Model has not greatly changed the demand curve for the XBox brand name. After all, the Bone was teetering in and out of the top 100 before the S model was announced. It is reasonable to expect a big surge in sales from current owners wanting to upgrade. It is looking unreasonable to expect some kind of resurgance of the XBox brand in the console space as a result of that.
I bet there are a lot of people buying for the 1st time as well. Why do you cows always have to try and spin any MS news into something bad?
Because there is literally no evidence of this happening, but a mountain of evidence people are retreading.
