So... Do Lems really believe that Microsoft is going to dedicate 35+ million TB to cloud storage?

Xbox Live offers Xbox One unlimited storage space in the cloud for all Xbox Live members to store numerous types of Xbox Live content, including your profile, games, Achievements and entertainment. This content is stored and saved in the cloud so you can automatically access it anywhere, anytime, no matter where you are

xboxiphoneps3

i highly doubt they will save full games to the cloud, more so probably a small portion of a game or some kind of thing where it authenticates you have the game and you go from there regardless.. this is pretty cool from M$oft

The direct quote says games, so until Msoft come out and say "hey, no. No you can't save full games to the cloud" you can.

I plan on downloading all my games with my PS4 and Xbox One, so if I don't have to spend $100 on an external HDD for the two that would be pretty damn cool.

Well someone else should check behind me, but in regards to Azure capacity per account:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/cloud/gg663909.aspx
7. Storage Capacities

  • A singe Storage Account can be up to 100TB in size. This is a hard limit. A single subscription can have 5 storage accounts. This limit is not fixed and more accounts can be requested via customer support.
  • Blobs come in two flavours, Bock and Tables. A Block Blob can be up to 200GB in size. A Table Blob can be up to 1TB.
  • A Table is a grouping of Entiries. A Entity is made up of Properties. A single  entity can hold up to 255 properties for which the combined size of all of the properties in an entity cannot exceed 1MB.
  • A Queue contains Messages. There is no limit to the number of Messages a Queue can support beyond the limits of the Storage account. A message within a queue cannot exceed 8KB.
  • Drives are handed as Page Blobs and so can be up to 1TB in size

Are you a moron? What upside would saving a game to the cloud have? Its identical to what they already have on their servers for digital downloads. Its would be quite literally the same thing as deleting your gaplicate a feature that is already there?

I think you're missing the point. There's no reason to save a full game on 'the cloud', since it's already there by virture of being available digitally. You'd gain nothing by storing your game on the cloud. The only point where there's a benifit here is when we're looking at personalized data (your personal save games, your personal screenshots, video clips of your gameplay.

Which, barring a rare case of a mass amount of gameplay clips, is a minimal amount of data. As in, a small investment from MS that does not actually constitute "unlimited storage" as anything more than trying to hype up the feature as something bigger than it is.

I don't want to own any discs whether it be music, movies or video games they should all be digital. Both consoles support day one downloads where you can play with a partial download, hell if I can get through this gen without buying any discs I'll do it.

Sounds like all your data, games included. Cool.

GravityX

You wouldn't save your game installs on the cloud, which is what would be a real difference maker. A save file or settings file is rather small -- it would take years to fill up 1 gb with those alone. Install files are what take up the space and you'd never want those on the cloud.

Remember the idea of logging into your friends Xbox One and accessing your games library. This stuff was built into the Xbox One from the beginning. So I think it applies to full games. Of course I could be wrong.

That could potentially be very laggy and an unpleasant experience, but I'll wait for more details. I would imagine you could log in at a friends house and DL the game to their HD because streaming it just doesn't seem like a great option -- not with how certain ISPs work at the moment and throttle high data users. We'll see.

Okay... Then buy games digitally. Its already a supported feature for both consoles. To my knowledge. both consoles allow you to re-download your purchases at any time as well already. Its exactly the same as the concept your propose. All this concept here does is use more data room to do the exact same thing. Which I assure you MS isn't stupid enough to actually do for no gain.

now does sony follow suit??   it looks like Microsoft has been making very good news lately.     Keep up the good will.    dat infinite harddrive and 500gb hDD >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> dat removable ps4 HDD.      cloud never loses.

finalstar2007

Sounds to me its more about saving Game save data and not actually having a 15GB game saved up on the cloud, currently Sony does that and been doing it for few years via PS+ as you can upload game saves into the cloud without having to worry about losing them on the HDD.

PS4 $399 with 500 removable HDD ( that can be upgraded easily to a cheap 1TB HDD) >>> XboxOne $499 with un-removable HDD's

XboxOne still terrible

can you save audio files?   can you save pictures, movies, media to that cloud on PSN unlimited?   Just wondering.

it probably was the kinect making them laugh in the picture.   the distance of the 3 guys in the middle of table to what they are looking out is about 10 feet.    and the Kinect can recognize a fingertip from that distance.    but seriously NSA?    i dont even give time to that, nobody is watching me through kinect 2.0.   or  you, cause you will get the xbox one cause you know its great.

So, you are a moron. How enlightening. There is literally only one difference between the already made method of downloading a game and having a cloud storage for those identical save files... That is that the latter takes up more storage room. Its not like the system can use cloud storage in anyway. The data on there has no ability to be used by the system itself. Its quite literally the same thing as the current method used for distributing games digitally.

Makes no sense at all, if your at your friends house and he doesnt have the game installed on his xb1, you still have to download the game from the cloud, its not going to magically appear on your console instantly... Sounds exactly like Steam, sign in anywhere and play your games anywhere just have to download the game.

Theyre not going to save millions of copies.of the same game full games to the cloud

[QUOTE="xboxiphoneps3"] Bro you make absolutely no sense... Why would they store the full game on the cloud? xboxiphoneps3

because you can?   id save to where ever i wanted, and knowing all are there for the rest of my life.

Makes no sense at all, if your at your friends house and he doesnt have the game installed on his xb1, you still have to download the game from the cloud, its not going to magically appear on your console instantly... Sounds exactly like Steam, sign in anywhere and play your games anywhere just have to download the game.

Theyre not going to save millions of copies.of the same game full games to the cloud

overall its a nice feature, i would probably save games on my HDD or a 100 gig stick.   i really hope you can upload videos of yourself, your achievements, your videogame saves, and everything to the cloud.

Is Sony going to offer Free Unlimited Hard Drive space or do you need to be a Playstation Plus member?

So this is going to function exactly the same way as it does on 360 but without a limit?  Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the only tangible benefit cloud saves?  Theoretically you could install a game to the cloud, but then you're stuck with the limitations that carries and streaming games is wholly unsatisfactory.  Am I missing something?  Because this doesn't seem like a big deal to me.

If you can store movies and music to the cloud for streaming, that'd be worth something....

now does sony follow suit??   it looks like Microsoft has been making very good news lately.     Keep up the good will.    dat infinite harddrive and 500gb hDD >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> dat removable ps4 HDD.      cloud never loses.

XBOunity
Not really, it's limited to game saves, which take up very minimal room when compared to games, demos and other things like movies and music which people have saved on their consoles With games becoming bigger in size I'd much rather have an easily replaceable HDD than unlimited cloud saves.

I've yet to run out of space on any console. Can you install games to the cloud and run from it? "Not a bad perk to have, as it eliminates some of the limitations of a physical hard drive (but arguably has some issues of its own)" I want to see those limitations before I judge, but if you cant *install* games to it and *run* from the it then to me it would be useless.

The PS4 will have access to a cloud computing service, so why shouldn't they be able to offer something similar or the even the same?

Their two cloud services are not the same.
