[QUOTE="lowe0"][QUOTE="tagyhag"]Now that would be VERY cool. Shame no console players will use it because "I'M PLAYING THE GAME THE WAY THE DEV WANTED ME TO PLAY!"menes777

Remember, everyone, if you can't conclusively prove that someone's preference is wrong, just repeat it mockingly.

LOL oh boy here we go.  That line is used so often to show that mods are not an advantage.  It has nothing to do with preference.  It's when consolites can't think of any real argument so they resort to that and it means nothing.  It's a pointless argument.

No, I actually prefer games to be as pure and unadulterated as possible. For legacy games, I went so far as to build a 3dfx/Aureal PC (with spares to keep it running). So no, it's not just for the sake of argument.

[QUOTE="clyde46"][QUOTE="lowe0"][QUOTE="clyde46"] Equally, they can't prove that mods ruin games.

That would be because it's entirely an individual preference. I can explain that I like authenticity in classic games, but if others want modified versions, my preference doesn't impact that at all.

If its an individual preference, then why do console users claim otherwise?

They do?

That's funny that no one was mocking your preference, but only the phrase that consolites used in DC against mods.

That situation is unique to you, for another user building a legacy PC is not an option for them.

A lot of users on this board have claimed that mods ruin games yet when its announced that a console is going to get mods they change their tune and suddenly mods are awesome. Thats not called personal preference, thats called flip flopping.

I dont see this ever happening in the truest sense of a game mod, not on a closed model console.

Personally I dont give a toss. I have a dedicated gaming PC and I never mess with mods because I dont have fun doing it, its too much like work for me. I know a lot of people have a blast and thats cool but its not for me. Even something like garys mod I got on a steam sale, I played with it for 15 minutes and realized I was not enjoying it. I like building things and being creative using my hands, software wise I dont care for it.

I dont even use mods really. If I buy a game I buy it because I want to play that game, when Im done with it I go on to another game and play it.

[QUOTE="superclocked"][QUOTE="rjdofu"]Holyshit that would be HUGE!tormentos

Holyshit, Tormentos is posting something positive about the Xbox One! :P j/k

Mods are great is impossible to deny that, the PS3 supported mods but only 1 game came and allowed the feature UT 3 which even allowed PC mods to even run on PS3.

I wish sony and MS would support this, but i see it as all talk no substance from both sides, the PS3 already did it,but the whole DLC for money crap kill it,mods will compete directly with DLC which some game houses like EA and many others will not like.

It's never going to be widely supported unfortunately due to many mods rivaling or surpassing paid dlc's.. Why get a new DLC often times (especially the milking ones that add new skins or other such things) when you can get them for free with mods? And for the people saying mods are bad, or they don't need them.. Your an idiot.. There are games that are over 13 years old that are still alive today with active communities and updates... Compared to you dusting off your old game and playing it over again, there are people playing that same old game with constant updates and addon's for years now.. Why any one wouldn't at very least would like to the option, is beyond me..

MS might win the next gen if this news is true. Mods is one of the biggest reasons why games are superior on PC (imo).rjdofu

modding a game using a controller... well that doesn't sound fun now does it.

To work on a console a dev would have to provide pretty extensive modding tools. Not sure how this would work ....blue_hazy_basic
It worked on the PS3. Unreal Tournament 3 allowed mods which was the main reason I bought that game for, but it wasn't as exciting as I expected. I love mods though.

[QUOTE="clyde46"][QUOTE="lowe0"][QUOTE="clyde46"] That is not what this topic is about.

Then what IS it about?

Mods on the Xbox One, it says it in the title.

It's within System Wars. The purpose is to compare and debate platforms. What's the point in discussion if we're not going to discuss what it adds to the value proposition?

Value has nothing to do with this thread. It is a report that mods are being considered for the X1. Once again, I refer you to the title of this topic.
