Not a good spot in sales for sure. well they closed the gap in the NA market, they still are getting killed in every other market. especially EU and Japan. At this pace even with the scorpio they are looking at around 60mil for the gen unless scorpio becomes more popular then we expect. Sony should see around the 100mil mark of the Wii U

that makes no sense. Devs make 4k games for PC still despite the Pro/BX1/PS4 not being able to run them. with scorpio it'll be the same as the PC ports. Maybe if PC wasn't an option you'd have a point but even then Devs seem to push higher resolutions on better hardware regardless of the sales. A better looking game and higher tech specs draws in sales. They wouldn't want to ignore a userbase of 26 million people.

I love Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft, Sega, Panasonic, Atari, Commodore, Amiga, PC, and so many more. I just love gaming, but do not like fanboys you constantly attack one platform for bullshit reasons! All systems can play games and all systems you can have fun playing those games no matter the platform. So I root for all systems to have massive sells because I understand it sucks not to have competition. I wish for the days when we had 4 to 5 platforms to choose from!

The sad thing is that I think the analyst was a bit generous. I actually think the Xbone is below 26 million, more like 24 million. Unfortunately, we'll never know the real numbers since MS has resorted to hiding their numbers out of embarrassment.

The Xbox One is an excellent console, at least the S version, I didn't have the original version though.
The problem was that Microsoft really f***d up at the beginning of this generation, that DRM s**t, the 24/7 internet connection required, the forced Kinect, the lower performance compared to the PS4 and the higher price were a real issue for most people, me included, I was looking forward to move from the 360 to the One but those 5 things made me change my mind and went with the PS4 instead and I am sure I am not the only one who did the exact same thing. When they tried to change things around it was too late, the One S was the console that they should have launched in the first place, I feel in love when I first saw it and decided to give Microsoft another chance (of course Gears 4 and Horizon 3 had some influence too ha ha ha ha).
I don't think the console is a complete failure, I love my One, but I think the poor and stupid decisions from Microsoft at the beginning killed the console before it was launched!

Lol. I currently own a shitty yet expensive HP laptop and a Mac. I have owned really up to date gaming PC's in the past though. Back when the MMX chip was a new and hot thing to let you know how long ago it was. I never got on with them. I have a job in electronics and computers and have to battle them daily at work. They are the enemy. Consoles are for fun and couch sitting and or beer drinking.

Regardless of the estimated low count on hardware sales of Xbox One, if MS can keep Xbox Live Service viable then MS is in good shape. Xbox Live Service fails then MS consoles fail.
MS just need to get the ball rolling with the UWP and pump out more games within the next couple of years and keep upgrading xbox live.

So I'm guessing people will be in denial until ubisoft and EA reveal their estimates to be the same like last time? These numbers are terrible. If they were great, MS would be confirming them and making proud PR statements about them. Instead they're trying their hardest not to mention them. There's no way to spin it.

I get that its not the blockbuster success that the PS4 is, but there is no chance in hell that the PS4 loses sales unless Sony loses their minds and screws it all up.
All the Xbox One has to do is hold the line until the next generation when Microsoft can try again. Rather then chasing for a crown that they won't win, Microsoft's efforts should be focused on building up their first-party portfolio and holding off Nintendo's attempts at a comeback.
The PS3 sold poorly for most of its lifespan, and Sony's response was to beef up their first-party studios and ensure the PS4 did not repeat the same mistakes.

No, the numbers aren't staggering by any means but they are decent enough to ensure third-party support from most developers.
All Microsoft needs to do is hold the line. Even if they sell 7 million units each year for the next 3-4 years, they will end up in the 50 to 60 million range by the end of the generation.

Xbox 360, Wii, PS3, PS4, PS2 are all consoles that sold higher in the first three years than Xbox One. Beyond that, comparisons get murky- we either get in the territory of consoles that outright pretty much 'failed' (as with Wii U, Xbox, Gamecube), or we go so far back, when the console market was so small, that comparisons become untenable and meaningless (as with N64, SNES, Genesis).
