@i_p_daily: I have never tried VR, but I get dizzy easily and that is my biggest worry if I will feel sick playing it. Do you know if that is a issue with it? I have heard it can be.
Lol, dude. You're talking to the wrong person. The dude has never played a VR game in his life.
OK, Sorry, could you please answer my question, I do really want to know. Thanks.
No problem. Yes, VR can make you sick, VERY sick if you're not careful. Your brain has to get used to it, but it really depends on the person. Some people feel nauseous right away, others after a while, and others not at all. If you play it and feel nauseous, stop playing. Take a rest, go back to it the next day. Play in little spurts until you begin get uncomfortable each time, then stop. Having a fan blowing on you helps immensely. Don't play on an empty stomach. Just take your time. After a while your brain will adapt, and you will no longer feel sickness. This is how it worked with me. I got nauseous here and there at first, but in time I adapted. Now I never get sick, not even a little bit. I can handle any VR game with ease.
And these reasons are why VR will NEVER go mainstream, or "the future" that TC insinuates. VR is never going to surpass screen gaming.
The simple fact health effects is a factor, you already lost mass potential demographics.
If you need to see at history, they've attempted to make 3D go mainstream many times since the 80's, and every time they end up being just fads that whimper away until the next time they try to bring it back and subsequently fail again. There's always going to be the fewer people that say "wow 3D is super cool and immersive" whereas the rest will say "wow this is straining my eyes and giving me a headache, I'll stick with 2D."
VR will always fall into that place because health effects are a huge factor that turn people away from these things.
It's neat some people are enthusiasts about VR and seemingly less prone to health effects, but let's not pretend you're the vocal majority here and it's not going to be the future of gaming as TC claims.
VR actually has way more potential in other industries, not gaming.
