@tormentos:

Of course they will said it because it's based on DX12 API. LOL Sony has their own implementations for their own API for PS5. Like it was for PS4. This smells badly like DX12 deja vu 6 years ago. OMG, Xbone has DX12, what PS4 has!!?? LOL

Anyway, regarding what MS said in Xbox Wire :

“AMD’s latest RDNA 2 architecture delivers a significant increase in performance and efficiency over previous architectures”.

Here they are talking about performance per watt and being able to clock very high etc.

“as well as adding new hardware acceleration capabilities including hardware accelerated DirectX Raytracing, Mesh Shaders, Sampler Feedback and Variable Rate Shading.”

Here they are talking about hardware made to accelerate Direct X software just like I said.

You can easily find on the net Sonys patents about VRS, mesh rendering for their own PS5 API.

The struggle is real.

RDNA 2 => Series X|S

RDNA 1.5 => PS5

Initiate damage control protocol. 😂

I don't know how much of a difference its going to make. It all depends on implementation of the various technologies. If all of the tech is utilized it can create both visual and performance differences. Contrary to what some believe, Sony doesn't have the engineers to create something better. This is why both companies are working with AMD because GPU development is hard and expensive. MS has the upper hand with R&D only because of its DirectX.

@pc_rocks: The diagram clearly shows the custom cache scrubbers as part of the GPU, and yes I/O has a lot to do with the GPU otherwise it can't access the main memory pool. It sounds like maybe you are not quite sure about how GPUs work. If you're talking specifically about storage then direct access to storage is also important.

Please back up your claim that "MS has pretty much the same architecture for I/O"

Irrelevant as told earlier. The diagram says: Custom I/O Unit not GPU or RDNA architecture. So, where's the proof?

No, I don't have to prove anything. You made the claim the onus is on you to back it up. If you want to discuss comparison of MS I/O or how I/O isn't part of GPU then create a new thread.

Now that it’s official Xbox Series X power gap has increased. How long before Sony comes out with a PS5 Pro?

With Xbox Series X being full RDNA 2 and all its hardware features we could see a 40% or more increase in performance advantage for the Xbox Series X.

I’ll wait.

@phlop_spencer: Well I mean it’s just a fact. Xbox Series X already has a 30% power advantage in hardware alone. Now add the fact that its full RDNA 2, I would assume that is another 10-20% performance advantage right there. With the PS5 being basically just RDNA 1 and hardware ray tracing and old geometry primitive shading engine.

It really is a shame Sony pooped the bed on hardware.

What does RDNA 2.0 do to make the series s less of a pos?

I'm curious. Is it Full RDNA 2.0 because RDNA 2 implements DXR? That's definitely something I expect to be missing from Sony's APU.

But here is what I do know. PS5 is not full RDNA 2. Missing quite a few key features. Once developers get familiar with the technology, we will see massive advantages. Like I said, Xbox Series X is now more powerful than previously thought. Don’t you agree?

Please list the features PS5 is missing and then tell me how it will improve the Series S from a total lump of dung to something worthwhile.

I'll wait. And lol if you think i would ever waste money on that trash.

Also, I’m sorry that only the series s fits your budget and you have to project your inadequacies onto me.

You’re kind of a broken Record lol. Dont worry, I got this.

It (PS5) is missing RDNA 2 features.

Hopefully this finally cleared things up for you. You can ask the same question as many times as you want. Answer will be the same. PS5 is missing RDNA 2 features.

Can we all calm down, sit for a second and agree on the fact that Sony's build is as poorly thought out as MS's Xbone in 2013? Can we do that? Investing into an ssd that gives you zero advantages is just as stupid as investing into the kinect.

Now, the PS5 is missing at least half of an RDNA and three tflops. How are we supposed to compete against a powerful XSX? DF will prove to the world that the PS5 is so far behind, and all i can do is bitch on forums about DF being paid by MS to bash the PS5. Really hate my situation as a cow atm. Stresses me out.

The machine is not poorly thought out. Its just not as power focus or has a feature rich GPU like the Series X. The focus on the SSD is not even comparable to the Kinect.

But you're the one so insecure, you're doing a whataboutism about the Series S because you can't directly take on the Series X. When the price of the Series S is cheap and the expectations are not high, you're really not proving anything.

I asked what features were missing on the ps5 from RDNA 2.0 and he just posts the same garbage screen shot with broken English from some Twitter fanboy.

Gears 5 runs dynamic 4k from 1080p to 2160p on the S X. Am I supposed to be impressed?

I’m asking for some substantiated information, not MS bullshit marketing regurgitation. If RDNA 2.0 was so impressive why is the series s, a full RDNA 2.0 system, a 720p machine?

@phlop_spencer: LOL still complaining and asking the same question. You cry as much as my 3 year old.

https://www.aroged.com/2020/11/ps5-digital-foundry-confirms-the-lack-of-full-support-for-the-rdna-2-architecture/

PS5 is missing a lot of key RDNA 2 features. We are seeing XSX using a variety of RDNA 2 features in games. As Alex from DF says so far after testing the PS5 and there games, they have yet to see PS5 take advantage of most RDNA 2 features.

Alex also suspects games will look noticeably better on XSX compared to the PS5 as developers get used to the new tech in XSX since it’s a more advanced machine. His words not mine. All though I will say XSX is a far superior console in every way to the PS5. Power, speed, ram, design, features. XSX is better.

@BlackShirt20:

https://www.google.ca/amp/s/www.eurogamer.net/amp/digitalfoundry-2020-gears-5-xbox-series-x-upgrade-tested

“To get the basics out of the way first, Gears 5 retains the use of dynamic resolution scaling, but based on pixel counting a selection of shots, it seems to average out at around 1728p during gameplay, with full 2160p manifesting in less busy situations. Interestingly, the lower bounds is still 1080p - just as it was on Xbox One X - but it's extremely uncommon for resolution to hit this level.“

So RDNA 2 = dynamic 4k with hitting 1080p not uncommonly on XSX?

My 3 year old laptop ran this game on ultra at average 70-80fps at 1440p with no downscaling to 1080p. I guess this is what Xbox owners think is the future? Oh and 720p on the series s

@phlop_spencer: PS5 is not RDNA 2. You can cry like my 3 year old child when he doesn’t get what he wants, but that won’t change the facts. Thank god XSX has full RDNA 2 or it would be running all its exclusives at 1440p like Spiderman and Demon Souls on PS5 since it only has RDNA 1 features.

Because it's a low end GPU. :-S

RDNA 2 is just an architecture. Was pascal bad because it was in the GTX 1050 Ti, or was it good because it was in the GTX 1080Ti?

This is really dumb.

@phlop_spencer: You literally don't know how to read , it says it never drops to 1080p like it does on xbox one X... And when it drops is only 20% less of 4K resolution.

Lol I dont know how to read?? Read my quote again. is every lem just this braindead?

”interestingly, the lower bounds is still 1080p - just as it was on Xbox One X - but it's extremely uncommon for resolution to hit this level.“

Oh, I see, yeah, my mistake. Looking back at the tests, it is merely 'on par' - not faster. Average frame-rate on Ultra test using 2080 = 44.7fps. The Series X using Ultra produced 43.8fps (at fixed 4K native). So, yes, 2080 is slightly faster there.

Full fixed 4k native producing the same fps as 2080. A card that costs as much if not more than the full console.

Without being built to use the features in the console.

What GPU do you have?

Still better than the PS5 can do.
