If you ignore the PS2. Just like the 360 is the best console if you ignore the PS3 :P
the xbox was better then the PS2 in a lot things, like graphics, hardware reliability, online, shooters and WRPG's Yes, but ps2 had the best library last gen, it wasn't even a competition by the end of 05-06. This gen it's alot more close for a real comparison. Xbox had halo and ninja gaiden, that's abou it. It also had pc ports that were better on pc anyways, and the rest of the library was nothing special.[QUOTE="ohthemanatee"][QUOTE="Gamtrix"]the xbox was better then the PS2 in a lot things, like graphics, hardware reliability, online, shooters and WRPG's Yes, but ps2 had the best library last gen, it wasn't even a competition by the end of 05-06. Indeed, the PS2 was miles ahead of it's console competition.
with that being said, the Xbox had more then just Halo and Ninja Gaiden (Panzer Dragoon Orta, Jet Set Radio future and Shenmue 2 come to mind) and it also had superior multiplats, which really came in handy when said multiplats did not have a PC version
[QUOTE="FIipMode"]
But best console isn't decided by best graphics you know that, it's about the exclusives it has.
Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Ninja Gaiden Black , Forza,Fable, Panzer Dragon Orta, Psychonauts, Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge, The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, Jade Empire, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Chaos Theory etc. There may be 1 or 2 umm PC/Xbox games there but who cares right ?:P
Good games but not nearly enough to make it better than the ps2 or hell even the cube and dramcast.[QUOTE="SecretPolice"]Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Ninja Gaiden Black , Forza,Fable, Panzer Dragon Orta, Psychonauts, Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge, The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, Jade Empire, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Chaos Theory etc.[QUOTE="FIipMode"]

Good games but not nearly enough to make it better than the ps2 or hell even the cube and dramcast.a lot of the good dreamcast games were later ported to othe systems, with that being said the Xbox had a better library then cube (never owned one) and the dreamcast (I own one, though I think it's a bit overrated)

Two of those games you mentioned are just dreamcast ports. Ps2 just has a massive high quality exclusives, plus all the other multiplats and a heck of a lot of weird fun games.[QUOTE="edo-tensei"][QUOTE="SecretPolice"]Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Ninja Gaiden Black , Forza,Fable, Panzer Dragon Orta, Psychonauts, Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge, The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, Jade Empire, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Chaos Theory etc.

The dreacast is only overrated when it comes from a massive sega fan, the console however was very well made but unfortunately sega couldn't continue it. Cube had better games than the xbox imo.Xbox 1 was by far the best system last gen imo.... maybe one of my favorite systems of all time, toe to toe with the dreamcast. Halo 1, KOTOR 1&2, Ninja Gaiden, Morrowind, Fable 1 etc.
It had that same dreamcast feel with lots of new and inventive titles, devs trying new things etc.
I dunno, maybe i just love the underdogs... but DC and Xbox 1 were probably the highlights of my console gaming career.

EDIT: the PS2 is also overrated imo

actually, the biggest sega fan I know of (panzer zwei) underplays the dreamcast
God forbids people have opinions? But yes, ps2 was vastly superior.Just goes to show you no matter how widely accepted something is, there will still be people in denial.

It may have had the best hardware, but the ps2 had the best game library of the consoles last gen. Which is kind of ironic for this gen.

Your not a Sony fanboy are you:P...*checks previous post history* oh...nvm.
Not the best for games, but certainly best for graphics and probably online too.locopathoYeah, I love Nintendo but the GameCube's only stong point was good first-party games. The PS2 actually had, IMO, the worst graphics, but there were too many amazing games on it to ignore.
[QUOTE="coolkid93"]If it is the best console last gen then how come I don't see it on the shelves anymore? The ps2 is still selling and doing pretty good.DraugenCP
Because Microsoft took all original Xbox games from the shelves to encourage people to buy the 360.
And spend more money. It wasn't in my opinion. If it is the best console last gen then how come I don't see it on the shelves anymore? The ps2 is still selling and doing pretty good.
So since the Wii has been selling ridiculously well it is the best console? I was stating that the ps2 is still out.[QUOTE="blue_hazy_basic"][QUOTE="Gamtrix"]PS3 graphix king! (PC doesn't count) PS3 best exclusives! (PC & Wii don't count!) PS3 best library (multiplats and PC don't count!!) And before you say this board includes the PC then why aren't you calling out the TC? I'm just going by his rules. If you ignore the PS2. Just like the 360 is the best console if you ignore the PS3 :P

By definition, yes.
A video game console is an interactive entertainment computer or modified computer system that produces a video display signal which can be used with a display device (a television, monitor, etc.) to display a video game. The term "video game console" is used to distinguish a machine designed for consumers to buy and use solely for playing video games from a personal computer, which has many other functions, or arcade machines, which are designed for businesses that buy them and then charge others to play.
Personal computer = PC, just incase you didn't know.
[QUOTE="SecretPolice"]Hmm, is the PS3 the best b/c IYO it has the console games with the best grx this gen. ? Yes, best graphics, best hardware, most complete and varied high quality lineup, also most consistent console this generation.[QUOTE="Gamtrix"]

Best graphics for Exclusives of course, not multiplatform
how so? a lot of people have had differing opinions. most of that comes from personal preference. just wondering, have you gotten around to that pic yet? It's funny how this thread backfired and the TC just let it spiral out of control. He must of though, oh well, I'll try next time :P

Best graphics and best online. That's about it. The controller was a piece of crap and the hardware wasn't the most well built thing ever.
In my opinion the Xbox was the worst. PS2 was the best, even though Wind Waker being on Gamecube makes me want to say it's the best, Gamecube 2nd, Xbox last.

i would agree the first "duke" controller was awful. they did improve it on further iterations.[QUOTE="LegatoSkyheart"]

False, Nvidia didn't give it a chance, but please come back and post a time or proof that if sony had been in the same position they would have kept chugging along with the gpu in their system making it so they couldn't make a profit or lower the price of the system affectively or lower its size. Please Log In to post.
