Yahtzee concludes Resistances 3 >>> Gears 3

Well...Looks like we finally know what series is the best.

Yahtzee is a funny guy with some interesting points, but he clearly has a very specefic taste in games. Icompleatley disagree with him in this matter (and this is coming from a guy that loves the resistance series), and have to say that the Gears series is better. But, on the other hand he was spot on when it comes to other games (like the first Duke Nukem Forever review).

Resistance is like the pinnacle of forgettable series.

Critically and commercially gears 1 faired better then the entire Resisitance series. Yahtzee be damned.

I haven't played Gears 3 (or any other Gears game), but R3 is awesome! I can see why they like it so much.

I agree with him, people just buying into the hype. I did for all 3 of them.

Just look at the number drop in people playing online since it came out, Cliff says it defines with Xbox like Halo but yet Halo has waaay more people playing a year later then Gears does a week after it came out. If you like the game then good for you....it's just over hyped.

Yahtzee makes his conclusions based soley on singleplayer... Multiplayer had always been the staple for both series. While Gears single Player is very good, Resistance's is better.. However Gears 3's Multiplayer absolutely OBLITERATES resistance 3's multiplayer, because resistance 3's mutliplayer is absolute garbage that they put absolutely no effort in. Most phoned in thing ever.. Sure Resistance 2's had a lot of issues, but at the very least it was ambitious and creative where as this one is just a COD knock off with some resistance style perks and that is it. Not to mention its horrible lag and bad maps.

Gears 3's multiplayer is so good I honestly think it is the best shooter on the system. It is the complete package because it's single player is awesome as well with really big environments, friendly A.I that is actually useful, a somewhat engaging story, good level design, with 4 player co-op as well, and the Horde mode has made AWESOME tower defense like additions, beast mode is tons of fun as well, awesome maps, balanced weapons, I could go on and on, but Gears 3 destorys resistance 3 in almost every way except for resistance having the SLIGHTLY better singleplayer.

I always wondered why people go with a couple of "well known people" opinions and try to used that as the definite rule of whats best.

Resistance 3 may be lowest rated Resistance game and the worst selling entry in the series(significantly behind Gears 3), but don't worry cows, that one guy yahtzee likes it better than Gears 3. That means something, right? Right?vashkey

In terms of technicality, aside from R3 (since they went the lazy route and not only went with less players, but also a much less stable online infrastructure), I have to agree. R1 and R2 both outshines Gears 1, 2, and 3, as far as technicality is concerned. I haven't beat R3 or Gears 3, but from what I played so far, it seems to me that story wise, R3 best Gears 3 in that regard as well.

It should probably be noted that yahtzee never plays multiplayer.

I haven't played either yet, but I hated everything about Gears and I enjoyed the past 2 Resistance titles so there's that.
