What are you implying here, that I am posting as two people? Unlike you I can be honest about the state of a platform and not wrap my identity in it. Only fanboys go to great lengths like making multiple accounts to defend their platform. I'll play on the platform that has the games, and recently that isn't the pc.[QUOTE="Birdy09"] And yea, most Sqaure Games dont, but then again quite a few do, I mean, thier real upcoming money maker Final Fantasy XIV isnt coming to PC I guess? MMO you say? well at least its better than that FFXIII average game by a long shot =). 88mphSlayer
I said most of their games don't come to the pc, and of course their MMO will. Make all the defenses you want but the pc is missing out on some pretty big releases this year. As Avid-Gamer said most of the best pc releases these days are console ports, but maybe I'm posting as Avid-Gamer as well.

1) I just find it hilarious that you 2 are always in the same threads posting negativities solely on PC Gaming, to the point where its a funny coincidence, oh and, as Vandal has said, someone is in denial, its not us. Its you. Once again, the database doesnt lie. and the fact that alot of great games are not reviewed aswell (see my xfire tag of the game played this week for example).

2) Consoles are missing out on many Good, Great, Superb games aswell, but, isnt what your doing defending? Your idea of the "best" and mine are very different, RDR is just another blockbuster title that will be shelved, and apperenlty its not worth playing in a few months time? I guess I can claim that the state of Console Gaming, Mainstream " major  " gaming is so unhealthy to the point where your games cant keep your attention for longer than a day or 2 so badly, that you need the next hyped marketing fix to keep you going? Heroes of Newerth - 300 Hours, £15, more tournements than 90% of console games, probably a good 1000 more hours in it. No reviews. but oh noes, im missing out on . oh wait, I have all consoles! :o

Why do you get so serious about defending Pc gaming? Everyone knows Pc gaming is better, but it cost more, people here try and down play this , instead of just admitting the truth. In the end who cares. It is true that times are changing and consoles have closed the gap in online gaming and the graphics are good enough that if you didnt have a high end gaming pc to know the difference you will be happy with them. Developers are moving towards the consoles, piracy is affecting pc games, or more so the willingness of developers to invest tons of money on a PC only game or to even port some games at all. As a pc gamer myself I can admit things and not care one bit, I dont understand people that defend a plastic object like it gave birth to them. Ohhh but I am know as a PC BASHER because It dosent bother to have a opinion other the the PC hung the moon.

Well they're both different games.

Why not just play Deus Ex, and then play the sequel afterwards?

pc gaming is cheaper, the long term cost is much less, and the initial cost can also be less if you shop frugally. i built a system that out perfomed a ps3 in 2008 for $100 less.

The increasing prevalence of DRM has largely driven me away from PC games. If and when motion controls and their pointer accuracy can bring more RTS titles to the consoles I'll have little use for a gaming PC anymore.

ThePlothole

wow liike 2 games have really bad DRM, the rest are fine.

[QUOTE="Birdy09"] So a sequal or successor to a console game is not on PC? SHOCKER! L.A. Noire isn't a sequel and both it and RDR aren't published by MS or Sony. Most Square Enix and Namco games skip the pc as well.

You have fun with Final Fantasy 13. I'll play The Witcher.

Your outlook is too realistic, I'm going to assume that you and anyone else who is familiar with pc gaming that doesn't conform with the PC Is Perfect Club is just the same person working for Microsoft as part of a conspiracy to tarnish The Almighty and Superior Form of Gaming. Know this traitor, though Microsoft surely pays you well we will find you through vent ip tracking!

I don't care about Final Fantasy 13 but I do want to play L.A. Noire. I played the Witcher when it came out in 2007 and the fact that you suggested it only underscores my point.

I didn't read anything except the title so i have no idea whats being said in this post... But I thought I would throw in my opinion.

First of all I have played PC games for a very long time. Back in 1999 I got a brand spanking new PC for christmas! It was so awesome. A $2,000 computer for hardcore gaming. You know... Like Half-Life, Unreal Tournament, Quake, Counter-Strike... And the best thing about the computer is it was Y2K protected! haha. I played that PC for two years before it was time to get a new PC... I got a PC and played it for another few years... and when Half-Life2 came out with CS source... My computer could barely manage to run it. I love the style of playing shooters on the PC. The mouse and keyboard are awesome for games. I have not played PC games now for a good 4 years. I still love the PC for games, but I don't feel it's worth the money. I now have a Xbox360 for my games and a Macbook for all my school needs. I love the PC, but I also love Xbox360. What I like the most about the 360 and other consoles is that everyone has the same hardware and you don't have to worry about getting a new graphics card, or more memory, or a faster processor. You can know that if a game is out for that console... It will run on that console. The 200 bucks I spent on my 360 has been well worth it over these many years.

You were doing it all wrong. I havent had the need to upgrade for the last 3 years while still being able to max new games. Even back then I upgraded only a piece at a time when I needed it. then did a overhaul every 3 years.

The thing I like with Pc gaming back then was that every other year you had a major jump in graphics and ideas. Since 2005 with these current consoles graphics for the most part have been stalling Pc advances because most games are multiplat and have to be designed for the lowest common denominator which are the consoles. Another problem are game genres and ideas and games themselves keep on being rinsed and repeated over and over.

If by outdated you mean able to play almost every game at 1680x1050 at 30-60fps then sure.

Snagal123

I can't play Empire Total War and surely not Shogun 2 unless I go for lowest setting And my CPU is dual core.

I can play Empire at medium on a single 8800GT, high when i enable SLI, but i do have a quad core and the game is quite CPU intensive.

Personally my 8800GT runs every game fine, usually visuals have to be scaled to a medium or high depending on the game (Empire, Crysis, ArmA 2 and Shattered Horizon being the only games I can think of, that require visual scaling); all at 1680X1050 native resolution mind you. That and it can't take the full physX effects and settings with Arkham Asylum. While I am sure the quad core makes some difference in CPU intensive games, honestly I can't believe the video card, which was bought on the cheap on release (as a mid range card at the time) has lasted so long.

Yup it is the two of them for $5usd. Personally I'd pick it up if I didn't already own Iwar and three copies of Deus Ex, just for the convenience.

I am mostly seeing preference being used as a reason why whichever chosen form of gaming is better. Opinion, preference, and subjective are usually the main words in these threads. It is also filled with misinformation that people chose to accept as the truth as well as people being called things they are not.

I have seen threads like this many times before. While they are not similar to the TC's opening post, the end result is usually the same; defense, insults, misleading, and overall bashing usually take place (I know this is SW, you don't need to tell me). My view on this is that after seeing these posts usually repeated every other day about the same topic, it just seems useless now. I'm pretty sure that whenever a user is not on these forums, they are just going to turn on the system they want to play. After this thread falls to the bottom, very little would have changed.

I am not saying do not speculate on the present or future. I just feel that the many opportunities to learn something new here usually fly over a lot of people's heads. Even if they don't like a particular system, that should not be a reason to not understand the basis of the platform.

Maybe I'm just being too neutral here, but it does tend to wear out its welcome.

PC gaming probably is better, but it isn't for me. Sometimes I do wish I had a good PC though for the Strategy games. I can live without a PC, but I could never go without my consoles.

[QUOTE="funsohng"]I don't play PC games anymore. Not saying they are bad, but just simply I'm not interested in any of their offerings (not to mention my 8800GT is now getting outdated)

that means you console must be archaic. The 8800gt completely destroys consoles in any game and no game on ps3/x360 will ever look better than what the 8800gt can do.

steam + pc gaming is much much cheaper than consoles. 2.5 years and can still run every new game on high or near high settings which is much much better than consoles.

[QUOTE="funsohng"]I don't play PC games anymore. Not saying they are bad, but just simply I'm not interested in any of their offerings (not to mention my 8800GT is now getting outdated)

Your 8800GT should do the job just fine. My weaker 8800 GTS still beats the crap out of most games. Sure, I can't max out Metro 3030 or Crysis but that hardly matters. I'm currently addicted to Eschalon Book 1 which is hardly a game for graphics whores.

Hilariously enough, PC gaming can actually be cheaper than console gaming if you know what you're doing. It's a bigger investment initially, but it gets cheaper as time goes on. Brand new games are $10 cheaper and there are always tons of sales on Steam (I got GTA IV for $7, for instance). After an initial investment of $600-$700 for a very capable rig, the upgrade costs are only $200 or so every few years.

Ok so how in the world is that cheaper than a console?I can go buy a PS3 or a 360 right now for $299 intead of having to pay $600-$700 pc.And every year or so i dont have to pay $200+ for a upgrade just to play new games. No thanks ill rather just pay $10 extra dollars for games.

10 new console games = $1300nzd 10 new pc games = $700 nzd that's half the price, not to mention all the steam deals. Console hardware is a bit cheaper but games are way more expensive.

Get ready to pay $3000 every year if you want to play the latest games.

loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool I would not even have spent that much over 5 years yet it can still run pretty much any new game on high on my 2.5 year old gpu.

Hmm, I'm going to be a little "out there" and say that neither of you are familiar with PC gaming.

I never play on pc for games but i do know people who do it and they spend LOTS of money in the process.

well yeah just like you can buy a honda rather than a bmw, but the bmw is no better at getting you to work, in fact more likely to break down on you.

The increasing prevalence of DRM has largely driven me away from PC games. If and when motion controls and their pointer accuracy can bring more RTS titles to the consoles I'll have little use for a gaming PC anymore.

Sniping_Crowbar

wow liike 2 games have really bad DRM, the rest are fine.

Even the weakest DRM still takes away my second sale right. And anything that relies on a remote server verification will stop working if that server is ever shut down.

[QUOTE="WhenCicadasCry"]

Glad someone atleast TRIED to give PC gaming a shot. :P Now go play Stalker - Shadow Of Chernobyl using the L.U.R.K mod. :) I recommend 1.05. Version 1.1 sucks really bad.

WhenCicadasCry

YES.

Along with Crysis, SoC was the first game I got with my new PC last week. It's absolutely fantastic, definitely one of the best games I've played so far. A greater introduction to PC gaming was hardly possible, really. Even Crysis seems mediocre in comparison. I even wrote my latest blog about it.

I'm about halfway now, so I'll play it again with that mod sometime after I finish it.

Ew, you're playing Stalker unmodded. :P With the Lurk mod it propels Shadow Of Chernoybl to a gaming masterpiece.

Yeah, my PC didn't have an internet connection when I started playing it. It's all raw and a bit buggy, but its geniality still shines through. The AI is awesome (although they can act a bit retarded indoors) and the atmosphere is unrivalled.

So I take it this mod fixes the bugs and such?

I'm sure most games will get "unlocked" before the server goes down. If not i'll find a way to crack open that egg.

I'll take lower prices, and better performance I can control over being able to get back a small fraction of the small price I payed for the PC games.

im sure your not serious. i only spend somewhere around 2k + for my pc. though. i might want to replace my air cooler and get liquid. and I need a new monitor. and I think I my need a new case too. I would get a new gpu like a 5770 or 5830 if i could but i would need to think about that.

[QUOTE="Advid-Gamer"]Why do you get so serious about defending Pc gaming? Ohhh but I am know as a PC BASHER because It dosent bother to have a opinion other the the PC hung the moon.

dc337

Your outlook is too realistic, I'm going to assume that you and anyone else who is familiar with pc gaming that doesn't conform with the PC Is Perfect Club is just the same person working for Microsoft as part of a conspiracy to tarnish The Almighty and Superior Form of Gaming. Know this traitor, though Microsoft surely pays you well we will find you through vent ip tracking!

The difference is you are notorius for making ridiculous claims or just being downright misinformative. on this forum, something hes not aware of. Although both of you are being captain obvious? console gaming has always been good, but you keep saying PC gaming isnt as good as it was which is just your opinion is it not? while we back things up you just go "lalalala I like mainstream games only thye only last 10 hours" "PC Gaming only gets PC ports, PC Gaming misses out on most big games" when as it ever been different? consoles have always had exclusives like PC, and just like PC theres less and less. :o Shocker!

[QUOTE="saruman354"][QUOTE="dc337"] L.A. Noire isn't a sequel and both it and RDR aren't published by MS or Sony. Most Square Enix and Namco games skip the pc as well.

dc337

You have fun with Final Fantasy 13. I'll play The Witcher.

I don't care about Final Fantasy 13 but I do want to play L.A. Noire. I played the Witcher when it came out in 2007 and the fact that you suggested it only underscores my point.

Ok, to underscore our point, whens the last time the 360 had a great exclusive RPG hmmm? Lost Odysee? 2007? the PS3? .... The Wii? .... yea I thought as much.

Buy a 52inch plasma TV, better yet a HD Projector and get 7.1 surround sound.

lowe0

Please help me understand a contradiction: why is it whenever we say we prefer to game on a couch with a gamepad, it's always "oh, you can do that with PC too", yet whenever it's time for the cost argument, all of a sudden the good TV and sound system is supposedly a massive financial burden. Either you'd like to game on a home theater, in which case you need that equipment regardless of whether you game on PC or console, or you don't really think it's worth it, in which case a monitor and a pair of speakers will work just fine with either platform as well. The benefits and associated costs apply either to both platforms or to none.

Yeah it's not necessary at all, but then i keep hearing console gamers say you MUST soend at leat £3000 on a PC to make it gameable, that's not true. As someone said you can build a console killer for cheaper than a console.

I'd also like to point out that all of you here are typing out these words on a PC, how much did you pay for your PC? Now add that to the cost of your Console. I'm pretty sure the outcome will something like £500 at least, you can build an amazing rig for that much money.

Two points; They could add some kind of internal verification in patch form if the servers were to go down. Also, here is something many people who bash DRM don't realize; You can call the company and have them reset the DRM count before you resale it. One simple phone call saves you from resale hell. :)

Not necessarily - I'm typing this post on an Android phone, for instance. That said, the post you refer to was typed on a $1200 MacBook. However, what difference does thatmake? I already have a gaming PC (Q9400, 2xGTX 260) and yet I'm still a consolite.

They could, but there's no guarantee that they will. Why should we be hassled at all with something that has never managed to do what it was supposed to? (DRM does NOT stop piracy!)
