Can't agree with you on DK (even though it's still amazing), but spot-on on Batman. AA and AC I have real trouble finding any real noteworthy flaws. It tackles everything it does nigh perfectly. I'll also add both SMG games. Barely any flaws that I can see.-Batman Arkham City
-Donkey Kong Country Returns
Both are absolutely superb and as close to perfection as I've seen any game reach. They are each at the top of their respective genres IMHO and that's why I feel they merit their respective scores.

Hmm, while I have REALLY loved some games this generation, there hasn't been any I could necessarily feel comfortable giving a 10 as they could have definitely been improved on.
The game I would be the most comfortable giving such an honor to would be Bioshock Infinite. Columbia is such an awesome world and that story with that ending was just spectacular.
Even with that game though there could have been some major improvements made...
In terms of sheer fun factor, Left 4 Dead 1 would also be a candidate for me. Game was very flawed but still by far the BEST multiplayer console game I have ever played. Only multiplayer games in general that I would say competed were UT2004 and WoW.
7. 8 is too highfor me, skyward was an 8.
it felt too dragged out. had they cut out the fluff and reduced the 45 hour adventure to about 30, it would have easily been a 10, because aside from the backtracking and repetition, everything else was awesome.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 is the only one.
These are all the 10 out of 10 scores I've given:
Chrono Trigger (1995)
Super Mario 64 (1996)
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (1997)
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (1998)
Halo: Combat Evolved (2001)
Metroid Prime (2002)
Resident Evil 4 (2005)
Super Mario Galaxy 2 (2010)
Those are the titles I wouldn't change for the world (so far). There are still a lot of games I have yet to play.

Ridiculous. Game is sick. Just finished the Silent Realm in Lanayru. Loving every minute of it.
None, I think every game can be better, none are perfect. However the closest games I would have put to perfect where Quake III Arena, Everquest 1 ( before it was bastardised ), System Shock 2, AVP2, FFVII and Shenmue 1/2.
Of course standards change but back when these games where released they raised the bar for my standards of what a good game should be.
Excellent list, although I never got into Symphony of the Night, and I like "Metroidvania" titles. I feel like the only guy in the world who doesn't love that game; I never see any negative criticism of it. It's good--just not one that captivated me. All my tens: Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES) Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World (SNES) The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64) Metroid Prime (GCN) Resident Evil 4 (GCN) Super Mario Galaxy (Wii) Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii) Super Meat Boy (X360) The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Wii) And Super Metroid may be on that list soon. So, with four tens, the seventh gen was pretty awesome for me. Super Mario had its best gen since the NES, and platformers in general had their best gen...maybe ever. And Wii had some real jewels.Super Mario Galaxy 2 is the only one.

:lol:I've rated most of my games here on Gamespot on the 100 point scale that Gamespot originally had, and the .5 scale that they had until recently. For the thread, I'll follow you TC and show what games I'd give a 10/10 on a 10 point scale. Of course a 10 isn't a perfect game as there is no such thing, so stop being so fussy erryone. :P
7th Gen
6th Gen
its hard for me to give a 10 to any game as there is allways SOMETHING that dissapoints me a little about every game i play... the ones that come closest though this gen:
Dota 2
Counterstrike source (pre orangebox engine)
Fire emblem awakening
Tactics ogre
Starcraft 2
Super mario galaxy 2
havent played it yet but from what ive seen GTA 5 will be on this list too
What bothers me is gens before this My list would be much much longer...
Batman: Arkham City
Honest to god that's the only game that comes to mind that I didn't have any complaints about. It was grand. Even my favorite game from this gen, Nier, has it's fair share of flaws, but as far as I'm concerned Arkham City is basically perfect.
Finally. A list in this thread that doesn't completely suck.Tales of Graces F

That's the thing about rating a game a 10. Giving a game a 10 doesn't mean a game is perfect, nor does it mean it is your favorite game. I gave MGS4 a 10 and it isn't even in my top 10 games of this gen. In fact, some of my favorites are games I've given a score below 9.0, like Nier.

OG Final Fantasy 14 was pretty amazing. I can't for the life of me understand why everybody rated it 1s and 2s.

I was mostly in the honey moon period for a lot of the games that I rated 10. I know for a fact that, if I played it today, I wouldn't give MGS4 a 10, but I did back then XD. Arkham City though, dat shit deserves a freakin 10.

What about 9.5 for being proof of the Wii concept. I hold Skyward Sword in high regard because of how well it incorperated quality motion controls into the game. It felt like a playground to interact with 1:1. There is nothing like it on the market. At least not to the degree and quality of Skyward Sword.
I was let down when I first played the game because I was looking at it as a Zelda, but that was wrong IMHO. It something different. They took a very different approach to this game and as soon as I started looking at it for its own merits did I see how brilliant it is. No, it doesn't have certain aspects that I loved from past Zelda games, but it offers a lot of quality aspects that no other Zelda had.
