I don`t like Windows upgrades. Fresh installs are always better.Why exactly? No actual reason really.. :P I just like to make everything perfect, and the last time i did an upgrade i had some problems.
If it can't run as many games as Windows then it's not worth it seeing how I'm going back to PC gaming and I'm upgrading my PC.

One of my friends is obsessed with Linux, so i know some stuff. And trust me, it's not for gaming. For people who aren't PC gamers, it can be good. Though you'll have to find alternatives for most of the applications you use, since most of them won't run. As for games, Linux can't even run DirectX, only OpenGl. There's an application called Wine that kind of emulates the games on Linux. But of course you'll run into problems, some games won't even run, and the performance will definitely drop compared to Windows.

Just remembered that the computer running on Vista is actually dual-booting with that and Ubuntu 10.04. It takes about 5 minutes for it to shut down when running Vista and approximately 20 seconds to shut down when running Ubuntu. :lol: One company didn't do their homework good enough
The box said "Requires Windows Vista or better." So I installed LINUX

thats what i use on my programing comp :D how does one go about getting Linux? Here is a link to Ubuntu. http://www.ubuntu.com/ It is the only variation of Linux that I've used. Most Linux variations are free. I only ever hear about Ubuntu, Red Hat, and Fedora (and Chrome OS if you count it) but there are a ton of variations. Linux is interesting.... More for programmers than a standard computer user. Very few games are native to Linux, less than OSX. It does have Wine, but as it's been said it is an emulator so it isn't perfect. It doesn't run all games (here is the list: http://appdb.winehq.org/) I use Windows 7 64-bit. I really like it. Before this computer I dual-booted OSX 10.6 and Windows XP (then that laptop never woke up...).

Keep telling yourself that, Gramps. Well lets see here... I'd have to somehow find a copy of one of these new OS which I've used before and can't stand them. So this Gramps is right at home with XP. Must I get those Garden Gnomes too?
