Of course it's being over-hyped. That's not going to stop me from loving the game, though.

i will love it as long as the story is good, the play is fun, and the online is enjoyable. im sure im going to mute 90% of everyone i play against/with though. some of the most annoying people seem to play CoD on a regular basis.

my favorite thing was a guy trying to trash talk this other fellow an they went back an forth. the one guy who started it all started saying "i hope you live in brooklyn, i hope you live in brooklyn.." people were laughing an making fun of him for tryin to sound hardcore...the best part was when the guy said "Yeah, i do live in brooklyn an said some address" the other guy stopped talking. it was the best.

i am looking forward to the 2-player co-op...so me an my buddies are going to have to wreck that.

They've dropped dedicated servers in favor of matchmaking. I hate dedicated servers, anyway. I could never find a good one, on any game.

to be honest i can take one or the others but the server deal is more to my liking. games like MGO had what i think is the server set up where you can see games, who is in them, what are the rules, etc and then you can join or not. i liked this because i could see for example, if there was lag.

CoD an BFBC follow that matchmaking deal and to be honest...i REALLY dont like it. its quicker to just press a button an go. but so many times i end up with laggers...and i dont like having to wait for a match to start an then find out it sucks.

Lag isn't the only reason people are mad about not having dedicated servers. If you don't have any dedicated servers you also can't have multiplayer modifications.

interesting...but lag is my greatest enemy.

i hate coming up from the side of an enemy, knowing that they shouldnt see me...an i die because they lag. this happens to me alot on BFBC mostly. i will come at an enemy to knife them and i literally just drop from machingun fire by the guy who wasnt even looking at me that i was going to stab.

another time, something like this happened before, i emptied a clip into a guys back as he is running to a tank. those rounds hit but he still jumped in the tank an ran me over...as i am dead i see the indicator pop up seconds later showing that he just died from the weapon i was using because of lag. this doesnt happen ALOT but i hate it.

so far the only game i really dont have a prob with like that is BF1943.

-no dedicated servers

-9v9 multiplayer is only on a single map. Good bye, clans. Hello, shallow and unsatisfactory multiplayer experience that will eventually be disregarded in favor of MW or W@W

-The PC version is a point for point port of the Xbox version. This goes all the way to the help information telling you to open the ****ing xbl dashboard

-No mod tools

-10 dollars more expensive on the PC

-You don't actually get the game when you buy it at a store. Instead, you get a download key with some stupid DRM system on it.

Other offenses:

-Hans Zimmer is doing the music. Old and not terribly good Eminem track used for the launch trailer.

-ID software repeatedly assumes players are idiots

-If you suck, you get rewarded. 

-A nuke detonates on earth and destroys a satellite, apparently

-Other stuff some people probably care about but I don't, because this is all that really stuck out for me.

I'm not saying it won't be fun, or a good game or anything else. I'm saying that ID got their head stuck up their ass, appears to want to use this game as proof that the PC is dead by the inevitable lackluster sales (I wonder why) and are being idiots in general.

I'll probably eventually pick it up regardless, when it has a price cut and steam gives it a weekend sale, so I don't ahve to spend more than 5 bucks. I'd pirate it, but that would essentially be proving them right.

Dudes, I missed a lot not being on today. Wow. A lot of talk about MW2, I have seen the commercials and read about it here on GS and it seems like it would be a really good FPS. I am with Hush on my first FPS being Wolfenstein 3-D in DOS, then Doom and Duke Nukem. Pretty mush the same progression. :) To me really it is the story and game content that matter in a FPS or any game really. Under the skin a FPS is a FPS. You run around with guns and kill things, so story/content is key. That reminds me, I recently played through Mario Galaxy and it had one of the most satifying endings I have seen in a game. Nice looooong cinematic and a good closing to the story while leaving it wide open for the sequel. :D

wow you guys posted a lot of messages yesterday but i just love to over hyped games most of the time they fall hard and fast i just never understand americans and there need/love for fps gameselbert_b_23

oh dude...this game, MW2, is good. i wasnt in to it because everyone on CoD4 an WaW always talked about it how awesome it'd be, personally i have been wanting BFBC2 real bad. but this game is REALLY good. i am actually pleased that my friend talked me into it.

the campaign has been fun and i am already halfway through...im probably going to have to crap out my heart when playing it on veteran. i really like the story thus far. the multiplayer is enjoyable, the callsigns are kind of useless(i keep thinking a guy named S.S.D.D. is out to get me constantly)... and i have to say the AA-12 is my new best friend...i just wish it had a drum box.

and i am used to the worst player getting back-up. some people just need some help and jesus. but i think its a perk, not a reward. for example i have mine set to copycay if i die 4 times in a row i can copy my killers class(its hit or miss really).

if the pc one is the suck...wouldnt the next best thing to do is get it on a console?

besides the PC getting screwed, this game has lived up to its hype....unlilke OPFDR *clutch fist into air!

CoD4 wasnt too bad...there were a few times where i got spawn killed while playing campaign(it was annoying) but it was challenging. i just havent played the story on my ps3 because i have beaten it on 360 several times...an there are no trophies for it, i basically got it for multiplayer. WaW was just annoying...the AI not being smart was what made the game a bit more difficult.

this game has been quite good. i really do like the story, its not 100% original to a degree with its concept but its not seen too often either(there are a few console games an pc ones with this stuff in it). *when i got the game i looked over the boxart an noticed behind the soldier something very familiar an that kinda gave me a hint of what was up.

an i have seen alot of oversealous players an nay-sayers...this just makes me think back to Halo. People are going to put this on their alter and praise it...an make other do the same an there are going to be people who just roam around an badmouth it because they view it as conforming or something else that silly. but you gotta realize there will be people like that around...just like how their are bugs somewhere in your home.

I do want to point out, with out sounding like trollbait or anything, that on metacritic, its got a critical score of 90 and a user score of 1.4 out of 1400-something votes.

I guess people were really pissed about Servers and mod tools.

I have a pair of cheap speakers that go well with my computers design. what kind of speakers do you lot have?

no GreggD it wasn't a comment at you but a comment with so how fps are the biggest cash cow for dev's in america and they make around 20 a year on all the different consoles i didn't mean to sound racist but if thats how it sounded then oh well and i don't use speakers sound on my pc doesn't really work elbert_b_23

As for my speakers, I use Logitech 2.1's. I have a 5.1 Logitech kit for my TV, which will really come in handy when I go HD.

I THINK this is a remake of other video I saw a loooooooooooooong time ago, when youtube didn't even exist :P

but anyway, it's awesome (or even f-ing awesome :D ) 

i use this logitech...theater thing. so five speaker an a subwoofer.

oh and those logitech thingies are good, I have one somewhere, 2 speakers and subw., really good, but since I have the hometheater now it's rotting in my closet lol, I mainly used it at my dorm but... well, you know the rest. 

yeah, i read that an just started laughing. it was random as hell.

i used the headphones mostly with my computer when i listen to music or play games. my mother will get dramatic(think asian-mom) when i have music blasting or a battle waging. she will holler at me while covering her ears...

for the tv in the media room, i havent hooked up the sorround sound. the room is built already wired up to have speakers on the ceiling, there is even one for a projecter...but i dont like projecters as it reminds me of school. but i have this sound bar...and i was surprised how good it was. i cannot listen to the tv without it on otherwise it will seem SOOOOO quiet.

an the best experience i had with sorround sound was watching Saving Private Ryan with that last battle. amazing...simply amazing.

@DJ: that is actually one of the strangest things in my life. i watch strait jacket...an for the entire time i was wondering "why do i know this voice" after hearing one of the main characters. i did not know for the life of me why it sounded so familiar. later i went to my room an by my comics i saw my Ghost in the Shell manga(i think they reprinted it too recently). an it all came together, the voice of the guy from strait jacket was the voice of the more human team member of section 9 from GitS in the english dubbed ver.

@polter/D3J1K0: they seem alright, that is the truest form of making a home theater i think. i also believe they are costly...or the ones i saw. my sis liked the idea of one...an as you can see in our pic our wall is wide an white-ish enough to be a good screen...but we just went with the big tv. but i could barely grasp playing a video game on such a thing because you can make the image REALLY nice...an its width HUGE. that would cause me to go blind i'd say haha.

@Elbert: yeah, for a guy who is mentally insane...he is surprisingly cunning, smart, and quick thinking. one my favorite lines of his is when someone asks "Wade?' wondering if it was really him...his response was something like "I dunno who you are talking about, im the Emperor of North America" when you see it...its awesome. in the same comic, messiah complex...he is holding the M6 an i forgot but i think its the battle rifle from Halo...cuz Marvel did the Halo comics.

I'm importing Phantasy Star 0 for the DS. No way I'm waiting for the UK release in December.

@hush:  oh yeah, they cost some pretty penny... good ones are in the $1000's... I played Wii using the projector from my reseach lab back in college (hehehe) and we had a BLAST using it, I've always wanted one but... shelling out 1000 for that is... too much

@shauny:  if you play it tell me if it's good: I've been itching for a good PS game, there has been nothing yet as good as the original PSO's 

@hush and DJ:  the voice actor thing happens to me BUT most stuff I watch animated is, well, Anime (not dubbed, fansubbed), and I recognize often the voice actors.  Haha, I remember the first time I saw Kurotsuchi (from Bleach) and heard him speak and I was like:  "OMG! That's Freeza!" I even found it funny that Kurotsuchi and Freeza bear a physical resemblance too haha
