From my experience with Mercenaries 2 (beating in less than 12 hrs. after it's release, then getting kinda Boring), i was wondering how fast everyone plans on beating the new game "Dawn of the Dragon".

For instance, you may want to spread the gameplay out as long as possible in order to suck-up every last bit of entertainment, Or, you may want to beat it as fast as possible in order to finnaly see what the whole story line is.

So what do you guys plan on doing?

I will be extremly slow for two reasons. 1. I like to find everything in a game and will keep searching to make sure I got everything. 2. I have a lottttttttt of stuff to do in October and I won't be able to play games everyday of the week.

I like to find everything in a game and will keep searching to make sure I got everything.swordmaster3

That is my main reason for my vote. I hate rushing myself while playing a game. I like to take it slow, and make the most out of the experience. Because, you only get the first playthrough once. I also like to explore as much as possible to admire the effort put into the environment and the enemies. In fact, if a game has even the tiniest possibility of exploration, then you can bet I will take advantage of it.

Here's a brief list of hours I've clocked in some games.

Final Fantasy VII: Around 150 hours. (Mastering all the materia is time-consuming.)
Final Fantasy VIII: Around 200+ hours (Stat maxing is fun.)
Final Fantasy X: Around 230 hours. (I would have had more, but my file got erased. :()
Final Fantasy X-2: Around 210 hours. (Unlike other Final Fantasies, the multiple paths and outcomes made it worth replaying over and over. So my end file amounted to about that.)
Okami: About 140 hours (This was truly an epic game. I highly recommend it, and don't judge it by the way it looks either.)
Silent Hill: Origins 11 hours (It was suppose to be only a 2-3 hour game, but I managed to clock 11 hours! I really like to explore and destroy respawning enemies as much as I can.)

I miss the times when I could include playing games for so long into my schedule. Okay, that's enough rambling...:|

I don't know for sure. Perhaps if I enjoy the game I'll play through once to get a general idea, and then a second time to get the things I missed. :)

Cool to see you spend additional time on the SH game. :) And I've yet to complete any FF games so far, but I've got a decent amount of hours clocked on FF3 DS, I think. Something like 30? I dunno. I've also got loads on the SNES ports to PS1 aswell, but I actually wanna just wait till they come out on DS. I know that FF4 should be out soon and hopefully FF5 and 6 will also be remade in 3D for the DS. :)

Usually with games like this, I always play very slowly.

Same with TEN and ANB, it took me about 1 week to finish. I like to understand everything about the game, unlockables, characters, and worlds. Also because I usually help out others on the D.o.t.D board to help them with their questions about the game. ;)

Wow, one day? I hear that game's hard but I think I also heard it's short too. Where does that leave you? :P ...Actually, you're probably uber-great at it or something lol. Especially if it's hard and short.

Yeah. That sucked. When I first heard you couldn't return to old levels, I thought "FAIL". I know it's not trying to follow the format of the original trilogy, but it would be nice if that feature stuck around, at least.

But at least with Dawn of the Dragon, you'll be able to go to any of the 12 worlds you want....

12 Worlds? 12 WORLDS!!!! YES! Sounds like they finally got the content of a Spyro game right!! :P Ofcourse, I would say that cuz I love RPG elements in any game. But wait... when they say 12 Worlds, is it just 12 big levels or is it actually, worlds, as we know them to be (Spyro 1, 2, 3 etc).

I really didn't know about TEN until about 4 days before it came out. I found that TEN was kinda hard, but I have done worse, the only thing that stopped me from beating the game under 10 hrs. was the enemies kept cheap killing me, you know when they hit you over and over and they wont let you move.

No, Alec. These are actual, free-roaming, adventure-filled, enormous, colorful worlds.
Everything you want in a Spyro game is here for you. Action, adventure, exploration, and a five star storyline. What more can you ask for?!?!?! :D

Holy crap! YAY! :D I have got to get this game now. Also, that footage I saw yesterday slightly reminded me of Cliff Town for some reason. And that big monster on the other side made me think "Spyro Of The Colossus" :P

I don't think I know why. Is it cuz it's part of the LOS trilogy? I don't really mind about that anymore. I'm just gonna avoid the first 2. ;)

I know. They are too harsh.

And too both of you, no, I can't go over to a friends house. Since I'm homeschooled, I don't have very many friends. Actually, I only have two. One that I talk to over the phone, and one that lives behind me. And out of those two, only the one behind me likes videogames. But unfortunatley, I can't go over to her house because my parents forbid me to. They don't like her and her family's life s.t.y.l.e (sorry, it wouldn't let me type in the word). So I'm currently done with games. :(

Damn. That sucks. Well, I might be finally getting a job soon. It's more Christmas work for Royal Mail, the main UK mail delivery service. How does this fit in with your story? Well, if I do get the job again, I'll probably be earning more money than I know what to do with (I'm a pretty slow/small spender) and I had the nice idea that I might perhaps make donations to people. I hope you've got PayPal! ;)

Yeah, definitely! Wow, Alec that is extremely generous!!! Unforunately, LGD is only 11 or 12. I don't think she'll have a PayPal account.

But I wish you the best of luck with your future job at the Royal Mail! When you told me about on chatagno, I was really happy for you, and I still am! I know how hard nowadays it is to find a job. It sucks...:(

Oh, and LGD. If anything, I know that the PS2 is now going for only $55 dollars, at least at the GameStop near me. It may be a little more or less around you in California.....
But anyway, I hope you are able to get at least some playing time......All work and no play makes Johnny a dull boy.

And that is very very nice of you Alec! Wow! But I'm not looking for a new PS2 to buy, and I don't have a PayPal account (but I think my dad does). And he will not like the idea of me getting money in the mail from people he or I don't know in real life (not that your a fraud or anything, lol.) I'm sure you really would, but you don't have to. My parents would not like that one bit.

My current goal is not to get a new PS2 (The one I have now oddly works fine), but to persuade my parents into letting me have my ****ing games back!!!!

I agree with SOADjoe on this. My sister used to study for hours on end (like the whole day). But unfortunatly she studied so hard that she did really horrible on the test not because she hadn't studied but because she overloaded her mind that she forgot some things. I personally don't study too much (I have two quizes tomarrow and I still haven't studied for them yet) but if I plan myself out (study twice, play games, study once more before going to bed) I actully find out that I retain a lot of information. And don't forget I get lots of A's with this strategy (I am a 4.0 student afterall). If I just studied my mind would not retain anything and I would have to have an aspirin because there would be no way I could concentrate with a throbbing headache. Everybody should have at LEAST a half an hour to an hour of fun everyday so they don't overload and get overstressed with work and projects.

Are you allowed to listen to music, LGD?

Yeah. LGD does seem to be in an unfair position. If it were me, I wouldn't stand for it. But hey, it's probably not my place to say. I'm hoping that at least when you turn 16, you'll have more freedom. Sounds a little far-off, I know. But your parents really oughta treat you better by that age. They're too overprotective imo.

Uh, Joe, I'm 13. :P

I seemed to do alright in exams from what I remember. Ofcourse, I was never one for outstanding grades or anything, I seemed to know enough to get by. Most of my GCSEs (exams before you leave High School in the UK) are grade D. The hightest I got was a B in Graphics, which kinda annoyed me because I worked real hard on my project and enjoyed it too! All the other subjects were a complete chore, but not Graphics. :) For my Project, I made a board game of The Italian Job based on the 1969 movie, not the 2003 one :P.

Yeah, I can listen to music. I have an iPod Nano! Right now I have to figure out how to put music in my videos I make with Windows Movie Maker from my iPod. All the help I get doesn't seem to work for me. LittleGreenDog

Ah, I think I remember you mentioning this before. You must mean direcetly importing it from your iPod? Well, if you still aren't managing you could always tell me or anyone else who wishes to help what tracks you want in your video, and I can see if I can find the MP3 somewhere on the net for you. :)

Well thats good. Actually, call it strange but I recently bought a new pair of ear-phones, but I don't own a MP3 player! Actually, I bought them for school so I can listen to my music at the computer in ****without bothering anyone else. :P

Sorry about getting your age wrong, Erica. Oops! I was close though...:roll:SOADjoe19

Yeah lol you were close. :P I'm doing ok for Headphones at the moment. I've still got the ones that game with my Silver Sony 6GB MP3 Player. The one thing I hate about my player is that there's loads of dust on the front of the insides because the buttons have big gaps and over time, the amount of flaked-off skin has built up under it..... Sorry for that horrible image! But yeah, it does appear very dusty and ancient.

I would like one of those kinda touchscreen-button MP3 Players like the iPod is. But I want to specifically avoid the iPod because I reckon Sony is better in that area anyway. It's just too bad you can't get the Zune over here. I do have some leftover MS Points!

Hmmm, I understand our collective views of this, but I for one don't really want to get too involved with it. I wish you luck, Erica, for at some point this will end...;)

Yeah. It's hard to stand by and just hear about it going on without doing something. But alas, that's all we can do. We'll just have to do our best to keep you smilin' on here then :)

But you know what? All that we do means that we truly care about what's happening with her as her friend....8)

And I'm behind Iceferno on this one. We'll always try to keep you smiling over here, Erica!!!

As much I would want to help you cope with this Erica, I still feel pretty much like an intrusion to it....:?

You've just gotta think about how unreasonable the parents are, and how unfair on her it is. Then I don't think you'll feel like you're intruding!
