WWE Extreme Rules - June 7th 2009

Well, the womens match last year was advertised as an 'I Quit' match. So when it was announced, I though; Wow, an extreme womens match. However, when the bell rang they just did submission moves for the majority of the match. Not complaining, it was a decent womens match but when you hear 'I Quit' match you expect something...well...extremeTurk130

Whoops, my bad. It was an I Quit match. Like you say, I probably got confused because of so many submissions.

Whatever the case, I think it is safe to assume that women's match this year will once again, be something that is not exactly when you think of "extreme."Link256

If you go to the Random Wrestling Posts Thread, I posted a little bit of news where it said Vince has really soured on the women's division in the WWE so, with that in mind, I don't think the women will be getting a match on PPV any time soon

Otherwise, you never know? They just might have Santina-Maryse.

Well if you can remember the match between Bret Hart and Austin at WM 13, that match was a "Submission" match but it got downright hardcore. So you can be sure they'll be weapons available to use. KevyR

Oh don't get me wrong kev, it could be entertaining and extreme if it's a No DQ Submission Match, but if you were to ask me to list what I though was the most extreme matches to the least extreme, lets just say submission wouldn't be near the top

Besides Show/Cena, the gimmicks for this year are looking really good.

It happened during Superstars, but it's not announced yet. But tbh, I could see them just doing Christian/Dreamer since it'll be Dreamer's swansong.

The thing that gets me about this match(?) is why Vince actually thinks that a Hog Pen is 'Extreme'. I mean, will there be flesh eating pigs or something?

I think it's a waste of time by having that Hog Pen match cuz Vickie is in it. They should keep this match under 5 minutes.KevyR

However, I think your right that even though this should get no where near 5 minutes, we all know it will. It'll probably even get more than that if Vince's oh-so hilarious humour gets in the way

Oh I know. The time which is being wasted on this ridiculous thing could have been used on another Morrison/Shelton match, possibly a Table Match or something like that. Heck, why not another PPV skit with the Miz, that would be awesome!

Triple-Threat Extreme Rules Match? I like it

Overall I must say that even though the majority of the PPV is exactly the same as Judgement Day, it still looks like a solid card (minus the Raw matches)

Oh I agree, I'm just saying you can't really get extreme for Vickie. Unless it's extremely pointless.

For that matter, she should just be kept strictly to a non-wrestling role.

Jim Ross on the hog pen match at Extreme rules: The revisiting of the "Hog Pen" match at Extreme Rules in New Orleans will be a sight for sore eyes. I was indirectly a part of such a mess that included live hogs and their manure many years ago in a match between HHH and Henry Godwin. I was to do an interview but kept from being drowned in hog feces. There is a photo of me in bib overalls &rubber boots covered in hog waste and mud floating around somewhere. Not one of the most stellar memories of my broadcast career. I do remember HHH suffering a nasty cut that had to be immediately attended to due to the prominent risk of infection because of the environment of which he was grappling. I think that event might have been an "In Your House" PPV in the old arena in Hershey. Pa.
