Cena vs HBK was an awesome match, better than Taker vs Batista, which is saying a lot. Both men made it feel like a true main event and a match that is worth that spot. A match worth seeing and a good Wrestlemania. MITB, Taker vs Tista, Cena Vs HBK, even MVP vs Benoit was good.
Â
EDIT: People's opinions on which match was better, Taker/Tista or HBK/Cena, will change. If you like a good and slow build up, Cena vs HBK is the better. But if you dont like slow begginings and want to get right into it, Batista vs Taker is better.Â
Hay everyone let me begin by saying that you guys are going a great job in this union, and I always visit the union for the latest news.
The reason IÂ jioned this union is to talk about WRESTLEMANIA MATCH BETWEEN CENA AND MICHEALS, I wished the match would have ended with a new champion like the other match, TAKER and BATISTA was great and I thought BATISTA would win but TAKER kept his unbeaten record. But I'm dissapointed about the CENA, micheals match, I felt it was the exact same match as last years CENA, TRIPLE H. I have nothing against cena but making the same finsher as last year was stupied, either he pined MICHEALS or lost. My young brother ( not into wrestlng much)Â walked in my room and said why are you watching last years match.
Still wrestlemania was great, CENA is trying hard to let the fans like him you can see that in his eyes, but making him win many times makes the fans think they are pushing him way to far. Last was triple h this year is micheals next year he might face the undertaker and beats the undertaker and makes him tap for the first time in his career and that will piss the fans, but IÂ don't think taker will agree on that. Vince propably is angrey about the reaction cena is taking which is understandable, But he needs to ease the push on cena if he wants the fans to cheer him more.
I think there will be a rematch for their match at BACkLASH(and might lose the tag in the upcoming weeks , which I think they should have lost before WRESTLEMANIA) as well as TAKER and BATISTA, judging by the prievew they have shown.
Thanks alot and I hope I didn't break the rules or anything.
I went 50% on my picks. I'm fairly certain that's my worst number in years by a long shot. For the most part, the one's I missed I actually preferred not getting it right, like Benoit retaining or the Originals going over... or just couldn't have given a crap either way, Trashley match
Sounds like the show over-achieved drastically, again entirely on the effort of the performers. Good for the wrestlers and for the people suckered into buying tis, probably bad for us in the long run. We only encourage them.
I just have a few question, how was the crowd overall? Everything seems to indicate that they continued the theme of really aiding the show.
How did they react to Lashley?
EDIT: And how long did Michaels stay in the STFU?Â
So if MVP doesn't win, I will riot?mja2k3So... How's the riot coming along?
The crowd wasn't that into the matches that were not MITB, Taker vs Tista, or Cena vs HBK. The crowd popped a little for some matches but thats about it. Very clear Batista and Cena boos, and a fiery hot crowd with Taker/Tista and HBK/Cena, made both matches slightly better.I just have a few question, how was the crowd overall? Everything seems to indicate that they continued the theme of really aiding the show.

The_Dude14
The crowd wasn't that into Lashley, or Umaga vs Lashley at all, they were more into Steve Austin, Trump taking down Vince, and Shane's leap of faith. Even some boo's for Lashley here and there.
Â
Oh, and Micheals stayed in the STFU for a good amount of time. Definetly not the amount of Angle's ankle lock, but good enough for some drama. Â
The Cena/Michaels match was great. I thought the ending battle was great. It could've went any other way. I was pissed HBK didn't win, but we all knew Cena was going to win any way. I hope Cena lose the title at Backlash, should there be a rematch between the two.KevyRI hope not. I'm getting sick of Backlash being Wrestlemania-Lite. I'd like to see them uncork something different.
Then again, I might end up going to Backlash and I can't think of anything better...
Seriously, we stopped doing that a long time ago. We have learned to just accept Cena, and I respect him for working his ace off after two in a row main event Wrestlemania's where he gets boo'ed out of the building. He may not be ever carrying a match but will put on great matches with the right kind of people or situation.....And my boy Cena is still the Champ! So... How's the riot coming along? I couldn't really make of how the crowd was. They sound very average. It cannot be compare to the Chicago crowd. They crowd were pretty much into the Batista/Taker match in which Tista was booed and Taker was cheer when it came to punches and moves. Same goes to the HBK/Cena match. HBK got cheer and Cena got booed. I think my favorite overall highlight of that night was Jeff diving on top of Edge, who was lying on the ladder, and putting him through it. That was totally HOLY SH%#!!!I went 50% on my picks. I'm fairly certain that's my worst number in years by a long shot. For the most part, the one's I missed I actually preferred not getting it right, like Benoit retaining or the Originals going over... or just couldn't have given a crap either way, Trashley match

As for how they react to Lashley, mild reaction. Nothing strong.
And Michaels lasted in the STFU at the end for about 15 seconds or more.
So... How's the riot coming along? the fans were pretty much non existant for all the matches other than MITB and the two title matches, the just didn't seem to care about the other matches. They booed cena and tried to replicate the back and forth "boo-yay" from the punches of hbk and cena but they were too spread out to make it as enjoyable as hhh/cena. the fans were also pretty harsh on batista. their reaction to lashley was just a few cheers here and there, there was also a guy booing during the whole lashley/umaga match. michaels was in the stfu for about a minute before he grabbed the ropes the first time, then maybe about 30 seconds during the stfu in which he tapped out.I went 50% on my picks. I'm fairly certain that's my worst number in years by a long shot. What makes you think Cena was booed out of the building tonight? Not even close man.
keller's cena/hbk rating
STAR RATING: **** -- The last five or ten minutes saved it, but four stars might be generous. Ross called it an "amazing WrestleMania main event," but even his praise seemed reserved. It was good, but it took a long time to get out of second gear. Michaels is really strong in 20 minute matches, but once you book him for more than that, he often slows down too much for the first half of the match for the "slow build." I'd say Taker-Batista was a notch better than Michaels-Cena. They were very different matches.

You're doing everything in your power to make it seem like if Im a Cena hater :| If you think those werent very clear and loud boo's, then you are liying to yourself. Maybe not boo'ed out of the building (over-exxagerated), but good enough to overcome the cheers. EDIT: I disagree with the ratings of Cena vs HBK. It should be rated higher, and ran a lot more smoothly than Taker/Tista did. The beggining of Cena/HBK wasnt really that bad or slow, HBK made it fun to watch.

(I'm assuming there wasn't one).Even with all the praise, its going to take some major special features to get me to buy this on DVD. But WWE has been going overboard on specials since last year's Mania, so they might. If it shows up at Blockbuster, though. I'll give it a rental.Â

Ok, fair enough then. I know the boo's were nowhere as bad as last year's and I was really locked into the match and didn't pay as much attention to the crowd as I usually would. I also think was much better than his match with HHH last year. HBK really did a good job carrying Cena.

dude, Dude, ur really letting yourself down if you don't go out of your way to see Taker/Batista, the Edge/Jeff spot, and Cena/HBK. oh and u know RVD won one tonight right? and Punk was great tonight
Yeah, I really have no problem with that. I went a decade without ever seeing HBK-Bret and I've still never seen any of Wrestlemania 19 and that's one of the better overall Wrestlemania's and involves a lot more stuff I actually care about and RVD was in a match barely long enough to be called filler (though that was enough to get me to buy XX, but there was more stuff on there I cared about, too). The good on this show largely involves people I don't care about in the least. By my count, I've got 12 DVDs and counting that are way higher on the priority list than this show.dude, Dude, ur really letting yourself down if you don't go out of your way to see Taker/Batista, the Edge/Jeff spot, and Cena/HBK. oh and u know RVD won one tonight right? and Punk was great tonight

you'll probably see the Edge/Jeff spot a thousand times tomorrow on Raw anyways.
I couldn't believe how many boos Bautista was getting in his match, but the Taker is still the Taker. And he took lol. And Cena's entrance was much better last year IMO, but this year's main event was definately the best I've seen in a while.
Oh and BTW, MISTERRRRRRRRR MONEY IN THE BAAAAANK...

800th post woo woo!
This was a great show. I, however, disagree with quite a bit of you guys on the main event.
Match ratings
MiTB: ***3/4: This match was pretty good, but last years was better. That insane spot by Edge and Hardy will be Tivo'd quite a bit over here. Nice couple of finish sprees, and that uber RKO was great. Glad Kennedy Won too, just wondering how Edge's streak will be handled.
Khali vs. Kane: 1/4 *. I was slightly interested at the body slam. That was pretty much it for me. Finish was really lame.
Benoit vs. MVP: ** and 3/4: I really wanted to rate this higher, but I didn't get it. I was very impressed by MVP, don't get me wrong, but how did Benoit's 5 suplexes and the headbutt finish him off. I didn't see any other offense from Benoit. Of course, time restraints are to blame. I also belive I heard "Six minutes" half way through the match, so yeah, kinda predicable.
Taker vs. Batista: **** 1/4: Seriously, this was f***** awesome. Batista proved me wrong by a mile. I was expecting two stars tops on this thing, and they pulled out one hell of a match. I honestly thought that the streak was over after the Batista Bomb. Great emotion.
ECW 8-man: * and 1/2; This would have been * and 1/4 if the New Breed won. It was what is was, average, and the surprise win gave it 1/4 of a star. At least we saw the 5 star.
"Battle of the Billionaires": *, this was pretty much a story, not a match. It really is sad when the biggest pop of the match is when Trump attacked Vince. At least we saw a stunner or two.
Trashley vs. Melina: negative *****, do I even need to explain. It sucked ass in every single way imaginable.
Cena vs. HBK: *** 1/2: I didn't like this match that much. The slow build up would have been nice if it mattered at all. The fact that Cena stopped showing the effects 12 seconds after he got in control kinda killed it for me. You don't just "shake off" that kind of stuff. The second half was very good, but after the FU Cena hit it got very predictable to me. Predictability isn't good. The fact that this match got a *** 1/2 on about 1/4 of the match just goes to show how good that part was. That pilldriver was really out of place as well. Why did he even do it? He's a face, and even after he did, again, Cena pretended it didn't happen. I just wish this match was designed better.
Match of the Night: Batista vs. Undertaker.

Sam, are you still the reigning prediction champ?
Looks like a decent Mania at best, even with no real "big match" feelings involved.
Im really happy Kennedy won. Orton, Booker, Edge are already main event worthy, and Punk could use some build before his inevitable main event slot. Cant wait to see what they do with Kennedy.
Everything else was pretty much as I predicted, the only match I was wrong about the outcome was the originals vs new breed, which was pretty weird. Maybe they dont want to completely waste RVD and drive him off to TNA?
Trump gets the stunner, thats cool, Lashley wins, and still sucks apparently.
From what I hear, Batista vs Taker was better than HBK/Cena which im shocked about. Well, I guess Batista was right, it really lit a fire under them. Now just keep that fire burning there Dave.
And HBK taps to the almighty STFU. Looks like a decent match, I just hate that freakin move. Im guessing this feud will continue for a while.
All in all, a decent looking Mania, but certainly doesnt look like it was worth my 50$. Had Kennedy cashed in tonight on Cena, THEN i'd regret not ordering.
was anyone else dissapointed with the line up for WM23?
Â
for those who dont know it was:
MITB
Khali vs Kane
Beniot vs MVP
Taker vs Batista
ECW Originals vs New Breed
Lashley vs Umaga
Melina vs Ashley
HBK vs Cena
Here are the winners of last night event: 1. Mr. Kennedy as your new MITB Winner 2. Khali beat Kane and the only thing worth mentioning in that match is Kane actually bodyslam Khali 3. Chris Beniot retains the United States Championship 4. Undertaker is the new World Heavyweight Champion (MOTN) 5. The ECW Originals pin the New Breed 6. Bobby Lashly pin Umaga in which Vince McMadman is now bald 7. Melina won the craptastic match with Ashley and retain her Women's Title 8. Cena retains his WWE TItle in a good match (Second MOTN)They put the lumberjill match that high.....
But who won didnt get to see it?
Captious
i marked out when hbk piledrived cena into the steel steps just like he did against taker in their hell in a cell match. what i liked best about the match was the start, how hbk played up an angle that he was so far out of cena's league that it was laughable, dodging all his offence and taunting him constantly, it really gave some needed (for lack of a better word) meaning to the match.Cena/HBK was great. I loved how HBK was bringin back old moves that he never used n ages like the Lou Theze Press and Skinning the Cat. That moonsault was beauty. Props to Cena from taking a lot of bumps as he does not usually do that.
Total-KO
Oh, god that's 4 straight 'Mania's that Cena either goes in with/walks out with a title or wins 1
'Mania XX defeated Big Show for US title(if i remember correctly.....)
'Mania XXI defeated JBL(I wanted Cena to win this 1)
'Mania XXII defeats HHH(time to play the game???? HHH had it)
now 'Mania XXIII(WTF?!)
honestly, I like Cena as a wrestler, but dude, let the WWE title go for a while, stick with your tag title and find a decent partner will ya? HBK should've been WWE Champion, honestly this 'Mania is one of the worst I've seen, 'Taker winning and some of MITB was good, I though Jeff had it and I though they were gonna push him considering this was his 1st 'Mania in 5 years... Cena is good it's just that he needs to let the WWE title go, he's had it for 3 straight 'Mania's now, I'm not hating on him, but it's time for a change, seriously

I think the placement of the match was fine (outside of the fact it was on the card to begin with), it was just dividing the wrong matches. Trump-Vince and Taker-Batista should have switched places with the Ho-bag match giving people a chance to rest, relieve themselves, and buy some souveniers or beer if they were still selling. A cool-down match before your hot main event.Oh, god that's 4 straight 'Mania's that Cena either goes in with/walks out with a title or wins 1
