Saw The Hangover Part 2 & 3.

Man of Steel
This felt like a mixed bag of a movie. Snyder was clearly brought on board to direct a Chris Nolan movie, and it's not until the end when the action kicks in that they finally let him bring what he does best to the table. But the otherwise super serious and clinical approach doesn't quite work for Supes the same way that it does for Batman, and while the actors did their best with the material they were working with, I'm not sure that material was necessarily the best rout to take with this reboot. Here's my full review.
Only an hour to show time an only 11 more people showed up so far. :roll:TGM_basic
Must have just been at your theatre, because Man of Steel made $21 Million via Midnight sales (That's more than Iron Man 3 did, as well as the Avengers).Â

My theater was only about 2/3 filled up, which was shocking, seeing as how I've been to midnights before for big releases like this where, if you weren't there several hours early, you were sitting on the floor. I wasn't the only one, either, as a friend who was tweeting from Illinois expressed similar concerns/confusion regarding the lack of people for a midnight showing.
Concerning the movie itself, problematic as it is, it's one that actually gets better the more you think about it, so I'm really looking forward to checking this thing out again at some point.

Well, Walmart did have a special 7 O'Clock showing on Thursday in select cities, so that could have factored in as well.
I'm seeing "Man of Steel" tomorrow, then likely again on Wednesday. I'll see it tomorrow with my Aunt and Cousins, then on Wednesday with a friend who is busy tomorrow, so can't make it then. What a nice person I am. :PÂ
Well, what'd you think of them?TGM_basicI thought Fast 6 was great but I'm still trying to let Man of Steel sink in.
Saw "Man of Steel" earlier today... I felt that the action scenes were easily some of the best I've seen, even if they were obviously CGI... But the rest of the movie had major pacing issues. They spent way too long in Krypton at the beginning of the film, and took way too long building things up. The first 45 minutes or so was literally a complete waste of film. This movie reeked of a film with good potential, but couldn't pull the right triggers. Don't get me wrong, it was good, it was just... I don't know, it's really hard to explain. Pacing issues aside, the movie just felt off. It wasn't Superman's fault or anything of the sort, the movie itself just felt weird... I guess if I had to try explaining it, I'd say that it tries to make it seem like this situation could actually happen... But then something else happens and it sort of takes you out of thinking, "yeah, this could happen!".
Oh, and I caught a couple issues with characters knowing things they shouldn't have... But it could have been me trying to wrap my head around what I was watching, since from nearly the beginning I was sort of having a hard time sitting through it. Like I said, it isn't bad, but it isn't for everyone. This is the type of film that would be good to watch over a set period of time, not in one sitting, at least for me any ways.Â
Saw Fast 6 today. Preeeeeeeety good. One incredibly silly scene with the Rock in an interrogation room. Atleast there were more cars in this movie than there was in #5.
Seeing 'This is the End' tomorrow.
As Man of Steel sinks in even further, I think my thoughts on it can be summarized as such: Shoulda been more Watchmen, less Batman Begins.TGM_basicAs a big fan of both movies: Â Batman Begins > Watchmen. Â I'm really excited to see Man Of Steel though. Â The mixed reviews are on two opposite sides of the spectrum so I'm going in with an open mind. Â I also really want to see This is the End. Â

I don't disagree that Batman Begins is a better movie than Watchmen. However, tonally, the Batman Begins approach doesn't work for Superman the way it does for Batman. Watchmen's perfect mixture of serious and camp would be a much better fit.

Wish I had more input but as soon as I see it I can say whether I agree or disagree.  While I'd be with you in the fact that Superman can't get the dark vibe that Batman radiates, it's hard to say that this wasn't the best option available.  Superman has become an outdated superhero and the easiest way to make someone refreshing is to add more grit to the character.  It all depends on the execution (which may not have been done as well as I'd hope.)  Never been a big Superman fan but with this movie I hope I'm proven wrong.I agree with the majority of Spidey's assessment of the movie. Pacing threw me off; excess amount of time spent on Krypton; the head-scratching part with Jonathan Kent (don't want to give away spoilers but for those who have seen it should know what I'm talking about); the Lois and Clark relationship was odd. StaticKornSlipX
Yeah, the Pa Kent part kind of confused me as well. That was one of the, "trying to be serious, but did something that brought you out of it" moments. I mean I get why it was there, and what it was suppose to symbolize, but I wasn't a fan of it for the same reason I wasn't a fan of the end of the big fight (no spoilers here). I completely agree on the Lois and Clark relationship as well... One of the biggest things that bothered me, and it started off almost right away.Â
[QUOTE="Flamecommando"]This is the End.......... was F******* AWESOME!!
Comedy of the year so far.TGM_basic
That's what I'm hearing from everyone. Hoping to see it tomorrow. :)
I plan on seeing it sometime this week. I'm super hyped up for it. :DSaw Gangster Squad last night. Decent movie.
Ryan Gosling Jr. had a really good scene in the middle that deserved a bravo. Other than that is was just decent.
Watching Flight tonight.

lol, this is the precise reason I quit buying movies. Chances are, if I don't catch a movie in theaters, I'm probably gonna miss it.

Watched 'Snitch' last night. It was just ok. 6/10.Flamecommandoalmost watched that tonight, maybe this weekend I will get to it
So over the past three days I've seen Monsters University, Man Of Steel, and World War Z. Â I'll type up a tiny review for each.
Â
World War Z: Â Brad Pitt has really come to be one of my favorite actors and he continues his strong performances by adding a big action flick onto his resume. Â Most of you don't know me that well so it's hard for me to have a movie like this hold my attention because I'm not really into the big blockbuster movies unless they're done without a rehashed formula. Â Most of the big movies are churned out with nothing but dollar signs in producer's eyes. Â This movie gladly gave a refreshing view on the zombie genre (if that can be done considering how overdone it's been the past couple years) and the writing is really what gave this movie its charm with great monologues throughout the movie. Â It felt like some things didn't have a chance to develop and I blame that simply on the movie format. Â Everything felt rushed at the end and it was obviously because the book has so much content that they had to slop together the movie so it wasn't 4 or 5 hours. Â Quite frankly I would've loved to see World War Z be spread out into multiple movies instead of one much like The Hobbit is doing so that nothing is really left out. Â Nonetheless, I'd recommend this movie to someone unsure if they want to go see it and I'll give it a 7/10
Â
Man Of Steel: Â When you mix Zack Snyder and Christopher Nolan you're going to have unrealistic expectations. Â Man of Steel has had very mixed review from people saying it's a dud to it's close to the Dark Knight trilogy. Â For those people who are quick to dismiss the entire series because they didn't like this movie I'd have to say to think again. Â Batman Begins didn't prepare anyone for the masterpiece that was The Dark Knight and much like Batman Begins Man of Steel was an origins movie. Â It has set the framework for great things to come and stayed enjoyable throughout. Â The movie was visually beautiful and that actor is THE PERFECT Superman. Â I know a lot of people were critcizing the Lois Lane/Superman relationship but I'd blame them rushing the romance too soon. Â I thought that they should've just pushed the romance until the second movie because the kiss felt like it was rushed way too fast and absolutely awkward because this girl is kissing an alien she has barely talked to. Â I'll agree the pacing felt a bit off here and there but otherwise this movie has lifted the bad name of the Superman series and in 2013 has made an outdated Superman feel new again. Â That in itself is a great feat and I'll give this movie a 7/10 as well.
Â
Monsters University- Â Wow. Â I went to this movie with my niece expecting to be entertained but this movie absolutely was phenominal. Â I don't really know why I doubted Pixar/Disney but the idea of a prequel to Monsters Inc. just didn't really excited me that much. Â They really made a fool of me in the first 10 minutes with showing that this movie was a prequel that could've existed as a movie of it's own. Â I had a pretty basic idea of what the movie was going to be like and it was nothing like it in the best possible way. Â SPOILERS AHEAD. Â The whole Mike/Randall roommate idea was brilliant along with the frats being absolutely hilarious. Â I could listen to John Goodman and Billy Crystal joke about paint drying and be entertained for hours, and the voice acting is just superb in this film. Â I'd highly recommend this film to anyone. Â An awesome storyline, beautiful animation, and the same Disney charm that makes a great animated film. Â 8/10
White House Down was MY SH*T!! Hell yeah!! As we hit the halfway point of the year, it's the best movie of 2013 I've seen so far! More thoughts to come soon, WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! This is what I've been missing in the theaters all year long! :D
