To tell you the truth, I have not played that many survival/horror FPS's, so I wouldn't know for sure.

I wish there was a way to get ideas and stories to become a reality....i wrote a trilogy in Chem Class(Gotta use school for something) wrote it out level by level, and am currently detailing Game 3 right now....

The only thing I dont see eye to eye with you, is the fact that you can fight the final boss whenever you want. I'd save that for last, I mean, she is the FINAL boss for a reason. Unless this was a gigantic hospital/asylum, you'll need more of a setting because it will be a bit cramped up in there. It's a really cool idea. Great thread. I'm such a sucker for a good survival/horror game. We need more unique game ideas like this.

yea...first off its too long....i have each Level detailed on two or more MS word pages....approx 13 levels in each game Plus I dont wanna give my story away...one day I want to be a computer programmer...mayeb a game dev But it is a Medium Paced FPS, with a cover system, that focuses on a story as several very different characters join forces to survive rather than save the world like every other game...

Well, thats the point of any open world right? You can do what you want, when you want. Just cause you can fight the final boss in the game, are you going to? It will be practicaly impossible, and all of the fun of doing the side quests will be lost. But I am basically giving this to the gamer and saying 'Do what you want, have fun.'

It is quite a big hospital, with a nice little creepy underground parking garage, but it will all depend on the content avaible to you. If there's lots of side quests and such, the game will be inetesting, and while its all in the hosptial, Ithink I mention the area would start 'changing', blood dripping from ceilings, things growing out of walls and all of that nice stuff.

I might, but also consider this.

What would scare you the most? Fighting supernatural monsters, a crazied super-villian mother, with only a dog at your side, a baby at your back, and your envorment itself, or you fighting all of the above , while you have special powers?

I like this feeling that you are almost complelty outgunned, outnumbered, but you have your intelligence and not much else to save you.

But I might look into some special abilities.

Your totally right. Special abilties might be pushing it but perhaps the would baby unleash some sort of random power whenever it becomes uncomfotable, which would put you at a slight advantage if it helps defeat a crazed monster, or a disadvantage if somehow it affects you.

dude that is very imaginative you should think about doing that as a profession but you need to make sure the story is solid like how did monsters magically appear from the women's mind and stuff like that but kudos for thinking all of that up and you being in a hospital and all you can definitely you can jazz it up alot

alright i too think having a free roam is a great idea but you can't just skip that and go to the final boss i mean you should do what fable does have you compelling side quests and have a mean storyline in which you work your way up, but i hate when people just skip side quests because i fairly enjoy them so if you wish you should make the game like you have to obtain a certain item(in the free roam world or your side missions) to advance in the storyline or complete a # of side missions or a certain one.(each side mission reveals a little about the main characters past and his future or something really cool like that).

Sorry but the controls are nothing new, the gameplay is what eeeevery gamer imagines AND ALONE IN THE DARK 5 PERFECTS IT.

Well the dog thing is AWSOME, very nice idea.

The baby thing SUCKS, very bad idea.

The scenario is freaking disturbing, I LOVE IT !

Dude this is te first user created game idea that i have heard that actually sounds like a blast to play. I can just see a couple of problems with it though. The story might need to be tweaked a bit (maby it's just me but i don't see how a mother hating her child could summon up monsters that go on a killing spree through a hospital) and the other thing is I'm not sure that the whole constant escort mission game play idea is going to work with a wide eray of people. There are allot of people out there that love that type of game though i just don't happen to be one of them. But besides those two things the game sounds great keep working on it and i could see it being a real game some day. (if not here at least in China or some thing like that, Man the get all the good games :(. )

you definitely have something here. in my opinion,this game would be a large hit among players who enjoy survival/horrors. I also love the concept because it drew me in. personally,i never get tired of a good ol' hospital.

To those who are discouraged by killing the mother whenever, you must not forget that even if a player who manages to kill the mother in the beginning, which Millwrought has all ready stated that it would be close to impossible, they still must exit the hospital while being attacked by the daemons.

It's pretty good for a non-game maker, but i kinda see it as a mash of elements from other games.

Baby= Ashley from RE4

Mom= Tyrant from RE3

Dog= almost same thing as in Dead to Rights

Use everything as a weapon= Used in games such as bioshock and Half life (telekinesis and gravity gun)

Executions= Done in countless games

And one more thing, i don't think this game would really work as a first person shooter,first off, how many firearms are in a hospital? And i think that it would be impossible to become even slightly attached to the baby if it's on your back, cause then you can't see it in a FPS, and it would just annoy the **** out of the players.

None of this is meant to rain on your parade bro, this is leagues ahead of anything i could come up with, i just wanted to point out some of the things that i noticed.

Thankfully, Mill seems to take constructive criticism well.

I think it's hard for any game developer whether they actually create and produce games or they come up with ideas like Millwrought, to create a game without elements from previous games. Gaming has been around for a long time Vendetta. I don't think you will ever see the day a NEW game comes out.

Even though Mill mentions the player using the environment as a weapon, I don't think the player will have any sort of Gravity Gun or telekinesis to pick up large objects. We'll see though. He hasn't posted in good few hours.

That sounds like a interesting idea, man. The only problem I have here is that in my experience, people hate random abilties, including the ones that kill them or disadvantage him. But I can look into it abit and see if I come up with something.

Well, I am looking into a profession as ethier a developer, or a writer. And I want to start up my own development studio. So maybe one day this game will see the light of day. And I do have something in mind that explains most of the odd plot pieces.

Well, again, its up to the player. Do they just want to beat the game, or do they want to explore and get stronger so they can take on the mother face to face? The point of a free-roam game, in my opinion, is that you give the player the choice to do what they want.

Alone in the Dark might perfect it, but we won't know until it comes out. But you can bet I will be playing it! And I was not trying to go for ground-breaking controls, just controls that will work and are easy to use.

The baby is a disadvantage, I kinda view this game as a whole thing of disadvantage to the player, so he has to rise above all of his disadvantages to achieve victory.

Its not truly a escort mission, but like and energy shield in Halo, it is just there. So really the baby is just there, it really does not do the much expect attract enemies, and the main boss. And to be freakin annoying!

It sad to say, but I have ever played a RE game lol. And only played Silent Hill The Room I think it was called. Maybe I should check them out if this game is being compared to it. Also have never played Dead to Rights, I should check that out as well.

There won't be a gravity gun or anything, just anything you can smash off with a hammer, or pull off with your bare hands.

I see what you are talking about with the baby, man. I might need to work on that as well, allow a bit more of an connection.

And the reason I deiced on an FPS is that, the first person prespective makes it personal, makes it feel like your there. Also it limits what you see, so will need to use your ears to hear as well as see. While TPS give you an godly, unrealistic view.

OK i see what you're saying. But the only thing is that if you are saying that it is meant to be annoying than i don't know if that's the best thing for a game. But don't take this the wrong way the game still sounds great I'm just saying that I don't like those sort of games all that much (but I could totally see my self playing this game) but there are millions of people that do in the world. So all in all it is a great game idea. Good work

Mill, I was thinking about the whole first-person and third-person, and I think third-person would be great if it was over the shoulder, and I do mean over the shoulder with limited sight. Personally, I think it would turn out great.

Interestingly I jsut realized something.

The Edge combat system after reading it, it seems to only work with an FPS, then and TPS actually. But maybe I am not thinking straight.

And update coming in about an hour, almost finish writing.

Ya, why would you post your idea on an internet forum, I have lots of great ideas for games/devices and I keep them all on notepad files on my computer, I don't share them to anyone on the internet. Its kinda like that commercial with the girl that hangs a pic on the bullitin board and every starts to take the picture and it reappears on the board, and then the dude says to be careful what you post on the internet because once its there, anyone can see it. I think you need to do this, but its too late now.

This game sounds awesome. I like the hospital unlike some people, it provides an incredibly creepy atmosphere. Survival horror is one of my favorite genres: I've always loved the Resident Evil series, Silent Hill series, and Condemned: Criminal Origins(possibly the best horror/thriller game ever, can't wait for part 2). I hope your idea actually gets turned into a game.

I love the idea for the trailer, however I think it should end before the baby. It should be short and simple in my opinion. Cutting it off before the baby is about a minute and some seconds which is a little on the short side, but great in my opinion. The song also goes very well will it. It really adds to the scare factor in my opinion.

Game Title: Hush

Game Description:

You start off the game as Dr. Jason Greenaway, after making your way to the top of the hospital, opening doors and activating elevators as a sort of turtorial, the game skips to a cutscene where Dr. Greenaway see's a patient with a German Shepard, and orders the dog to be removed from the building. Then you make your way to your objective to delivery a baby. While the mother screams psychoicaly to kill the child, Greenaway orders the nurse's to take the child away and to sedate the mother.

... Six day's after the delivery, you check up on the child to see if the everything is going smoothly. When you reach the moteriation room, the Hospitial shakes violently as if an earthquake is in process. Afterwards people start screaming, and mutated humans start mass murdering all of the normal humans in the building.

Greenaway hides in the observation room until the monster's pass, and Jason deiceds to try and escape the building, taking the child with him. Also you when gain the aid of the dog, the German Shepard, as a ally.

Soon Greenaway finds out the child had an birth defect due to the lack of room in womb, and caused the woman exterme pain, and haterd towards the child. Medical reports show she tried to commit suidice many a-times, but with the baby always surviving.

Even with baby finally deilvered, the pain stayed with the woman, causing the mother to want to seek revenge against the child, and kill it.

These powerful emotions allowed the emotionial feeding creature's know only as 'daemons' to create a small gateway into our reailty, right inside the hospital, killing and mutating all there expect for a unlucky few who survive. The daemons also increased the haterd, and pain the mother feels, mutating her into a powerful foe, and hellbent on revenge on the child.

Greenaway must protect the child, at all costs because if the child is sacirficed in vengance, it will only increase the gateway created by the mother, sucking the world into darkness forever. Now Greenaway must make a hard choice. Escape the hellish hospitial, or save the world?

It all lies in your hands, the player, to decide the fate of humanity.

Gameplay:

-Hush is a Survival/Horror game, that plays like an FPS. There is no true 'HUD', no radars, no weapon screens, nothing.

-Hush uses a interesting close combat system called 'Edge'. During fights, you can attack with weapons using the right rigger, shoot firearms you come across, use the left trigger to throw items, or to aim down the sights of a fire arm. Each hit you score with a non-firearm weapon on a enemy will charge your Execution meter. Sucessful blocks from melee attacks will also charge your meter, but if you take damage your meter will go down. Stealth kills on unaware foes will completely fill up the Execution meter. When full, you can use the B button to let loose sicking, but devestation automatic kill move.

-In Hush everything your character can carry, can be used as a weapon. From chairs, to computer monitors, to knives. But your character can not win in a straight fight, so you must use your surrondings to achieve victory.

-The German Shepard (Sparks), is very useful in Hush. He can act as your 'radar', when he grows an enemy(ies) are near, and when the mother is near, he will whimper. He can also fight, protecting yhou from harm, can be helpful in puzzles, or distract humans. Unforuately you cannot contorl the dog.

-The baby you carry of your back is more of a negative element. If you run for long periods of time, or a fight drags on too long, the baby will start crying which attracts enemies, and the uber boss, the mother.

-The Hospital is for you to roam, everywhere is possible. With hundreds of side quests, and many mini bosses, you can do what you want, when you want. You can even take on the final boss at the beginning of the game if you so choice, but the more you do, the easier the final boss will be.

-You can tell when the mother is almost upon you, when you start hearing a female voice singing nusery rhymies.

Co-op:

-Team up with another player over online or offline spilt-screen and take on the campaign together.

-Unlimited movement, you can be at the underground garage and your friend can be on the top floor. No limitations.

-Each player will have advatages to use against the daemons. The host will have the baby on his back, while the other player will get the dog as an ally.

Trailer Idea 1:

(Background song by Johnny Cash: Hurt)

{Music starts to a black screen.} (5 seconds)

{Camara slowly moves down a hospitial hallway, gurneys lay on their sides soaked with blood, seven torn and ripped corpses litter the path the camara takes, doors ripped open lay on the ground.} (20 seconds)

{Camara turns to the right and goes into a large room, this time a daycare for children in the hospitial. Childrens corpses litter the room with blood on the walls, you see several mutated daemon-dogish creatures are still devoring the bodies. Asorted muilti-colored slides, and plush dolls lay on the ground as the camara passes over them.} (30 seconds)

{Screen goes black} (5 seconds.)

{Camara reappears in what appears to be a opperating room, several dead medical officals are on the ground with heads missing, or chucks missing from their bodies. Person on opperating table is still alive, and screaming as what seemed to be a mutated patient, IV draging on the ground, wearing an appron giggles and camara pans to see the mutatnt is eating the persons left leg.} (20 seconds)

{Screen goes black} (5 seconds)

{Camara goes down another hallway, but this time among the violatated huamn corpses are the bodies of mutated humans and several corpses of bird-like daemons with crushed skulls. You see a lone figure on his knees repeatly hiting the dead-corpse of one of the daemons, crying as he does so.} (15 seconds.)

{Figure gives the corpse one last hit, and slowly gets up and turn's towards camara, holding a bloodly claw hammer in his hands. Camara zooms in on the man.} (10 seconds)

{We start hearing a muffled wailing of an child, and the blood soaked figure we can see in detail his wearing a docter's attire complete with white jacket stained in red. He reaches in back of him, and takes out a baby. He cradles it, rocking it slowly back and forth in his blood stained hands until child claims down.} (15 seconds.)

{Person puts child back, and looks around the area around him with troubled eyes, camara zooms in slowly on his face. We hear a dog growing and figure moves away off to the right.} (15 seconds)

{Screen goes black.} (5 seconds)

{Camara shows same person bending on the floor next to a large german sheppard. He pets the dog, who also seems blood soaked, with a bit of flesh on its muzzle. German Sheppard grows at something in a half-opened drawer of an office desk with pictures of a family, with blood spots on it. A man rests in a office chair, half of his face missing.} (15 seconds.)

{Figure smiles, reaches inside and pulls out the man lunchs, spilts it into halves, gives one half to german sheppard, and pockets the rest. He then glances towards the raido which is playing the trailer song. Man bends down and pulls out anouther drawer and grabs something, the figure smiles. He pulls out a pistol, and checks the magazine and chamber.} (15 seconds.)

{Man pushes the corpse out of the chair, and pulls out the baby and cradles it again while he sits down in the chair with his back to the office door. Whispering to the child, while setting the pistol on the desk. Dog glances at office door and whimpers, and moves over to mans fit and lays down.} (15 seconds.)

{Camara slowly zooms out off the office. Shows many daemons stealthily crawling on the walls, and lots mutated humans moving akwardly towards the door. Screen slowly goes black.} (25 seconds.)

{Logo comes up on the empty screen.} (5 seconds.)

well go to the videogame industry...like a graphic designer and possibly after a couple of years you can become a gaming producer by introducing your idea... and like David Jaffe you could bring your "dream game" to life... that's how he is now a well known gaming producer...

looks like a pretty cool game....but roaming only in the hospital is quite boring....exploring the city is cool

been waiting for a horror game that allows u to roam. i like the part about the dog and baby thing.

also,this game is all about making decisions...i like it too!

i like the idea. the name is awesome for the theme of the game. the trailer is killer (mainly the song choice) but maybe a bit too long. a solution to the "playing the whole game in the hospital being boring" problem could be that towards the end of the game (maybe the last quarter of it) you are forced to enter the world where the evil stuff is coming from to retrieve the bay (which was taken) and to destroy the source.

ps, i didnt read all the posts in this topic so if this was already brought up, my apologies.

It's staying alive because people appreciate great games. This just happens to be one of them. I don't understand why you would be rude to some who is so polite and thanks people for their comments.

That sounds like a interesting idea, man. The only problem I have here is that in my experience, people hate random abilties, including the ones that kill them or disadvantage him. But I can look into it abit and see if I come up with something.

Well, I am looking into a profession as ethier a developer, or a writer. And I want to start up my own development studio. So maybe one day this game will see the light of day. And I do have something in mind that explains most of the odd plot pieces.

Well, again, its up to the player. Do they just want to beat the game, or do they want to explore and get stronger so they can take on the mother face to face? The point of a free-roam game, in my opinion, is that you give the player the choice to do what they want.

Alone in the Dark might perfect it, but we won't know until it comes out. But you can bet I will be playing it! And I was not trying to go for ground-breaking controls, just controls that will work and are easy to use.

The baby is a disadvantage, I kinda view this game as a whole thing of disadvantage to the player, so he has to rise above all of his disadvantages to achieve victory.

Its not truly a escort mission, but like and energy shield in Halo, it is just there. So really the baby is just there, it really does not do the much expect attract enemies, and the main boss. And to be freakin annoying!

It sad to say, but I have ever played a RE game lol. And only played Silent Hill The Room I think it was called. Maybe I should check them out if this game is being compared to it. Also have never played Dead to Rights, I should check that out as well.

There won't be a gravity gun or anything, just anything you can smash off with a hammer, or pull off with your bare hands.

I see what you are talking about with the baby, man. I might need to work on that as well, allow a bit more of an connection.

And the reason I deiced on an FPS is that, the first person prespective makes it personal, makes it feel like your there. Also it limits what you see, so will need to use your ears to hear as well as see. While TPS give you an godly, unrealistic view.

I had a brief idea once where you were fighting zombies in the hospital:) ALthough you eventually left it, but I only put like five minutes into it. ANyway, do you appen to have ALOT of time on your hands?
