I like it. It sounds dark and gruesome.
Might actually make a better movie though or you could be one of those pioneers to push story in games.
For some reason reading the story made me think of the Silent Hill movie.

A book would be great, especially if you have a good imagination.
Sounds interesting, but being stuck in the hospital for the entire game might not be such a good idea.Trickshot771It could include like 6 or 7 buildings, which you could either use the longer, but safer indoor route or the short dangerous outdoor route. Plus there would probably be like lobbies in every building. I REALLY want to play this! But maybe it could be TPS.
Thanks for the post faisal_a3!
The hospital would change after awhile, change due to daemonic occupation, reflect the inner psychological condition of the mother.
To saiyanlarry.
I am sorry you think so, man. I try to respond to everyones posts, feedback is one of the most powerful processes of game development. In my opinion.
Thanks for the post hschaf!
I will consider your idea, man. But since the daemon live in a different plane of existance, it might be hard to do. Maybe the heart of the daemon occupation of the hospital.
Thanks for the post Torous!
Thanks for the tip, man! I am currently writing a script for the game, so I try to keep this in mind.
Thanks for your post Hickamie14!
Actually I do and don't, soon I will be heading off to college so I might not have that much time soon enough. Its a shame because of have at least 2 other projects I have. (Coma, and ...To end all wars.)
Thanks for yor post msdd9!
If someone does a movie about it, the movie would scare me too death lol. I wouldn't consider myself a pioneer just beacuse games like Bioshock and Mass Effect have great stories, and did it first.
Thanks for the post Eseyze!
I might work on a book project, I always wanted to be a writer.
Thanks for the post texasfight54!
Hosptial are actually quite big if you go to a large one like Childrens in Seattle. (Which I had to vist, saddly, very disturbing.)
Actually my vist was one of the inspriations for this game, I was in the waiting room and I just started thinkin'.
Thanks for the comments so far everyone!
Lol I have only read the book 'I am Legend' didn't see the movie. (I heard it was lame.)
Of course the story needs work, I am not that talented at plot development. But I am still writing the full script.
dude this is a awsome idea
well while i was reading your game run down i saw you said something about how small gateways are made well how about as the game moves on it gets bigger also make it so you can see the gateway most of the game out windows and such and as the gateway gets bigger with it more powerful things come and you can also somehow link it to how to baby feels like add some system if they baby is somehow near death or corrupted or your corrupted
i could go on with this but i dont really want to make some wall of text here
ps. the gateway changing thing i said here was influnced from half life 2 what can i say it was a awsome idea
Thanks for the idea Darktiger, it sounds like an awesome idea. I will consider it with the overall story.
the game sounds good.
when you said coop i thought you were ganna end up saying one person is the guy and the other is the baby...haha that would be interesting
but i would love to play this game
millwrought wrote: "You can tell when the mother is almost upon you, when you start hearing a female voice singing nusery rhymies."
First of all it sounds pretty sweet! Second, when I read that part, I could just hear this creepy voice singing "Hush little baby" in my head while you here footsteps pattering down the dark hallways.
dude this game idea is awesome and just thinking about the idea in a hospital and mother singing nursery ryhmes would scare the living s**t out of me. for one i hate hospitals two i would be scared anyways. i hope someone makes your game. great idea great idea
though do have the scenery change alot but everything else would be perfect the coop yeah!! i would never leave my room
Wow I am pretty surprised this is going, but I am more surprised a majority of people posting here actually liking it. Thanks for the support and help everyone! If I ever make this game, You folks will be in the credits!
And to destinhpark, you are entitled with your own opinion or course, and I respect it. But It would be helpful if you stated what you did not like about it. I really look to the feedback of the gamers for what they like and they don't like.
And to Eseyze, lol you have been here forever :P But actually I am still writing the story and such (Its huge lol...) I should have another trailer idea up here soon, probebly next monday. Also I will post some ideas for some enemies.
And to ancoulon, to my memory, your one of the few people who have commented on the co-op (Though I can be, and probebly wrong.), thanks man!
Lets hope this comes to life one day!
I have actually never played, but I saw that level on Game Invasion lol.
zspec562, that was actually a quite abit of help, thanks man! And yet another arguement for the 3rd person instead of the 1st person lol, but I can see your folks point.
I am currently using the story right now as a place-holder until I can sort through all of my ideas, and have them make sense, and not sound lame at the same time.
I have actually never played HL: 1, so I would not know.
Thanks for the thoughts clayron, it might get a AO, but I have seen sicker stuff in the Silent Hill series, so I think I might be fine.
And, again, as I mentioned many times, the hospital will be quite large, have a roof, courtyard, and underground parking garage and such. So I am sure there will be plenty to do.
Very good idea, I would definitely play this game if it came out. If you could give the game a condemned, silent hill type feel it would be creepy.
I like the idea of a big hospital/asylum. You should limit the player to the hospital, a courtyard, basement, helipad and parking structure. To limit the player to these areas the mother should have some sort of power and throw it into like an alternate reality. Almost like in the darkness he jumps between hell and reality.
The FPS shooter idea is cool but I think the game might be better served being a third person. I dont know if this was brought up already but I think the game should be in real time, meaning no time to pause the game and look at the map or use button combinations to block enemies etc.
I think another cool addition to the game (depending how long the event takes place) would be to maintain yourself, the baby, and the dog. For example needing to eat, going to a cafeteria and finding food. If you get hurt treating and bandaging wounds etc. I would make the game a lot more strategy based and intense. distructable environments and deteriorating conditions would always be cool. breaking down doors with tools or smashing windows to get to important places, but also drawing lots of attention to yourself.
I like the idea of the baby crying and interacting with the environment, I think you should be able to take of the backpack and set the baby down for periods of time in order to do certain things that require more stealth. To keep players from just ditching the baby and coming back for it have the mother track the baby while it is off your back and not be able to when the baby is with you.
On a story note making the mother posessed giving her powers and special abilities to bring demons through portals and stuff. Alos the demons should not be slow sluggish zombies like resident evil or anything, but they should be quick and intelligent being able to track you and keep you moving, being smart and taking different routes through the hospital, altering your tracks etc. (maybe moving through ventilation ducts etc.) Her reason for trying to kill the baby could be she has some sort of spirit within her and the baby was predestined to do something great and the evil spirit within her must stop this from happening etc. give the main character a vision before hell breaks lose showing him what he needs to know, what he needs to do. maybe after the delivery he goes to the break room and takes nap but has a horrible nightmare/preminition, wakes up goes to visit the baby and the lights go out something like that.
I dont think the SWAT team or anything would be a good idea, you should be alone and rely on only yourself, realize that no help is coming other than the survivors if any still in the hospital due to the fact you are in another dimension.
Multiple endings and relying on survivors could be a good idea like in dead rising.
anyway just some things i thought of, good luck to you and keep the ideas coming, one of the main areas to improve would be the story finding a new way to implement the mother baby element, other than some sort of infection etc.
p.s. the mother should look creepy as hell like the arab_prince avatar lol... VV
Wow evillaw4eva, thanks for all of the ideas, some were quite good! Actually alot of people want it 3rd person, so I will have to look into possiblely into changing it, and changing the control scheme.
I like your ideas for the story, and I have about five story lines floating in my head right now lol, so idk. But I will work on to for sure.
Also on topic about feeding yourself/baby/dog sounds interesting, but you should't really be in the hospitial long enough for food to really be nesseray. This whole game is real time. So at the most I am guessing at people spending 20 hours in one play through.
But you will be dressing your wounds and such, and also make pain medication and such. So this game focuses more on playing it smart then as a battle heavy space marine.
And also I don't know if this couldbe a masterpiece, its my first work after all lol!
Thanks for the ideas and commentes folks!
P.S. The mother will be all sorts of creepy lol, dont fret.
Well I see it as a win-win stutation.
If someone takes my game and makes it, I can play it.
If I ahve to be the one who makes it, I can get the feedback of the gamers.
Evillaw4eva, I really agree with some of your suggestions such as the mother with the evil spirit trying to kill the baby who is destined for great and then Dr. Greenaway having a vision after the delivery of the chaos that is soon to happen. Also, the multiple endings sound really cool. Certain actions in the game could really affect the outcome of the game like if the player kills the mother early on in the game, or later on.
However, I think the idea of some sort of special forces team appearing would be a good idea. If some sort of crazy portal releasing demons appeared all of a sudden on it, I'm pretty sure some group of elite marines would be there in a heartbeat. Of course, they wouldn't be your allies as they would probably think you're just another demon but during some of the events in the game, the player could persuade these marines to help you and escape with you.
In a sense, Bioshock's humans were mutated. But I get what you mean.
The story suggested a couple posts ago, is interesed, but I got a story pinnd down right now, that really explains everything satisfactory. (At least to me.) But I don't think I am going to put it up here for abit.
And on the subject of different endings to the game, I am not a big fan of it personally, after thinking about it. Sure it gives the player a sense of them doing what they want to do, but if a sequel was made to this game (Big IF), then there will be an 'offical' ending, and the player will feel like his/hers efforts were wasted in the long run.
And stay tuned, I am working on the next trailer idea, and a list of most of the enemies in the game. (Expect for the most importent ones that effect the story. Thanks for the commentes/ideas folks!
MINOR UPDATE:
Sorry about the long wait folks, the list of a sample of the creatures is taking longer then I hoped, and I am havin' problems with some parts of the trailer.
But it should be done by tomorrow, and I have a little bonus to come with the update. Nothing big, but I like it, and its short and to the point.
i loved the crying baby and the dog, something which would be even more spooky is if the dog sometimes ran away because it can smell a monster, so your kind of left alone and trying to find your dog again. (sort of the same thing that happends in I am Legend, where the dog runs in to one of the hives..)
:)
and the nusery song from the mother would be super too :)
Pretty awesome. I like that quite a bit, needs a bit of fixing up, but I am sure you are aware of that. Just a few tips as I noticed some people think the environment will get too repetive:
You could have small areas which are like in another dimension or something.
You could have areas mutated by hellish forces.
Also, to do with the mother, I think it would be cool if she were more shadow like and the screen started to wobble and stuff when she gets near
sounds pretty cool, a couple of questions tho
1. how would lighting be used in the game, would there be flickering wall lamps or very small amounts of sunlight (or even "stormy day" grey sky daylight) or would it be mainly all darkness?
2. (just a suggestion) maybe the baby is the key to defeating the mother, like seeing her child would distract her and give you a chance to lay some serious beatdown into her.
3. how would killing the mother open the doors for you to escape, does she have a key or would killing her undo whatever shes done to lock the door
I am also currently showing my game ideas to the public. for survival horror fans you can check out my topic here on the X360 board. The game is called Eclipse
Thanks for the combat system idea, I have actualtly have never played Manhunt so I would not know how it works in-game, but I give it soem thought.
Good idea about the dog danish!
And of course it needs fixing, and I like the ideas, also the whole enviorment (The Hospital) changes depending on the amount of time you spend on the game. And I like the ides for the mother!
And to answer your questions DuelKing:
1 Really depends on where you are fighting, most of the hospital is a mix between flickering light, and darkness. (With some bright areas.) The Roof top/courtyards will to be very light/stormy day mixes. And the underground parking garage is pure dark.
2. Possiblity. thanks for the idea man.
3. This whole thing is focused on her, so killing her would knock the powers holding the hospital on their toptoes, giving the chance to escape.
And ALSO!
UPDATE! Trailer 2 is finished, it took me awhile. Enjoy. It can be found on main post.
