ok how about this, like sum doors lead u into the demononitc world, just to mix up the setting so ur not only in the hospital and u can do sidequests there, like a stranded survivor lost their child in that realm and u have to rescue it in the demonotic world. jsut a thot to mix up the setting....
Great idea, I would play that fo' sho'
Maybe as an explanation as to where the demons are coming from, you could create a history for the hospital, make up accidents and other tragedies that have happened there.
Also I heard the source engine is really simple to use, you could try using that if you ever want to try your hand at making it.
Possible, but I have an scirpt always finished aswell, I just wanted to keep most of the story under-wraps. But I like the ideas!
And I didn't think Valve let people mess around with their engine for free, or is it like modding, I was never good at programming or with 3d design. I am more of a writer.
Sounds interesting, but the "birth defect due to lack of room in the womb" thing isn't going to fly at all. Babies don't have birth defects because there isn't room in there, they have birth defects either due to genetic anomalies (such as craniosynostosis) or due to environmental toxins/drugs (such as thalidomide).
In terms of plot, it might be better if the mother has some sort of mutation (which results both in the pain she experienced, the baby's birth defect(s) and maybe even her proneness to being a gateway for the daemons). Alternatively, she could have been a human guinea pig for a new drug in the hospital that was given to her by a rogue doctor/biotech company. Either way, she would have to misunderstand what had happened to her and blame the baby for her pain and suffering, or the game mechanic of her being the big badass would fail.

That's a good idea. In the story have someone testing a new drug on her, and when it has negative effects, they tell her it' the babies fault which causes all the stuff to happen.
Sounds like an interesting plot idea, I also have like 3 other ideas in my mind right now, I just dont put them up fully because I want to keep some of the story under wraps.
The current plot line up on the main page is more ther to give an idea on what the plot could look like. Its no where near the finally story.
I only read the first few pages but i love the idea. Suggestion: Maybe the hospital could be situated on a "hell-mouth" of sorts, a point on earth that can be linked directly to the daemon world. You could include a backstory about the hospital. Like strange things are known to happen there and unexplained violence and the onset of insanity and hallucinations in some patients. Now the mother who comes in to have the baby is a drug addict and not in her right mind. She could have been a rape victim who didnt want the baby int he first place but an abortion wasnt available. The city should be sort of run down and slowly declining but no one knows why (its because of the hell mouth slowly corrupting the city). These factors all heighten the mothers emotions in the first place. During the mothers experience in the hospital we should see thru her eyes until the birth (as a sort of cutscene). Coincidentally, the daemonic power is in full swing at the time this is happening and they sense the mother is a good vessel for them to inhabit and she is weak enough to control. The daemons need a human host unstable enough to be manipulated. Thru the mothers eyes we see the daemons, and during labor they make a deal with her: they will kill her baby if she gives up her body to them. She starts to mutate during the birth but the doctor (Greenwood, is it) is able to free the baby before she can kill it. Because the daemons havent fufilled their part of the deal (killing the baby, because you stopped them) the mother maintains control of her mind and body and can use the daemonic power to attempt to kill the baby. If the mother kills the baby she basically lets the daemons enter the real world.....so thats the reason the baby cant be killed.
And I dont think you should expand the game into the city, the hospital is just fine. Especially because it could transform. It could reflect the mothers emotions. If she is really angry one room could could be on fire, or if she was upset it could be snowing in another room. If she cries a room can flood. She could try to trick you into coming to her by beeing really sweet and a room could transofmr into a beautiful forest to try to lure you to her. And then the hospital should slowly start turning demonic and twisted throughout the game.

Wow! I thought interest in this game was lost lol!
Thanks for all of the comments folks! sk8ter33157, you have a good idea there, but I have already got most of the story down in my head. And I am probebly will keep it hospital area, though if a sequel was made, I would probebly make it so you move around the city.
And IARI_Sandman_21, what company does your game developer friend work for?
Right now he just got out of school to be a video game designer. He has already made a game, though youve prob never played it, World In Ruins, he made about 10 copies and game them to all his freinds to see how it looked and played and it was amazing, it woulda sold a million copies if he woulda published it. But hes starting up a new company right now so im sure that he would be interested in your idea. My email is ethan2116@yahoo.com msg me there so we can chat about itWow! I just read all 9 thread pages of this, very interesting idea. If my mind hasnt fooled me ,is this game still turnbased combat system? many ideas are being put together, and there are obviously limitations of what can be implemented into this game, from ideas of other forumers have thought and suggested. The idea of co-op system interest me greatly, the idea of freeroaming totally different areas of the hospital without your companion near your side is pretty good, will this shorten the length of the game so more mini bosses are killed faster and the mother is confronted faster than a person playing by themself? in my opinion the co-op system probably would be a challenging idea to create/implement, I think survival/horror fps games are better played with it being played single player in the storymode of the game. I still think this game is a very good idea. keep up the work , this game could work out.
Wow Xxgood-timesXx, reading all 9 pages? You deserve a cookie for that!
Thanks for the ideas, It's not turnbased combat anymore, because posters stated that it would ruin the action and horror. Actually, the Co-Op version is not really the story more, it has tons of more content, like more side boss battles, quests, upgrades, and more.
