The 360 Recommendation Thread - What Game Should I Get? *56k* (Updated 13/06)

I was interested in getting either Ikaruga or Rez HD, since I've been wanting to play them back in the day but I couldn't find copies. I like the shooter like games, and these 2 are my top 2. I only want to spend 800 points(so no Puzzle Quest). So which is better between the two or are there better alternatives?Naganox777

Have you tried the demos for them on the marketplace? That'd help you reach a decision a lot better than others inflicting their opinions on you.

It is hard to decide whether I should get Devil May Cry, Halo 3, or Assasin's Creed all of these are good gamesHaLoMaStErJT

I personally didn't like DMC 4, Halo 3 is great if you have LIVE and like a good storyline and 4 player co-op, and Assassin's Creed is good but it can really get old quick.

So I would say Halo 3.

well, gears of war for shooter 9/10, lost oddysey for role-playing 7/10, burnout paradise for racing 9/10, mass effect for shooting and rpg 10/10, and bioshock for fps with rpg elements 10/10. and i highly recomend oblivion it's got good story, replay value, decent action, and it's a long game. but if you could only get one (excluding oblivion) based on the fact you obviosly like shooters i STONGLY reccomend bioshock

Oblivions's certainly worth it - try to get the GOTY edition. Mass Effect is worth another good RPG, and Lost Odyssey is a great JRPG. Dead Rising and Viva Pinata are two great games, whcih can generally be found fairly cheap.

im getting a 360 this summer, but need some help. for one, how does the arcade work? 2: just how many of the original Xbox games can it play? and for 3: do i need to get a cooler, or will it be good without one? please answer.Koto2291

Arcade is the same but with no hard drvie but a memory card. So you cant download demos, movies etc unless you buy one but you can save your data

I dont know about coolers but as long as you dont play for eg 4 hours straight it will be fine

Alright I'm getting a Xbox 360 Pro this summer and I'm not sure if I should get Halo 3 or GTA IV as my first game. I'm kind of leaning towards GTA IV because I'm not going to be getting XBL until a month or two afterwards and I know GTA IV will last me a lot longer w/o XBL. GTA4. if you've played Halo 2, then I can't say that Halo 3 feels drastically different. it's an okay game, but i kind of regret spending the whole $60. i haven't played GTA4 yet, but with all the high scores, positive community feedback, and loads of single player content, it doesn't look like you can go wrong.

and since you won't be getting XBL, I suggest making a Silver account, then when you want gold XBL, you can just upgrade that account. This way, you won't lose your achievements.

Mass Effect for me, definately. Oblivion, although vast, I found boring while Mass Effect, with a couple of flaws, epic and more exciting and enticing.

Headset and chatpad pack

I have Halo 3 collectors edition already but I have the broken game disk problem with the metal case but my friend just got a 360 with Halo 3 and Gears of War and I would like to play online with him but I quite enjoy Ghost Recon. My headset is broken and I have seen the headset with chat pad for 15gpb with is 2gpb more than the headset so it seems worth getting the chat pad as well.

Thoughts?

which should i get, guitar hero 3 or rock band? i want to get the guitar controller too. i am 39 years old and like classic rock and some new metal type stuff (like linkin park, disturbed, godsmack, incubus, etc..) so what is your recommendation? i want to be able to play some music on the guitar.skyyfox1

If you've got a group of friends getting all the other instruments aswell, get Rock Band. Otherwise, get Guitar Hero 3.

Alternatively, you can check the list of tracks for Rock Band and Guitar Hero 3, and decide based on which appeals to you the most.

Consider Halo 3, Call of Duty 4 and The ORange Box.

SInce you like Racers PGR 4 and Burnout Paradise

try out Assassins Creed and maybe give Crackdown a rent.

Other than that id be guessing, i cant really think of a Viva Pinata like game, except something else made by Rare like Kameo. jg4xchamp

Should I get Gears of War, Assassin's Creed or the Orange Box. I missed out on Gears, but I thought AC might be a nice change to shooters, and the OB is just awesome!

I don't really care about GoW's multiplayer being empty, or HL2's dated graphics compared to Episode 2, so...

I really would NOT recommend AC. Gow's campaign you should not miss out on but, if you have yet to play HL, i would say get the OB over gears 1st

I agree there, I got Gears of War yesterday and its very good but Orange Box has much more on offer. Gears of War is very populated online, I got into a full game on first search yesterday (well I was the last person in the 8 player game I should say) and its really good. Its hard to get going well online, it takes practice, it took me ages to get a kill but its really good once you get going.

Team Fortress 2 is on the Orange Box if you are looking for multiplayer games as well or if you want single player then Half Life is the way to go I would personally say.

Naruto but mainly because i'm a fan of the anime/manga. Timeshift and blacksite are pretty much shooters or whatever that never interested me.
