The Official GTA IV Trailer thread.

It looks more like New York than Liberty City to me. Maybe they are using a real location?

Still I'm impressed, the game looks nice.

it clearly reads 'liberty city' on the platypus freighter and 'liberty' all over the city.  their style is satire - they'd never do a real city.

The graphics werent that amazing, very good but not amazing.....I guess I was expecting something amazingstu_gamer

The guy definatly sounded Russian but he didnt look it, Looked more like someone from more Central America.

One City, City. Nothing else :(. Its just gona be GTA3 with nicer gfx :(.

Ok iv not seen to many Eastern Europeans before so that would be a mistake on my part.

 As for the One City part chances are this will be in more than one city and it is possible he could head to Europe at some point depending on how he ended up in LC in the first place, But I would definatly say there will be more than 1 city.

The sign that said _iber_y Ferry Terminal is actually the Liberty Street Ferry Terminal in real New York. This game is in New York, not Liberty city

It is Liberty City, look at the platypus, the ship, what does it read underneath? .. Liberty City. The dock as well looks identical to the one in GTA 3. The ferry you can see a part of it, and it says Liberty on it. Right before the IV comes upstop the trailer and look ath the shore line, looks a lot like "stauton" (idk how to spell it). There is also a clue with the statue he is standing in front of.

Rockstar has a tendency to make enviorments look a lot like their real life counter-parts. San Andreas had the same features as San Fransisco, and Vegas. Regardless what anyone says this is Liberty City.

Can't wait til Ocbober.

And I'm happy that it's a Russian guy..... because I'm Russian/Ukranian. 

I just saw the trailer... The guy is Russian, the graphics can be described as a small step up from Oblivion. Definitely better than Crackdown but not better than Gears at all. Other than that, the trailer was pretty much lame. It showed cars driving and people walking, and this guy talking about selling people.SuperSambo

are u an idiot?   this and gears arent even close to on the same page.  gears looks so good becuase you follow a set path.  This game looks a little under gears graphics and its an entire city you can explore.  Go back to school or finish it. 

There is one thing that contradicts everything I said. Even if it is Liberty City, it is not the same city as in GTA 3. There are two bridges that run parallel to each other, which was not in the original. As well as the bridges.

Whatever, I'm not worried about it, looking forward to it.  

I have to admit, I'm disappointed with the setting/location Rockstar has chosen for GTA4.   There's way too many games that are loosely based or spot on of NYC.    We already have Driver: Parallel Lines which is the closest representation of NYC and I really doubt GTA4 will even come close to DriverL.   We also have Grand Theft Auto 3, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, Saints Row and True Crime: Streets of New York and I'm pretty sure were missing a few others as well.

I mean, I'm gonna be honest with you, I'm tired of the "New York" setting.   I wouldn't mind even if it took place in another American city.   It would even be sweeter if took place in Toronto (my home town) .   GTA4 couldv'e took place anywhere in Europe or Asia etc.   Heck, I even think Australia would be a cool place.

I will buy this game and I think I will be bored with the "New York" setting because it has been done too many times and it's like beating a dead horse.

FFS it's NOT nyc.  it's BASED on nyc, obviously, but all gta cities are satirical, alternate versions of real cities.

this is like saying "zomg, that's the luxor in las venturas.  it's vegas!"
