The new ones online only and well UT_WRESTLER has it completely right, I know they were doing it for fans but they are being * for not putting a single player in the game. I much prefer a single player game, I am gonna say this once there is no point to online games anymore! at all! why? because even the dirt under your house knows that WoW can't be beaten! so I wish companies would just leave online alone! the only reason they do it is to make money, its pathetic all they had to do was make a single player game.stike22
and what is stupid is that of they just made kotor 3, no one would be pissed, they would make plenty of money, and it would get tons of award's etc if done right.
I'm a BioWare fan, and although I'd like to see what they would do with an MMO, I would rather have had another single-player game to continue the Knights storyline.
It's like if after Baldur's Gate, and Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn, they were just like, "Surprise! Throne of Bhaal is going to be an MMO." That would have sucked.
who here thinks that obsidian could do it? i think they could, as long as those jerks at lucasarts dont rush them again........hughamiThat's a good point. I usually don't remember the fact that Obsidian rushed the product to get it out. I think Obsidian could do a good job as long as they aren't rushed. I liked the majority of KOTOR 2 but obviously it was the weaker of the two KOTOR games. As for the topic, I would rather have KOTOR 3 than The Old Republic (although I will still try it out). For those of us that have played the first 2 KOTOR games, we know what those games have. The first two KOTOR games had great characters and a storyline that Star Wars and RPG fans craved. The cast of characters for the first KOTOR game was very memorable. From Mission to HK-47, this cast of characters were great. The only downside was that you could only have 2 in the party at one given time hehe My problem with this being a MMO is that the storyline could very well suffer. We all know that in MMO games, storyline is an after thought to questing and leveling and getting loot. Even though Bioware assures us that there will be a strong storyline, I just don't see it happening. I've played some MMO games and storyline is seemingly hidden. Anyone remember that epic FFXI storyline? How about a great MMO like World of Warcraft? Remember that epic storyline there? Yes these MMO games have storylines and a plot but they will ALWAYS be an after thought because leveling up and getting epic loot is the goal all along. It was the story and characters that made KOTOR an epic adventure that has many fans talking about the game years after its' release. The first KOTOR game is considered by many people not only as one of the best RPGs on the xbox, but also a classic game that will be remembered for a long time. An MMO title puts very little emphasis on storyline and characters. It just takes away everything the first two KOTOR games were all about. I'm the kind of a person that would take an epic storyline over multiplayer or MMO anyday. I'm still going to try out The Old Republic, but I would perfer a fantastic single player RPG game than a MMO with a monthly fee.
i say they murdered the series...why the hell did they have to go and make it a mmorpg???
isn't it enough to have star wars galaxies???
if they do include old stuff i'll be pissed. if we cant have kotor 3 set after the events of kotor 2. i would be more than happy for it to be set in either the great hyperspace war, the sith war, or the mandalorian wars. i mean in kotor 2 when atton talks about what he did for the sith during the mandalorian wars, i just imagined how cool it would be to play through that time line etc. plenty of awesome possibilities. this "tor" has TORn out a huge whole in my soul lol. tor can suck it. long live KOTOR!!!!!hughamiany thoughts on this idea?
I think tor will be able to continue the unfinished storyline, except it's in MMO format. Yeah, bioware/obsidian should continue the series, get a whole new character, etcgloomy_druidThat's not true. From what I've read, the game actually will take place in a different time period.
It just kind of blows my mind that not enough people at Bioware or Obsidian would think of making the 3rd installment to this franchise.gr8scottNeither one of those studios owns the rights to the Star Wars IP, that would belong to Lucas Arts, so if you're going to point the finger at someone, that's who to be angry at. Really, it's all about money now, Lucas Arts sees the MMO genre as a chance to get tons money. In an mmo, you pay a monthly fee whereas in a single-player game you pay for the game and you're done. And unfortunately, they're whoring the KOTOR name in order to do so.
Yeah, The Old Republic takes place in a different time period as UT_Wrestler mentioned. I have beat the second KOTOR and there are still some questions that have left to be answered. ****POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT BELOW****** * * * * * At the end of KOTOR 2, there is a scene with Carth and Bastila. They said they were still trying to find out what happened to "Darth Revan". Now let me ask you fans this. Isn't that something you would like to find out with KOTOR 3? What did happen to Revan after the events of the first KOTOR game? Isn't that really a strong storyline that Obsidian or Bioware could really make something good out of? There is also a storyline they could continue with involving Kreia and your character. If not Kreia, what happened to Atris? We are all assuming Kreia went down in the end of the game. What about the other Jedi that survived? KOTOR 2's ending was a HUGE cliffhanger (and disappointment). That is definitely a storyline that could continue. It's not even close to being completed. I know I was waiting to see what could happen. Anyone else feel the same? Make no mistake, I was disappointed with KOTOR 2's ending. However, I do realize this game was rushed and it could have been better had it not been rushed. That makes the case for making KOTOR 3 (a single player RPG) that much stronger doesn't it? The need to continue telling the storyline. Afterall, wasn't the storyline the best part of these KOTOR games? I don't care if they pick it up with Revan or your "exile" jedi from the second game. As long as the story is relevant with the time frame, I'd just like to see the 3rd game. It just kind of blows my mind that not enough people at Bioware or Obsidian would think of making the 3rd installment to this franchise.gr8scott
i personally wanted to fight with revan i dont even care about the exile, but it would have been awesome to discover the "true sith" first hand etc. i mean just because in an rpg you cant fit endless crappy stories like in an mmo, doesnt mean the storyline it does have would suck. quite the opposite, they could fit a huge storyline and quests etc in kotor 3 on xbox 360 and todays pc's. look at mass effect and elder scrolls oblivion, theyve ot huge storyline that go on for days. and with the 360 we could get downloads for new gear and locations and quests etc. and the pc version can always be modded like the old ones. im thinking of getting kotor 1 and 2 since i sold them and my xbox to afford my 360 and dont want to play them on it because they wont be as good. just so i can have some real kotor action and have some fun using mods etc. i have no idea why kotor 3 wouldnt be made, us fans want it, and the company to develop it will make a huge jackpot and win awards.
I would have preferred an actual single-player game that continued the unfinished story rather than another stupid WoW clone.UT_WrestlerI thought that the The Old Republic was a continuation of the KOTOR story in MMO form.
Keep in mind like I posted earlier (and I'm sure most of you know) that just because they're making TOR, doesn't mean KOTOR 3 is gone for good. They leave about 500 years after KOTOR storyline to make up their own TOR storyline. If they're stupid enough to not make KOTOR 3 (God forbid) they'd probably have to announce that no other KOTOR game shall be made just so they'd stop getting the hate mail or anything like that.moose_knucklerdid you check out that article, i know its not a link but you can copy and paste the url. anyways i was on the tor forums beetching about it and they al said that tor is going to replace kotor, and that the devs themselves said that its the actual sequel to kotor 2 :( . i just hope to god that isnt really true.
