AMEN! honestly one of the best thing about KOTOR story is it revolves around your character...god the first one was brilliant and in its time it was incredible, the sceond added much mre options and stuff that the first one needed and the story brilliant sequel to the first...DAMN it makes me want a KOTOR 3 right now...and you know the funny thing its very rare for me but I actually liked a lot of the characters...Canderous for instance in the second one he is Mandalore and it tells you what happens to him afterwards on Wiki.stike22yeah i guessed that straight away, on youtube theres a vid of canderous telling the exile about revan and its modded so he doesnt have a helmet he has a beard. canderous is always in my party when it comes to combat and everything in general in kotor, playing it again and he's awesome. im trying to do all the side quests for each character right now, i didnt know that there were ones for everyone minus the droids, the only ones i never did were missions and juhani's, i only ever partly did missions, and i thought juhani's was the dude on korriban but its not so it turns out. im on dantooine right now i just did the murder case again and im gonna go confront juhani, im gonna keep her even though it means getting some light side points :( . im also gonna try out some of the glitches to build up as much experience as possible for all the characters before finishing the game, and get enough credits to buy all the goods at yavin station. i just found out a few days ago that it was available for dlc on xbox live so i did it with my 360 it was free! im still gonna get an old xbox to mod it so i can have more fun with kotor and kotor 2 :) and plus it'll mean no more annoying as **** sound problems. microsoft needs to release an update that fixes all the backwards compatibility problems it says theyre only "minor irregularities" but thats a load of crap lol. i just cant stop thinking about a nex gen kotor. i want to be able to customize my character and have sith tats etc and choose how i look when i transition to darkside etc.
I would much rather have a KOTOR 3 instead of TOR MMO but, if there is one company and one universe/setting that can beat WoW it's definitely BioWare with The Old Republic. I will prolly give it a try anyway if it gets stellar reviews.
Unfortunately my X360 got red light right now but I am still gonna play KOTOR 1 & 2 on my Xbox, that game just can't die...even when I was playing the second one I sometimes mixed it up with the first KOTOR, and when the new KOTOR comes out I am quite honestly gonna jump out of my chair, run outside and I am personally gonna shout "****************************** YEHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Lol.stike22thats lame dude sorry to hear that, hope your covered under warranty, thanks for adding me as a friend, i was trying to do that the other day but it didnt have the option haha. i was playing kotor again last night (as always ;) ) and i decided to be nice to bastila (never did before, i just talked crap and let her live as my apprentice etc) and discovered that she loves revan! she even kissed me (no im not into game character chicks :lol: )! sometimes i forget how deep this game is, i find new dialogue and quests almost every time i replay the game! like you said it wont die, its seriously addicting lol. ive sold both and rebought them at least 3 times cuz i like them better than all my other games. i wish that we'd get a decent star wars game for nex gen consoles, i was really psyched on the force unleashed cuz of the euphoria etc but i was dissapointed i didnt find the whole "different gameplay experience each time you play..." to be true, the powers were sorta cool but you couldnt do my favorite powers like in kotor :force choke, drain life, poison etc. it just had a very lame story in my opinion, i actually like kotors gameplay better i cant explain it, but i wouldnt mind an rpg star wars game with tfu style gameplay, but at the end of the day, story matters the most for me. lets just keep on crossing our fingers for kotor 3 :P .

Yes i agree. I also must point out how sick i am of seeing devs cash in on solid film franchises, every time they do it the game never delivers what we expect, which is not too high of an expectation, the KOTOR series is a brilliant gaming franchise, along with the old final fantasy games and the zelda series, its really the only solid franchise left with a solid story.
I miss the days where developers came up with games that had a solid focus on gameplay as well as story, games like ff4-10, especially 7, kingdom hearts, kotor, etc. They were great because not only they came up with original ideas but the way their stories are constructed always amazed me and got me hooked in, then you look at gears of war, halo, resistance, etc, all top graphics and nothing else, sickens me, and you get all these experienced gamers or immature personalities driving these games on, whatever happened to the consideration of the gamer with a gaming passion demographic.
Just hopefully FF13 saves us, this 'the old republic', i was like WOW KOTOR3! NO LONGER SHAL I STARVE FOR A GOOD GAME! but no, another wow, which is like a stab into the heart of any star wars fan/'true gamer'.

I edited that post you quoted, take another look. MGS4 is a finale, so well goodbye to good shooters lol, more thousands of waist high walls in gears of war to camp behind, zelda wont die, its developers really know what they are doing and seem to have ongoing ideas, final fantasy is holding onto 13, if that fails, i think they will resort to kingdom hearts 3 or a ff7 remake, which would be exactly what this gaming industry needs, plus ff7 sends a very positive message that the greenies would all agree with. Right now the chances of seeing Kotor 3 are slim, and if its ever made it won't be done by Bioware because they'll be focusing their time on The Old Republic and the Mass Effect trilogy which leaves Obsidian as a possible developer for the game. Now I know there are a lot of people who think Obsidian did not do a good job with Kotor 2 but keep in mind they were rushed by LucasArts to make the holiday deadline which caused the game to have glitches and have an unfinished story. If LucasArts allowed Obsidian ample time to complete the game, I think you'd see a very good Kotor game.Ghost_Warriordefinitely man, i actually first played kotor in 2006 and got kotor 2 straight after and loved it, i thought the story wasnt as good and the character side quests were lame and i missed tatooine and training as a sith lol, but i loved it and replayed it plenty of times and i will be getting it again. the only thing i really hated was peragus it sucked all there was was droids anf=d a lame miners outfit lol. but yeah i never new this until i got kotor 2 for pc (returned it 2 days later cuz it was a pain in the *** lol) and went on filefront and discovered that tons of content was cut due to lucasfarts rushing obsidian! i was shocked and lost respect for lucasarts right then. kotor 2 was cool for me because of the character influence, converting companions into force users, and added force powers. i didnt find the exile story interesting at all i mean compared to first playing kotor and discovering that your this amazing dark lord who is the most powerful force user to ever live! yeah it was pretty drastic. but yeah i would totally be down for obsidian making kotor 3 i was under the impression that they were making it years ago but i guess not :( . thanks for keeping this thread alive guys.

Fairly often on the forums, we get someone like you talking about how the business aspects of gaming are ruining it. I always ask these people this: When exactly was gaming not a business, and were you alive during this time? Gamers love to be nostalgic about eras that existed before they were born (or never existed).

I think what you're trying to say is something like, "Whatever happened to the consideration of the demographic that has a gaming passion?" This still doesn't make sense, as "gaming passion" is not an intrinsic attribute that can be studied in any meaningful fashion.

I think what you're trying to say is something like, "Whatever happened to the consideration of the demographic that has a gaming passion?" This still doesn't make sense, as "gaming passion" is not an intrinsic attribute that can be studied in any meaningful fashion.
What is a gaming passion demographic, and how does a gamer have one? I wanna know, damnit.

I do deny that the game industry is "milking" anyone for money. It's impossible to milk someone for money with a luxury good. No one needs games. It's not like game publishers are driving up the price of food or water or anything else. Now, that said, you may feel that the industry is releasing a great number of low quality titles that we, the unwashed masses without your oh-so-sophisticated gaming tastes, will buy. Things have always been like that. For every great game released in any era, there have been a host of good, but historically forgettable games, and an even larger number of budget titles. So, I'll repeat my question:
So, exactly when was this magical time, when gaming companies didn't produce games in order to make money?

You have a feeling they did this for money...as opposed to what? If they were doing it for charity, then they would just give the game away. And you do have a form of evidence: BioWare has stated that they wanted to do this type of game for a long time. In absence of any other evidence, of which you say there is none, you have no reason not to take them at their word.

Raiden has a bad habit of wandering around the forums, stating his personal opinions like they were absolute facts. When questioned as to how he came to those opinions, he generates a laundry list of bizarre and inconsistent rationale, which is he is completely hopeless to explain. No, you don't have to explain a damn thing to me, but if you do, try to make some sense out of it.
This is half in response to a point you raised, and half an instructional recording for Raiden:

Your language is sufficiently ambiguous that it's possible you weren't saying The Old Republic will be a bad game. I concede the point.

(If you're wondering what this was about, in a prior thread, Raiden whined that I called him a "fanboy," when I did no such thing. When I challenged him to produce a quote of me saying that, instead of just admitting he was wrong, he BSed and said he couldn't be bothered to find it.)
