My So Called Life is coming to DVD

So yeah I've just totally been a lurker on this site for a long while now - of course I predicted that would happen once Lost returned, and then of course Sims 2:Seasons, etc. - and now this weekend I'm moving to Kansas - but let's forget all that:

I have the most outstanding news to share with my fellow TV.com'ers and it is that one of the most remarkable pieces of my television history is finally going to appear in form readily available to the masses: My So Called Life is coming to DVD.

http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=7247

I am not of the lucky few who already owns the infamous first set of DVD's from the show, so as you can imagine, this news is greatly fabulous to me, and I will be extremely giddy with delight for at least an hour.

Yay!

Yay for fishies!

Well it's a good thing Lost was ultra-boring last night, so I could totally wrap my brain around my new game, Sims 2: Seasons.

Although my attention was caught when Melinda Doolittle sang "My Funny Valentine" on American Idol. Isn't she just amazing???  Sadly, though, my attention was not held when Hubby turned to the Red Sox spring training game though. Oh well.

Eamon went fishing with his dad, Augusten, and he caught his first fish. Yay for fishies!

Sims Seasons

So as I sit and wait, wallowing in murky disappointment that the UPS man will not arrive today with my pre-ordered copy of Sims 2: Seasons, I strive for ways to entertain myself, i.e. visiting TV.com, which I haven't stopped by since last week.

How awesome was that episode of Heroes last night??? That show is really getting amazing. And I liked the Black Donnelly's afterwards too. I hope it sticks around, or else both it and Studio 60 will be only a memory.

Oh where oh where can UPS be??? I want this game so give it to me!!!!!!

I love Heroes

I am really getting into that show so much now. The characters are being really well-developed. For example, I thought Peter was a good guy, sweet and innocent all this time, but now they got me thinking that I'm not so sure. And Sylar continues to get creepier and creepier each week. My hubby and I agree that he is creepier than Benry even!

So they took away Studio 60 following it, and I hope The Black Donnellys will keep our attention for a long time. I mean, I'm really interested in the show so far, but I hope the characters don't get so cliche that you can tell exactly how things will play out before the series has a chance to get underway.

So it seems like my TV life is kind of calming down. There's Heroes on Mondays, Lost on Wednesdays, The Office on Thursdays. I think those are the only ones that I would die if I missed them. I really loved Studio 60 and Friday Night Lights, but life is just too crazy to drop everything for them, and like I said, Studio 60 is leaving anyway. American Idol hasn't really sparked my interest this season; maybe when it gets to the Top 12. I don't even know if Apprentice is still on. And Without A Trace is just too hard to sit down for on a Sunday night, especially now with no football preceding it, I forget that it's on.  Oh well.

Goodbye JetBlue

I don't know if that airline is ever going to recover from the mess they made last week. As I told my husband, there is no way in Hades I would have been made to sit on a plane for 10 hours just 200 feet from my gate. I don't care about the snow and ice outside. Have someone draft some sort of waiver on a little cocktail napkin, I'll sign my name in blood if I have to, that I won't sue the airline if I fall down outside, but I would have to get off of that airplane. I told Hubby I'd start having a fit and get arrested just to get off the plane. I can't stand it when we've had to sit on the tarmac for 15 minutes, nevermind anything close to 10 hours.

So they think that cancelling a lot of these holiday weekend flights is going to reset their system? Meanwhile, you know what all those people who sat on that plane for 10 hours are doing today? That's right, they are all drafting up a little thing I like to call a lawsuit. Lawyers don't care if it's a holiday, right?

So goodbye JetBlue - you just put your airline out of business by holding people hostage on an airplane, however unintentional it might have been.

Is it really just a day away???

Is the return of Lost really tomorrow?  I remember thinking, what was it, back in November (?) that I would never survive until February. Let's have a re-cap of what I've done in the intervening months:

* Played a lot of Sims 2: Pets

* Gone to the movies a lot, most recently Epic Movie - why do I continue to torture myself with these kinds of films?

* Started reading again - finished one book, "The History of Love" by Nicole Krauss: An utterly amazing book; and am now on "Love is a Mix Tape" by Rob Sheffield, which is totally fantastic so far

* Visited Cape Cod for a long weekend at a hotel right on the beach

* Made plans to move to Cape Cod, but now find myself moving to Hutchinson, KS - quite a difference, I kid you not

* Gave up our apartment, packed our stuff in storage, and moved in with the in-laws until May - when we move to Kansas

* It snowed

* Got the new Shins album

Well that's all I can think of off the top of my head - but wow, not having Lost in your life can make you do crazy things, eh?? Thankfully tomorrow my life returns to almost-normal, complete with raging board-surfing Thursday mornings to read about all the eggs I missed in the epi, and hiding out from spoiler mania, and the 2-hour-long weekend phone calls with my sister-in-law to discuss the show, where I continue to ask myself if we're even actually watching the same show cuz I never see all the stuff that she does.  :D  Alas - just over 35 hours from now and it returneth!

The Invasion of Aqua Teen

Perhaps you have heard about the bomb scares we were having in Boston yesterday that turned out to be a marketing campaign for the new Aqua Teen movie. Evidently Turner Broadcasting accepted blame last night around 5pm, even though Boston Police had been dealing with diffusing these things all over town since 8am yesterday. I find that highly ironic, since CNN, which is owned by Turner Broadcasting, had been reporting the news about it all day as well.

Regardless, here we are now, safe and sound once more, and it's a question of whether is this something to laugh at, or to be really peeved over. Now, I'm not a fan of the show necessarily, but how is it any different than if there were electronic signs of Stewie from Family Guy, of which I am a fan, posted all over the city, promoting the show?

I think where the real blame lies here is with the two men who were arrested last night as having been hired by the marketing company to place these electronic boards all over town. I think they were the ones who acted the most outrageous by placing them under bridges so that cherry-pickers were needed to remove them. I don't even know how they got them up there in the first place. But as has been commented before, electronically-wired gadgets having been duct-taped up underneath a bridge which holds up Interstate 93 in the post 9/11 world we live in is going to create havoc. And an even bigger question - how would anyone have seen it there anyway, if these two geniuses were hired for their "abilities" to place these things in "high profile" areas around the city to promote the movie? I think that is where Turner Broadcasting went wrong. Just stick with billboards and commercials like everyone else. Don't worry: The American public will get inundated with your advertising well enough.

Pardon the ignorance...

But what's a regal beagle anyway?

Regardless - it marks a momentous occasion : I've reached Level 13. 8)  Has the new point system been implemented? I'm just wondering how I've moved up so quickly in the last couple weeks, after being stuck at Level 11 for nearly half a century.
