Internet connection's been REALLY slow. It takes about 48 years for a page to load. Pfft. I wonder how long this will last.
Classes resumed last Wednesday, and things have been slow there too. Most of the people are still in Christmas-vacation mode and haven't been showing up to class. I wasn't surprised to find available slots in the usually filled-to-the-brim parking lots.
Kala gigs are going great. We performed twice this week (Tuesday and Wednesday) because the owners asked us to, and we're lucky that Faye was able to work out her schedule for the night. Wednesday night was really fun, we had Faye sing "Through the Fire" with our 16-year-old alternate Nar, and in turn he sang The Corrs' "Runaway" with us. A couple of requests were thrown our way and we were able to cater to some of them...I was even forced to sing a stanza of Lisa Loeb's "Stay" because Faye couldn't quite hit the pitch. Hehehehe.
I guess the downside of the whole "student by day, musician by night" stint is that I have never felt so effing tired in my whole life. I get home around 3 in the morning, sleep at 4, and then wake up at 7 or 8, depending on what time classes start. And I HAVE to go to school because my parents would put chains on my guitar to keep me from playing if I miss even one morning class. Woosh.
But hey, it's all for the music, right?

I've been hella tired lately. I think I'm coming down with something. Whatever it is, I just hope it comes after next week (exam week). I'd least I'd have the whole Christmas break to recover.
So my shows will be going on the holiday hiatus. I guess I'm going to have to survive by watching reruns.
I should go to sleep. It's almost 12 midnight here, and if I want to work on my three projects tomorrow, I should rest up.

Storm? What Storm?
by *keipots on Comments
When I woke up Thursday morning to alarmingly dark skies, I expected the worse.
Good thing I didn't hold my breath.
It's apparent that super-typhoon Milenyo's left us all paranoid. Even before the storm Reming was supposed to hit Metro Manila, people have been scurrying off to their respective homes to board up their windows and chop down their trees (okay, maybe just the branches). The government even suspended classes in anticipation. Pfft. Thursday was a complete waste.
Then again, I shouldn't really complain. I'm thankful we were spared from the carnage, destruction, death and the blackouts.
And I feel extremely sorry for those greatly affected by super-super-typhoon Reming and condolences to those who lost their loved ones. I saw the storm's wake on the news yesterday, and it almost literally wiped towns and provinces off the Philippine map. O_o
Speaking of natural calamaties, I'm thinking of watching Al Gore and David Guggenheim's An Inconvenient Truth. It looks interesting enough.
In other "news", I was one of the more unfortunate ones who stumbled upon Britney Spears' controversial picture to date. HEL-LO DOWN THERE. Woosh. My eyes are burning.

Unusually Long Weekend

No classes today (Thursday) and tomorrow. Whoopeedoo.
Just got home from a long overdue quality time with the bandmates at Amici di Don Bosco. Boy, did I miss those guys. Too bad Chev's in Japan and Helen's MIA. Anyway, we (Bri, Miwa, Faye, Sherwin and I) stuffed ourselves with scrumptious pasta and pizza that only Amici could offer, and sat there with bellies filled to the brim and talked until one of the waiters asked us to leave (they were about to close). We walked to the shuttle station at Landmark, where Sherwin went on his way, while the rest of us topped the night off at Starbucks BF.
I heart Pasko (Christmas, in English) Frap (a.k.a. Peppermint Mocha Frapuccino).
Word has it that the storm about to hit the RP is stronger than Milenyo. O_o Where have I heard that before? I hope it's not true, though. I'd hate to see more destruction, and I don't think I can stand another 3-day black out.

Rant

School rant:
I've said it before and I'll say it again. I abso-f*cking-lutely HATE the first week of school. Nobody, not even the teachers, shows up. Geez. What a complete waste of time and money. If I wasn't getting these dangerous looks from my dad, I would've stayed home the entire week. Knowing that school, I doubt I'll miss anything.
Band rant:
Okay, this isn't exactly ranting. I can never rant about my bandmates. It's just that I'm starting to miss them. Ever since our drummer went to Japan for a month (he was sent there by his boss), we haven't been able to meet regularly. But I guess it's okay; I'd like to think we need this break from recording for tha past five months or so.
TV rant:
CSI:NY is starting to bore me, I don't know why. Ever since that episode with Edward Furlong, I haven't seen a single ep that put me at the edge of my seat. I haven't seen last Wednesday's ep, so here's to hoping it's a lot better than the previous ones.
SVU's upcoming episode is driving me crazy, especially when I saw that scene where Elliot Stabler and Dani Beck make out. Oh my effing God. And HE STARTED IT!! If it had been Dani who initiated the whole thing, I wouldn't be this pissed. What the hell was he thinking?!
Woosh. I think this show is affecting me a little too much. When I saw the kissing clip, I was strangling my monitor (hoping that Elliot and Dani could feel my hands tighten around their necks) when my dad came in. He looked at me funny, and then told me that if my monitor died, he wasn't going to buy me a new one. LOL
I think I should stop ranting, it's starting to make my head hurt.

Back To School

Geez, I feel like the sembreak wasn't long enough. I'm still on vacation mode.
I stare at my monitor and I realize that I owe TV a lot for keeping me sane. The shows I watch help me maintain enough sanity required for my so-called life, and it balances the good vibes and the bad. With all the craziness going on around me, I really really need the balance.
I've just found out something that managed to make my mood drop a few thousand feet below the ground, and the only way for me to cope is to detach myself from everything. And by detaching, I mean locking myself in my room and almost everything and everyone. But being a Gemini that I am, I bore easily, which is why I'm grateful for TV. It keeps me company in my own little black hole of sadness, and it sometimes makes me happy even for just a little bit.
And now I'm rambling. My apologies.
On a lighter note, I'm excited with my faves' upcoming episodes, particularly Bones and SVU. I don't know what's happened to CSI:NY, it's starting to bore me. I certainly hope the next episode would be a good one.
What else? Oh, my class schedule is a lot better than last semester. No more Saturday classes, hurrah for me.
I guess that's it. I wanted to vent out my frustrations more, but I'm afraid this entry might fall into the hands of the wrong people. Sure, I could use nicknames or not mention any specifics, but they're a smart bunch of people. I better stop right now, for my own health.

So it looks like I'm getting really addicted to SVU. Wooosh. The ADA's rock my socks!
I've been wondering about a few things. First, why haven't they released the 4th and 6th season on DVD? What is so special with the 5th that it came out first?
Second, why are the ADA's usually gorgeous? Stephanie March was great as the ruthless Ice Queen Alex Cabot, looking all sophisticated and calm and intelligent. Diane Neal portrays Casey Novak's no-nonsense, badass spunk effectively, plus she's equally as intelligent and ruthless as her predecessor. These two are just a few of the main reasons I watch this show. And don't get me started on their sarcasm. ^_^
Lastly, what's the reason behind Alex Cabot leaving the witness protection program to resume her role as a prosecutor? Heck, she even got promoted to Bureau Chief. I had hope "Conviction" would shed some light on the matter but unfortunately it got cancelled after only 13 episodes. Now we'll never know her story, unless Dick Wolf decides otherwise.
I just saw an SVU spoof done by Sesame Street. It's called the "Special Letters Unit". The Munch puppet looked exactly like him, it was hilarious! And that line "Can you do that 'chung chung' thing again?" really cracked me up! I didn't think Sesame Street could make me laugh like that, haha.
Gah, I am running out of things to say here. I just lurve lurve lurve this show. What can I say, I'm a crime-show junkie.

Finally, the semester is over, and school's out! I don't have to worry about anything for the next three weeks! Yey! More time for my shows!
Just a little bit of this and that:
1. The Danny-Lindsay relationship. The ship is starting to sail, but Lindsay won't let go of the anchor. I am extremely curious as to what is holding her back. That, plus her "dark secret" is so intruiging, I can barely wait. Also, I didn't quite like the way Danny acted, all desperate to go out with her. But what the hey, if he's really into her...
2. Booth and Cam in bed. That is soooooo not right. But I do like how it posed as a problem for all those B/B shippers out there. It's nice to have a wrench thrown in the works sometimes. It keeps things exciting and makes the wait worth it.
3. I like how the writers of CSI keep Grissom and Sara's thing in the background. Unlike the NY spin-off, where they had their love teams show us their feelings, you know something is going on between Gil and Sara without them actually having to kiss or confess their undying liking to each other. With just a glance or a simple gesture, they are able to get across to the viewers the depth of their relationship. And I like that.
4. With regards to the previous item in this list, I'm not saying I hate what the writers of NY did with their characters. It's actually nice of them to give us more of a glimpse into the character's personal lives. I think this show is becoming more character-centered, I just hope they don't sacrifice the cases. Like I said, this isn't a soap opera.
5. On to non-forensic dramas, I just saw the first two episodes of One Tree Hill. All I can say is that Brooke is stupid to break up with Lucas, and Deb has broken the record for the fastest protagonist to antagonist transition (and I'm starting to dislike her).
I guess that's it.

This week is finally over. THANK YOU LORD!!
I've been so busy lately, I missed the season premiere of most of my favorite shows. It's a good thing my friend records them so I still get to watch! Yey!
So far, I've been living on watching Bones and CSI re-runs. I can never get enough of these shows. My shipper self has been aching to get out, but I can't yet. I have to wait until the semester ends so I'd be able to focus on them, hahahaha.
Anyway, I should get back to work. Darn Graphic Design midterms.
