List of consoles I've owned
Segas Master system
Genesis
SNES
PS1
PS2
N64
Gamecube
Wii
Xbox
Xbox 360
DSOut of all those the only one to break down is the 360, it's now out of warranty and they want me to pay £85 to get it fixed. If Halo 3 doesn't impress me at E3, I'm selling the 360 games (10) and hard drive and throwing the console in the bin and getting a PS3. I can't deal with these three red lights anymore, it's killed all enjoyment for me with Xbox 360. You don't know when the problem will strike, it's a lottery when you turn on your 360 and that's not worth the hassle.
Worst console ever made?, it has to be. Name one other console that gets to hot in normal conditions and breaks the solder around the GPU, killing your console. MS still haven't fixed the damn problem, Elite is the same, and even repaired console break at a alarming rate. How can you enjoy 360 when you know your console is a ticking time bomb?. Halo 3 may be good, but if you have to play it on the worst hardware ever I don't see how you can enjoy it.

I guess God hates you.
Because my works like a dream. Its the best.
Hopefully they will have to recall it, no company should be allowed to sell a product as unreliable as that.-Xeno-
I just don't see it , the problems I mean . My 360works flawlessy and I never have any problems with any of my games.
Its just sad the bad rap MS is getting for such a wonderful and delightful console.
[QUOTE="-Ninja_Dog-"][QUOTE="Vandalvideo"]Thats because the probability of a 360 working is much higher than it is breaking. People don't realize that you have a better chance of having a working 360 than a broken one. I think 30% is heavily bloated.SUD123456
Of course its bloated. Its just sad that MS is the target of this unjust critism.
The criticism will be just or unjust depending on how MS responds and deals with the issue. I am happy with my call centre/return experience. Quick, professional, relatively painless...best I can hope for on a failure. That's good.
Can they diagnose and solve the problem long term? Lets hope so.
Look, I like MS. I respect them as a company. I like their gaming consoles. Obviosuly they don't want this problem...only a fanboy would believe they deliberately messed it up. Clearly they would prefer no problems. The overall design is excellent...it really is a great machine and well thought out. Something unanticipated happened in the design. QC can't pick up all potential flaws...that's why all sorts of products need tweaking over the lifecycle.
I am not blaming MS. Surely they didn't want this to happen. The console is great. Something is askew, likely around heat build-up/dissipation. Its not the end of the world and it doesn't mean that the console overall design is wrong...just this aspect. Fix the proble...as quickly and painlessly as possible. And treat the people with failed units properly and with respect. Then we can put this all behind and concentrate on the great gaming experience.
Lets take your premise, kinda.
Lets say some of the manufacturing was not up to spec aspects. They will not all be discovered right away.
They would be spread out at different times.
Lets say some consoles break after, 3 months ,some after 6 months , some after a 1 year , some after 1 year and half and so on. This well lend itself to some precieved systematic design flaw when in reality its just the original mismanufacturing process that has shown itself over a period of time.
Look you are just being a fanboy. I love my 360. I highly recommend it and its gaming library. I have never made a bash post and I am not painting a black cloud.
I am just an average guy who likes gaming, who owned an orginal Xbox and who now owns a 360. It is the best system and best deal IMO. But there is a design flaw and you need to get lots of warranty...at least until the new 65nm models come out and fix the problem (hopefully).
There is no point in burying our heads in the sand. The failure rate is way too high. It certainly isn't as high as theother SW fanboys want you to believe but it is unacceptably high and MS needs to move heaven and earth to fix the problem and look after us unfortunate ones.
The reason I bother posting on this aspect ...design vs manufacturing flaw...is that until MS solves the design aspects this cannot and will not go away. That is because the design flaw leads to an unexpectedly high failure rate. It isn't a 100% failure rate...but it sure isn't 5% either. Until the design aspects are overcome there will be more and more OMG my 360 died posts...it is inevitable.
Hopefully, additional cooling will work as a bridge until 65nm units hit retail shelves, and hopefully those will solve the problem. In the meantime, it is MHO that being vocal, but respectful and realistic, like I think my posts are highlight the real issue. Whereas denial and ostrich behaviour just encourages MS to perpetuate a problem...meaning a worse reputation and a worse outcome for what you and I both believe to be a great console with a great line-up. That would be a shame.

Again, my main point is these failures are blown way, way, way out of proportion.
You want to believe its some systematic design flaw , then by all means believe that. I don't care.
What I'm saying is I have had my 360since launch, as well as 20 people on my friends list and none of us had any problems.
If we look at itlike you want us to look at it, then everything ever made has some sort of design flaw. I'm just not ready to go there.
[QUOTE="-Ninja_Dog-"][QUOTE="smokeydabear076"][QUOTE="-Ninja_Dog-"][QUOTE="smokeydabear076"]Uh, my 360 just broke for some random reason I did not do anything out of the ordinary to cause it's hardware failure or what ever it was. Why don't you throw your 360 off a bridge or something? It will probably break after that.smokeydabear076
You are way late buddy. Way late.
Late to what? Why would I want to through it off a bridge ?
Well did you not ask what you need to do to make your 360 incapable of function. Throwing your 360 off a bridge is a completely legitimate method of making your Xbox 360 break.True.
But, I was kidding.
