Thats because the probability of a 360 working is much higher than it is breaking. People don't realize that you have a better chance of having a working 360 than a broken one. I think 30% is heavily bloated.Vandalvideo

Of course its bloated. Its just sad that MS is the target of this unjust critism.

[QUOTE="smokeydabear076"]Uh, my 360 just broke for some random reason I did not do anything out of the ordinary to cause it's hardware failure or what ever it was. Why don't you throw your 360 off a bridge or something? It will probably break after that.smokeydabear076

You are way late buddy. Way late.

Late to what?

Why would I want to through it off a bridge ?

A design flaw would be universal to all console. Not something that would affect about 10 % of consoles made.SUD123456

This is where you are wrong. In manufacturing, a design flaw is not something that has to affect 100% of the product. It could, but it doesn't have too. A design flaw is flaw which leads tounacceptable/abnormal and UNANTICIPATED failure rate as a result of unexpected outcomes inherent to trhe design...not because of manufacturing defects.

Autos are a perfect example. Every year there are recalls for very specific design flaws like: the power steering connecting rod could fail under a hard left turn while going over a bump. That doesn't mean that it will always fail. It means it was an unexpected failure rate due to an unexpected/unanticipated outcome from the design.

Its electronic , sometimes things break. I really don't buy into this systematic design flaw stuff. I think its just the ones that were unlucky enough to get bricked 360 and theyare the most vocal.

I can honestly recommend the 360 to any ne and I'm sure 90% of the people won't have a problem and will have an awesome experience.

Its just sad the 10 % have to paint a black cloud over the best console ever.

I just edited my previous post to be clearer, so you may have missed my point.

But it clearly isn't a manufacturing problem a la not made to correct specs. That would be easy to identify. You would know exactly which units, in which batches by serial numbers, and it would have been corrected. Likely even a limited recall to those units specifically which would be a lot less painful, and perfectly understandable by consumers. In other words, if it was MS would have I'd the offender and put this behind them long ago. The most damning aspect is that it has affected many people over many manufacturing dates, spanning a long period. It most definately is NOT a simple mis-manfacture by a sub-contractor not following a spec.

SUD123456

Then they should all break.

Is that they case ?

It takes time to pin point the problem. And then too flush those systems out of circulation.

I think thats why MS closed one of their plants in China.

Design is inherit in all consoles. Again if it was design they would all break.

And that is simply not the case.

Why don't they all break ? Luck ?

Why does mine work ? Bad luck ?

That word scares all console fanboys... they can never get enough of it and their games are always limited by it.foxhound_fox

Nah. Riddick last gen was a prime example of this.

Riddick looked great on Xbox with 64mb of ram.

For a slight upgrade on the PC it took 512mb.

RAM must be different from PC and consoles.

So I need to get a 360 with shoddy hardware ?

You mean I got to buy another 360 and hope it has shoddy hardware this time ?

Damnit !

There is a flaw in the design of the 360. It does not cause every system to break. MS says the number is 5% (which is still high comparatively), but I would guess its closer to 10%. That said, that means you have at least a 9 out of 10 chance of not having an issue with the system. You are in the majority, like I said. I don't know why you keep harping on this.

If you want a 100% chance of a broken system, wrap it in rugs and play it for 24 hours while storing the system upside down and repeatedly hitting it with a bat.

Ok. You took long enough. Thanks.

---------------------

Seriously though, this when I get a little annoyed. If it was a design flaw , then all 360 would die.

Which is not the case.

I say the problem should be placed on the manufactures of the 360 and the some parts manufactures for the 360.

These outside factors really hurt the 360 and MS . But I honestly think the MS has tried to rectify the problem and by extending the warranty to 1 year.

MS was the victim here and thats just sad.

No, gamers with defective systems are the victims. I clearly said that you were in the majority on the first post I made!

And it is a flaw. They used terrible thermal paste that cannot operate under all the circumstances that the system would be subjected to under normal use. If it was not an issue, and it was a minor thing, the defect rate would be around 2-3%, but even MS admits theirs is 5% (and I would guess higher)

I am a huge MS fan, as are the people who runTeamXbox.com, llama.com, and Xbox-scene.com, and yet we can all tell that there is something lacking in the way that the system was made.

Sony made an error when they used plastics in the track holding the optical laser in their first run PS2s, and MS dropped the ball on either shoddy thermal paste, or poor system ventilation (its a toss up which makes the most difference).

Nope.

Again the ones that died weren't manufactured to the correct specs.

What you think MS didn't do extensive testing ? Of course they did.

A design flaw would be universal to all console. Not something that would affect about 10 % of consoles made.

Doesn't add up if its a design flaw.

I don't think you're a fakeboy at all.

But you had 3 360 break. You need to have some type of secret , I'm mean why do you have to have 3 that broke and I never had one break on me.

WTH !

SpruceCaboose

To sum it up, the unit I got on launch stayed on for 5 minutes and would freeze. No red ring, no nothing. Just freeze. The next unit I was sent by MS was still in the box, and it lasted for almost a year before the Red Ring. That went in, and I was sent a refurbished model, which only lasted about 6 months and Red Ringed while I was trying to play the Halo 3 beta. No secret. Just shoddy hardware, and a poor decision by MS to not repair units, but to instead send out other units.

So I need to get a 360 with shoddy hardware ?

You mean I got to buy another 360 and hope it has shoddy hardware this time ?
