There's a noticeable difference on illumination and anti-aliasing (jaggies) but that's about it, i'd say wait until end of 2015 to upgrade to next gen. there's really not a single true next gen game on any console, unless u count tech demos like infamousSS, Killzone, Ryse, etc, which look godly but are not really good games.

As well as higher res, better shadows, more af and better textures.

BF 4 is a completely different game on next gen. Diablo 3 is 1080p 60fps on PS 4.

Why spend same amount of money to play inferior versions of multiplats?

Even Madden looks a lot better on next gen

If you want to continue enjoying the console experience you will be forced to upgrade to a new console at some point.

The majority of 360/ps3 support will probably drop before the consoles drop below $400.

It really makes no sense to continue playing on the last gen consoles when you can get the better console versions of games for same price.

If you hold out really long then you might save $50 on the console purchase.

Would you rather wait another 2 years for a possible $50 price drop or start playing much better versions of multiplats now?

We want new games, not games we already played.

The amount of work it took to port doesn't hinder the development of new games. Plus all the non PS 3 owning PS 4 owners get to play the game now.

I don't know. If you can just port old games and get better profit, why would anyone make new games? Not taking a lot of resources just mean they are gonna milk it all the way, and that's happening right now cuz gamers are not really good consumers.

PS 4 launched with almost twice as many new, non remastered games as PS 3.

PS 4 now has about 100 games. Did any past consoles every have that many games 10 months after launch?

lol his room mate

Funny your chart said almost all console users are pc gamer

great counting shipped sales huh on a game on all platforms lol

Would you like to compare GTA V sales to Starcraft 2 instead? We can also use gen 6 GTA sales to prove that the game would have sold almost as well had GTA V been on just 1 console.

Holy cow, so PC alone exponentially beats out 6 systems in gamers count?

Christ! Truly first place at SW. I'll be certain to use this graph in future PC first place facts threads/posts. Thank you Cranler. You are a man of goodness.

Btw can you give me a link to that graph? The actual site it came from: Thanks!

blablabla cranler balblabla

You got a link for that chart? Like the article it came from.

You constantly complained about my roommate to mods and you want my help?

Then again you can't be serious, anyone with an inkling of internet usage could find the site.

PC gamers far outnumber console yet consolites dictate the actions of the publishers. It makes pc gamers look bad though when pc games sell so poorly. 160k sales is all it takes to reach the top of the Steam sales charts

lol is that you cranler way to make your self so obvious with the whole if only one consolities will all decide to use that console.

And please that 12 million number for ACIII is counting shipped to retail

I'm his roommate and I happen to have the same outlook.

Do you think people who enjoy the console experience would switch to pc or quit gaming if there were only 1 console?

In Dec of 2012 Ubi reported 7 million sales, the game was selling so well retailers ordered 5 million more copies by Feb of 2013.

@1fragleft: divinity wasnt a game many people cared about. Seriously that was big? meh i didnt even know it was released.

No one is arguing that halo, god of war and uncharted are not sucessfull series, but the rest? Infamous? fable? Resistance? You get the point.

For the insanely high userbases on consoles exlusives dont seem to sell, there are few who do. Like say halo or uncharted but most of them sell less than a multiplatform game on the console.

I just dont see the point anymore, as yoshida said only 4/10 sony exlusives are profitable, so why they keep making them?

"Assassins Creed 3 sold 12 million copies in the first 2 months. Starcraft 2 was one of the most anticipated pc games of all time and sold 4.5 million after 5 months"

You pick 3 systems versus one?

Well Divinity certainly seemed like a big deal on this forum. It was big enough to make it to the top of the steam sales chart.

Infamous Second Son sold 1 million in 9 days.

Where are your Fable numbers? I was under the impression they sold about 3 million copies each.

People who want the console experience will buy whatever console they deem best and buy games for it. At this time there are 5 active consoles to choose from. This means that there would need to be 5x as many console gamers as there are pc gamers for those console platforms to have a chance at beating the pc.

If there were only 1 console would those consolites quit gaming, go to pc or simply buy that one console?

6th gen GTA is a great example to be used for getting an idea of what would happen if there were one console since the PS 2 dominated. Almost all GTA sales were on PS 2 because that's the console most people owned. Last gen the xbox brand was much more competitiove so we saw GTA sales split more evenly.

Assassins Creed is considered a console centric game while Starcraft 2 is a pc game through and through.

PC gamers greatly outnumber console gamers.

do realize that it would require about 5x more console gamers than pc for each individual console to have a chance at beating the pc right?

PC first place confirmed.

No single console can beat it alone. Best system.

People who want to play on computer have one platform to choose from, people who want to play on console have 5 active platforms to choose from.

@1fragleft: Really? picking ubifail as an exampe of games selling better on consoles? REALLY? is it not clear yet everyone hates ubi on pc?

As for the last of us? It sold 7 million with the ps4 remaster and let me say this clearly THATS ONE GAME IN 10 YEARS. Not to mention extremely high rated. As yoshida said "only 4/10 sony exlusives sell" So lets not go there, becuase most console exlusives are irrelevant, yet they keep making them.

So yeah, for 180 milion ps3/x360 the sales are quite bad.

Only valve multiplats sell better on pc.

I said TLOU sold 7 million, I said nothing of TLOU Remaster.

Uncharted franchise was at 17 million sales as of March 2012. So that's almost 6 million sales per installment.

God of War is at 21 million sales.

Halo has 50 million sales while one of the pc's biggest franchises Civ is at 21 million.

It would be nice to see sales breakdowns on multiplats like Tombraider, Bioshock, Arkham etc. i would imagine the console version sales are much higher. Especially when you consider that one of the pc's biggest exclusives of the year Divinity sold only 160k copies yet that was enough to put it at the top of the steam sales charts. Console games that sell with those kinds of numbers would be at the bottom of the npd charts.

On the bright side it's probably the oversaturation of pc games that kills individual pc game sales.

His source of Ubi sales are the ones from retail sales only. While its already known 92% of the sales on the PC gaming market is digital.

You think Ubi doesn't know the digital sales numbers of it's own games?

Assassins Creed 3 sold 12 million copies in the first 2 months. Starcraft 2 was one of the most anticipated pc games of all time and sold 4.5 million after 5 months

In light of this it's safe to say that the bulk of those Assassins Creed sales are from consoles.
