@Sevenizz You're missing the point. Always online for GAMING is a method of control, not advancement in technology. Why should the stability of an ISP influence whether you can even play a single player game? Simple, it shouldn't. Why on earth would that be a good thing? My Xbox is connected all the time, but it's my choice and when my ISP/router go down i can still turn my xbox on. It should remain a choice of whether you want to be online or not. Do i prefer being connected? Yes, ofcourse but I can still play my games if I can't
It's OK though because when you have an ISP or router problem you may be annoyed one day. Imagine playing a single player game and rather "xbox live has disconnected", your game turns off with the message "not connected to XBL and cannot verify disc" - It's a business model of suicide.
As for the UK, a few companies have also stated the internet in the UK is not ready for a gaming machine to be always online.
You're also using examples that do not reflect gaming - online streaming films and TV is different. If you'rea hardcore gamer yourself, then you should realise the implications that will have on your gaming.
