Rare never should've left Nintendo in the first place - not because Microsoft is this big bad evil boogeyman - but because Rare was only ever at their prime making games under existing IP's
not to mention their top talent leaving at the start of the decade, leading to a relative lack in motivation coming from Rare after that (anybody remember the huge flop that was their first game for the xbox? a gamecube port of a lacking game?)
i mean Kameo was a nice effort, but Perfect Dark Zero was just horribly made
Nuts & Bolts was interesting, but i think everybody just wanted a regular platformer adventure title
that's a huge stretch, it's easily one of the best experiences i've had playing a downloadable title this gen, but to beat games like Mass Effect 2, RDR, SMG2, etc.? not even in the same ballpark
i know Reach is supposed to be a sort of "evolution" of the franchise but imo it's more like an evolution of Bungie's style than of the franchise itself
after Reach the series needs some fresh blood, they should be ambitious and make Halo 4 with Master Chief on some alien world hinted at the end of Halo 3, do it on a new piece of hardware, and really throw out the book and do something unique for the series, go for something as big a leap as the first Halo was
i think the problem for Halo is not going ambitious would do more harm than good after Reach, it doesn't matter if you end up producing a AAAE-worthy game if there's absolutely no ambition in the project
