@gord0nd: No, I know she didn't work at the publishing company BEFORE she signed on. It was after. I was just using that as an example of what lengths an actor will go through to prepare for a part.
Truthfully, I may have misinterpreted the information here. Combining his ignorance of WoW with his lack of enthusiasm for acting, I'm assuming he didn't work that hard to understand the background from which this movie was written. He didn't actually say that he didn't prepare (or at least Eddie didn't report that he prepared) for it. That was my assumption and, as always, my assumption could be wrong. I just expected that an actor would say something to the effect of "I knew nothing about WoW before the role, but I did some research into the lore to fully understand the character." instead of "I knew nothing about WoW and I just wanted a job so I could retire on a ranch".
@Sozialminister: I take it you don't really understand how business works. It's a huge risk to reveal too much and overpromise and underdeliver. Furthermore, he has to support Battlelog, even if it does suck, because the company that signs his paychecks, ya know the publisher, insists on it.
And yes, they're just advertising. That's how you sell stuff. Ever notice how talk shows invite guests on their show and they just happen to be making a movie or new album and they talk about it? It's a PR move. It happens. Get used to it.
@jasonw1978: Did @Rushaoz ever imply that he is "eating up" everything this guy is telling us? The answer is no, he just enjoyed the interview for what it's worth. Don't buy into Sozialminister's hate train.
@Sozialminister: So because I'm not angry and call everyone liars I'm naive and a sheep? One thing that drives me nuts about people that call others "sheep" is that those people are a sheep of a different kind. It probably wouldn't matter what this guy said, you'd hate it anyway. Trust me, you'll be happier when you comes to terms with the fact that being angry and insulting others only makes you look bad. Try as you might, you're not hurting my feelings, despite what you think.
Maybe he wouldn't "suck" at it if he did a little research to understand the subject of the movie.
Many actors go through a lot to prepare for a roll. OK, don't make fun, but I once read that Renee Zellweger actually got a job at a publishing company in the UK for brief period to prepare for her roll in Bridget Jones Diary.
@Sozialminister: @Rushaoz If you're looking for info about the game itself, then yes, the interview didn't measure up. However, I liked it for a peek at the thought processes the devs go through when they approach the design of a game.
