@simonthekid7: Lego Crazy Taxi could work really well. It takes out the problem of trying to make things "realistic" and you then create some kind of ticking clock, like a race or something to drive the deliveries and whatnot. I think it could work.

Personally I'd like to see the Yakuza series turned into a movie played just like the games, super whacky situations played completely straight faced the entire time.

@Mamu-ti: Depends on how much and if I get to dunk on the game while playing it to a live audience. Never be above taking the money of fools, you'll find much better uses for it.

@mattwoahyeah: It would never fly with that crowd. They'd look at the ACTUAL free market mechanics at play and say "that's not CAPITALISM" because everyone would be flourishing, even the poverty group would be rising up in quality of life faster than anything else. They'd just say this is a fantasy, while complaining that the homeless need more charging stations for their iPhones...

Uncommonly Brazen? Do you even modern game? It's literally everywhere.

Even worse, when it is NOT present we hear the loudest complaints, see Stellar Blade, Helldivers 2, and several others.

@rb950818: Love the people who can't read between the lines. Phoenix might have brought the script, but he might NOT have wanted the NC-17 version of it, where he has to actually S the D. Obviously SOMETHING got under his skin about it and Occam's razor would suggest the most obvious reason would be the most likely one.

Also the weirdos in Hollywood have been extremely militant about actual representation rather than acting, so if you're not gay but play a gay character you could be subjected to attacks from those people.

Lots of potential reasons why he would back out at the last minute like this after bringing the script himself, we'll just have to wait and see if more details drop.

I loved the first game, but I think the second one was more fun to play. That said, I am done with censored games, especially remakes so I probably won't pick this up.

It's like if they did a remake of one of those classic raunchy comedies from the 70's and 80's (Animal House, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, etc) and took out the raunch entirely. Just because you can remove it, doesn't mean that you should.

I mean seriously, this is the game series that lets you beat zombies and psychos with giant purple "massagers" and a "Massager" launcher and a boss who uses a phallic flame thrower...so why censor the game in this way now?

Borderlands the movie failed because they tried to appeal to bigger audiences by making it PG-13, but in so doing they completely neutered everything that made Borderlands world and characters fun. The same is going to happen to every IP we love as they continue to carve away what made them silly and fun escapes from reality in the sad and vain attempt at appealing to a "wider audience" that never seems to materialize...
