It is a great post Arcadius.. and we as PC gamers need to remember the time, not so long ago, that we had to edit autoexec.bats and config.sys just to get a game to run. Things are simpler now, but we are still "tweakers" and that is what, I think a PC gamer is.. one who makes a game run by whatever means necessary. PC gaming is about building, tweaking, moding, patching, and fixing. It takes a certain kind of person to deal with this, and not just expect to pop in a game and play like it was some sort of console. PC gaming has NEVER been like that, and I feel, never will.

To prove my point.. Arcadius, my friend, you ARE a PC gamer. I am a PC gamer, since I also do what is necessary to run a game.. Sure, I would like to just pop in a game and play.. who wouldn't.. but I game on a PC for the occational challenge that crosses my path.

I'm still trying to find a way to run Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines without a crash.. and I will continue to do so, until I find a solution. :) Yes, I AM a PC gamer.

Oh, and also a graphics whore. :P

[QUOTE="Valkyrie_44"][QUOTE="mrbojangles25"]

I remember getting Falcon 4.0 when it first came out. It came ina binder, first of all, and inside was the CDs along with like 2000 pages of manual.

mrbojangles25

I still have my copy of Falcon 4.0, binder with all the accouterments.

Ya, mine is at my parents house. I bought Allied Force so I gotta remember to bring that manual back with me since Allied Force came with...nothing.

You think that was big.. try the 24 3.5 disk version of Office.. It came with EVERY manual for every program.. Excel, Word, Access, Powerpoint, etc. Now you don't even get a manual..pfft. I would say each of those books were AT LEAST 400 pages each, if not more.

And NO I didn't read them all.. NOR did I keep them.. something I'm kicking myself for nowadays..

Actually this "lack of patience" goes beyond just games.. I bought the 8800 GTS upon release.. THAT is a lack of patience... Funny how this doesn't really apply anywhere else in my life, except my car which is an 07'.

I guess you could say, that if you dangle a new game in front of my face.. I bet you dollars to apples I would snatch that game up faster than you can blink.. I guess.. I'm like Pavlov's Dog when it comes to games.

Here is another "satirical" rule:

33) Halo is the only FPS type game - any game that attempts to use this same type of gameplay is a cheap knock-off.

It was satirical... read it carefully.. One statement is purely satirical, while the other is not..

I also have a blog posting with all rules we need to live by in these here forums.. of course as much as I would like to take credit for these rules.. I mention the one who first posted them.. NotThat_Basic

This rule seemed fitting for the OP/TC :)

[QUOTE="Jack_Summersby"]

[QUOTE="the_ChEeSe_mAn2"]I guess THQ is the "co-conspirator" of the patch delays...anyhow....as long as there will be a patch, I will be happy (I can wait until after Clear Sky because I stopped buying games on release date a long time ago).the_ChEeSe_mAn2

If I had your discipline (not buying games until they're patched/working), I wouldn't have started this thread - you've got a great policy.

Exactly.The last game I bought on release date was Half-Life 2 in 2004. Ever since I wait until at least a patch comes in or reviews from people. Patience is a virtue even if at times, action is needed (such as with STALKER).

I'm too much of an American to do that.. I want my hamburger NOW, not tommorrow, not next week, NOW damnit! lol

Yes, I have a severe lack of patience when it comes to games.

Weird, because I have an incredible backlog of unbeaten games. Guess, I should FORCE myself to do as Cheese_man describes.

and us poor pc users suffer without a demo or a legit release while 360 gamers can play a demo, the full game, or a pirated version :/nutcrackr

The Toys R Us "slip up" was most probably due to the 9 million toy recall that recently happened.. things like iron based paint, which was banned 30yrs ago is still being used.. apparently.

Pirating is just a fact of being in the technological age.. Most of which occurs in countries other than the US.. Example: Mexico sells pirated games on the damn streets! I can buy a pirated version of any game for about 5 bucks.

360 got the demo.. okay.. no argument there.. but the company will head for the console market first .. why? Because most US gameplayers are console gamers.. the reverse is true in countries like the UK.. but since Microsoft is a US based company.. well..you draw your own conclusions ;)

most of what is on those "rules" are valid in this thread.. if you go back and reread some of the posts.. you will notice many of those rules apply :)

Lesson # 15) Only people of a certain 'level' or posting count have valid opinions - interlopers and 'noobies' are ignorant fools. Though, in defense of this statement, the sheer amount of new topics started by new posters (which typically hold no more value than a pile of dog doo) has caused this statement to be true.
