You would think that if car makers wanted you to brake with your left foot, they would have just put the brake on the left side of the steering column...

I've never met anyone who uses their left foot to brake. One of the first things they taught us in drivers education was that using your left foot for anything other than the clutch is a very bad habit. They cited all of the reasons listed here and then some. I'm not sure why you're pretending that you know better than everyone else.

The amount of time it takes me to switch my foot between my gas and brake is almost instantaneous. There is no practical reason to keep your left foot hovering over your brake pedal unless you get your jollies from irritating the people behind you on the road because your brake lights are constantly going on and off.

Also, the snow thing. I grew up in a city where it was too flat/windy/cold in the winter for them to even salt the roads. The reason people go into the ditch isn't because they're using their right foot for both pedals. They go into the ditch because no matter how hard you slam on your brakes in the winter, if you hit ice it isn't going to matter.

What reasons? nobody in this thread has given one single good reason to use your right foot over your left, except , "it may be easier to move to a manual transmission if you ever decide to do so" and "you might use the brake and gas at the same time if you use your left", so what, I'd rather hit gas and brake then only gas in a "panic" situation.
I don't know any left foot brakers that actually hover the brake at all times, I'd imagine there foot would get tired trying to do so, I do however cover the brake at possible dangerous areas, like intersections, hills, snowy conditions.

I've had a couple panic situations (I drive a box truck around all day) and I've never once hit the gas when I had to brake.

Your supposed to brake with your right foot, as your left foot, if you ever drive a manual transmission is for the clutch. If you get in the habit of braking with your left foot, it's going to be hard to break (no pun intended :P) if you decide to drive a stick.

That in IMO, is irrelavant, as I said before what about motorcycles? Why would I change a safe, efficient style of driving to make the tranition from auto to manual easier? Any car drivers moving to motorcycle would have the same problems. I believe in maximizing efficiency in whatever vehicle your driving, not driving one generic way for all vehicles.

I didn't see your post on motorcycles. But if you're going to change your driving style to fit a motorcycles lay out when your not driving a motorcycle, then your argument is just as "invalid" as mine, since your driving a certain way because of a different type of vehicle.

I'm just wondering. I had a sip of beer and it tasted pretty awful so what should I start drinking if I don't like beer? Any suggestions. I guess most of the time I like pepsi or dr pepper or something. I've also had wine too at church and that's even worse!

This camera is cutting edge technology. I for one am glad that this new technology is so affordable! $10! I'm picking one up right now! I've had it with these cords and all this computer nonsense :P

Need to find me a typewriter too. This e-mail stuff is nonsense.

My girlfriend's mom has it really bad. Keeps her up at night. She told me that the only way to really get rid of it is to pull her legs up, like your sitting indian style, but while laying down, and keep them pressed up against her. Has to really suck, she wakes up like every 2-3 hours because of it.
