I like how the White House picks and chooses which laws to enforce. It's a good example to be setting.

Isn't it? Milton Friedman once said you can't have open borders and welfare. But hey, illegal immigrants work for slave wages (which is great for business, bad for the poor who are legal citizens). Doesn't take an expert to realize the dangers of allowing illegal immigrants in this country. We already take in more legal immigrants than the rest of the world combined. Lets take it to another level by having open borders and see our public spending go even higher. For several years we have payed more for education and healthcare than any other nation. Again, lets see those costs rise. Lets also see fewer resources such as water, food, and energy in this country. Need I continue? Anyone that defends open borders and thinks its fine is living in Wonderland. Ah, who cares about national sovereignty, we live in a world of infinte resources!

Agreed. I'm a bit shocked someone said Mario. People actually enjoy Mario and not for purely nostalgic reasons.

People like Final Fantasy games for non-nostalgic reasons...

I didn't imply they didn't. I was speaking about a guy that said people liked Mario games because they grew up with it.

Immortal as in not being affected by natural causes (sickness, old age)? Or 100% immortal? At a certain point Earth won't be hospitable for life, and even later than that the Suns core will run out of hydrogen and then helium, and it will expand and consume Earth. So, I think there are certain things stacked against being immortal. Nevermind life slowly losing meaning, family members and friends dying, and a whole host of other things. I think I would rather have a loooooong healthy life. 200 years maybe.

[QUOTE="ad1x2"]So what would your suggestion be to reduce illegal immigration?worlock77

Crack down on the people who employ illegals.

This. There needs to be a law against those who hire illegals. I doubt it will happen after so many years though. I think its also very important to change the law which allows illegal immigrants children to become citizens (as people call them "anchor babies"). Some people might disagree with me on that, but I don't think its right allowing an illegal immigrant to have as many kids as they want and they all become American citizens. This nation has the 3rd largest population in the world, we don't need illegals spawning here in this increasingly crowded country. Environmentalists should argee with that statement. This has been going on for decades. Something thats not so well known is that NAFTA (which went into effect in 1994) really hurt Mexico's agriculture due to America's heavy farm subsidies. That in turn lead to more illegal immigrants crossing the border looking for work due to Mexican farmers going out of business.

Despite some posters lack of understanding as to why he (or anyone else for that matter) commited suicide, you weren't in his shoes. When so many Soldiers were apathetic to his grave mistreatments, he felt there wasn't a single person he could talk with. That is so often the case with people that commit suicide. Also, this wasn't just simply name calling: "Soldiers dragged him across a floor, pelted him with stones and forced him to hold liquid in his mouth while hanging upside down, according to diary entries and other accounts cited by a community activist." I'm a bit surprised nobody has said this was racial discrimination, as it seems so based on his fellow Soldiers teasing him about his Asian name several times. I can not even begin to comprehend how his family and friends feel. To have a loved one end their own life is perhaps the worst pain a person can endure in this world. At least the Army has taken appropriate action against those involved. Though, thats little solace since the damage has already been done.

Thats a great way to think of the news, how similar world events are to fictional stories. Thats a wise outlook on the world.
