Weekly Update #11

And you know what that means! Its the weekend!!! I realize that W.U. # 10 is still posted. Thats says I didn't blog a lot this week. Well anyways about that test from last blog, I think I failed :( well I'm sure I got more than 50% :D.

In news, Microsofr gained another kajillion dollars (:D) in profits. The 360 had a very succesfully year (2007). M'Soft's profits benefit us, the consumer, because they'll keep on suppoting the 360 till the end. Another important piece of info was GTA 4 arriving April 29th. I know GTA fans are really happy but some people think that R* won't reach its release date. Well think of it this way: if they weren't so confident about the release, would they even bother to tell us when its coming? Well lets just hope they make it.

The dumbest rumor of the week was Windows 7 screen shots. Do yourself a favour: dont belive it. Its clearly Vista SP1 with Vista's name torn off and replaced with Windows 7. IF ITS NOT COMING FROM M$ DONT BELIVE IT!!! PERIOD. If you waiting to see or hear more about windows 7, wait till WinHEC 08 (this Fall).

Anyways, the next 2 weeks are gonna be hard for me. My school is really really really really really really far away from my house. And since its Canada and its Winter its gonna be frezzin. Whats the problem? My parents are going away and coming back Feb. 9th. The good news is I dont have to walk Kilometers (Miles and Miles for americans ;) ). Instead I have to get a ride from my neighbors who I've never met (across the street). Don't worry, my parents have talked to these ppl. Wel I guess I shouldn't be complaining.

Speaking of americans eariler, their economy is dieing. Its not bad for M$ but it sucks for americans and other companies. Because M$ had a strong Q2 its wont really effect them big time. But Bush really sucks and I and the rest of the world hope americans see how he was a mastake. Better wrap this up....

Until Next time, See Ya!!

Studying Su*ks :'(

So I really dont want to study. I should be but have no motivation. Anyways when i jumped onto GS today i saw i have a PM. It said i was suspeneded for no reason. Odd. That was today, a couple of hours ago. And here I am posting in my blog. So i went over to the boards and tried to reply to messages andit worked. It said I was supposed to be suspended for 5 day from to day. Obiously this didn't work. So AlexN (A GS editor) is leaving today. Man this is really bad for GS. They had bad enough rep when jeff left. And now this? i have no idea what GS is gonna do. I acually admire that there still running this website as if nothing happened. I've been a long time GS-user. I found out about this website by myself back in .....thinks...... 2002 i think. And it wasn't untill 2005 I kept a close eye in the video game industry and its news. For news and reviews i chose GameSpot. I've been so used to GameSpot's website interface that I couldn't get used to another video game website like this. And plus I think GS has the best community. I always trusted GS for news and reviews and have enjoyed visting the forums. However for revies I may start looking eleswhere but then again, I hate navigating through a new web-design. Ever since Jeff left I dont take GS's review seriously. But I'd like to thank GS for still doing their best to provide gamers like me for a place to go. Well better get back to work :(. Hopefully, I'll do a Weekly Update 2morrow.

GTA 4 Preview.

First, about my last blog. When i posted the link i couldn't go in and edit anything. I acually said something after the link, but oh well. Well i stayed home today and didn't go to school because i woke up late :P. It never happens to me but i decided what the heck a mid-week break :P. So I was lucky enough to catch the gta 4 previews that big web sites were posting. The game looks very interesting. Now I'm not going to buy this because i have my own personal list but i will visit my cousin's house who will eventually buy it. So I guess i'll play it there. My cousin is definitly looking forward to this game. Its open space like previous games but more logically advance. Everything will be much more realistic. Along with GTA 4 my cousin will also pick up Gears of War. Yeah, he's late but so am I. I'll be picking up Gears soon too. Its just a must-have title. Well anyways it feels like a Friday for me but there still 2 days left.

Weekly Update # 10.

And you know what hat means. Its the weekend!!! Well anyways last week, i though this week would be better than the CES 08 week but it turns out they were the same. Nothing important really happened and its turning out to be a boring year. One thing for sure is that there's no vhance in hell 2008 can beat the awesomeness of 2007 and not only gaming-wise. 2007 was so far the best year of this entire decade. For Movies, Music, games, tech, TV everything!!! In news, the NDP numbers were in and it turns out PS3 was still at the bottom. The 360 was right under the Wii whice was 2nd next to the DS (no surprize there). Sony's products were the last 3 and PS2 was above PSP and PS3. So M'soft is doing very well. So i do belive my Half-life 2 review is up or at least it should be. Luckly, I have no Homework this weekend so i have tons of free time. I may or may not blog over the weekend. I'll be playing Half-Life 2 online a lot so..................................................................

Until then, See Ya!!!

Why is Microsoft being so secretive?

I've never seen Microsoft like this. Its acually quite shocking. Well ok, today i was talking to my freind who is a apple fanboy (were freinds b/c we fight a lot aboutyou know what) was comparing what Apple has done so far this year to Microsoft. He said things like The iphones updates and Macbook air and stuff. I did argued against him and agreed. Here's why.

Well first of all apple's iphone update are the same thing as, actually less, than M'soft's Service Pack updates that are coming in the matter of weeks. And Macbook air is nothing specail. Sony has a similar line thats better feature-wise (and i thinks it even weighs less). So yeah a $3000 laptop thats less featured than apple's own Macbook, in my mind thats a rip-off. Now getting back to why i agree with my friend. CES is usually the time companies announce big things coming this year. Sadly, almost all the coolthings we saw at CES were not coming this year. Microsoft did nothing. They held a rather unusually cool and entertaining keynote. But nothing big was anncouced. Compare this to what apple has newly anncounced for this year.

Well a couple of things. M'soft is most likely being quite b/c of the near launch of important stuff. Far more important than a silly-little laptop and phone updates. Well we have Windows Server 2008, Visual Studio 2008 (the world's #1 software program) and M'soft's SQL Server 2008. Along With Windows Vista SP1 And Windows XP SP3. My guess is that there so secretive b/c after these products launch, they'll start talking about new things. For some reason, the start of 2008 wasn't the right time for M'soft to talk about new things when the 5 M$ items i mentioned earlier haven't been released. And the fact that XP SP3 and Vista SP1 were supposed to be released last year means that M$ is behind schedule. This is some-what exiting. After these 5 Items we'll hear about Windows 7 and talks about other M$ products (Zune, Xbox product lines).

Microsoft's GDC Keynote.

Today M'soft anncouned thier Game Devloper's Canference. This is a huge Gaming event, well its for devs to have a chance to anncounce things, and its happening next month. Microsoft and Nintendi will be there for sure. They anncouned it today. Microsoft in particular said that heir keynote would be named "A Future Wide Open: Unleashing the Creative Community", and that a XBL guy from M'soft would be doing the keynote. The title interstests me in many ways. Well first off it confusing. Are they talking about XBL or Game Devs. XBL b/c it a XBL manager from M'soft. Devs b/c....... well its GDC of course. I'm not sure but im looking forward to it b/c there gonna anncoune new awesomegames coming this year and the next.

My MacWorld 08 thoughts.

If it would have to be one word it would be boring. So far 2008 has been a horrible year for tradeshows. Well I'm here to talk about MacWord so I'll point out the most important piece of news. Ok on the mac side we got what is whatapple calls the most thinest notebook in the world. Its called the MacBook thin and i suggest youfind out more eleswhere. I can say that this laptop is automatically a flop because of a $3000 pricetag. Apple's marketing team is the worst marketing team in the entire fricking world. Yes, Apple sells the most expensive stuff in every market thery are in. They wonder why people dont choose macs and it should come clear to them: itsgod-damn price they set. Don't tell me that Macs are specail and their high-end and thats y there so expensive. No. Compare a PC's and a Mac's prices today and realize that you can get a PC with the same specs as a mac but $800 cheaper. W/e you get my point. Apple is just plain stupid and it would suck to be a Apple Fanboy b/c you'd have to be rich like crazy.

THe next thing is laughable. Apple trying to bring back Apple TV. Except you dont need a computer and you can rent movies now. Still seems like just a "hobbie" for apple. Apple can't take the fact that Microsoft has beat them to the digital media experiance. And now apple is just trying to get back at M$.

If you want to hear the rest of the disapointing keynote, then go ahead.iphone got some new features and a lot of other things that just aren't important. So now we it wan't just CES.But seriously, Apple is losing it. Even Steve Jobs made a mastake. He talked aboutTiger (apple previous OS X release) instead of leopard anddidn't realize it. Well I guessSteve and Apple are getting old.It sucks. 2008 is gonna suck for the Tech world unless Tech companies give us something exciting later on this year. In my opinion, Microsoft's keynote was more entertaining than Apple's and I'm not jut saying that because i'm a Microsoft Fanboy. Apple is getting really annyoing and their just causing themselves problems. Its not only me who see's this.

"There's something in the air". Is it disappointment?

Thats the tag line for Apple's MacWorld 08. "There's something in the air". In case you haven't realized, Apple is the biggest influence in the consumer market. They have the whole ipod/itunes ecosystem monopoly and soon to take over iphone. Well tomorrow, Steve Jobs (Apple CEO and God to all apple fanboys) will be presenting his annual Keynote. And i have to be honest here, his keynotes are very exticting to not only apple fanboys but Technogly fans, because apple just has this vibe that makes them the "cool" part of the technogly world.

Now I'm not saying that Microsoft isn't "cool" but they don't need to be. Microsoft took over and changed the computer industry without having to be "cool" (by changed i mean how they made every1 realize it was the software that did it all). Apple took over the mp3 market because, well i'd like to say they were diffrent than the other mp3 companies but it was b/c every1 saw how they were cool. Now do you think the average person thinks or may even know that apple take over the mp3 market b/c they were the only company that had the right software and service at the time (yeah i know run-on sentence, sorry). Well ppl buy ipods b/c they look cool and every1 around them say its the best. That is exactly why Apple took over that market. I have a feeling the same will happen for iphone.Well Maybe, its a very different market.

Anyways so that brings us to MacWorld (somehow :P).What will happen? I don't know but expect a few surprised here and there. Macworld or even apple alone don't affect the gaming industry. I think we'll se some sort of wireless technogly or form for Apple TV. It fits in with the tagline i guess. But whatever it is its got to be wireless. Now lets hope Macworld doesn't disapoint like CES did this year.

**Edit**: In case you intertested, Steve's keynote will happen tomorrow January 15th 2008. To see it or read it i suggest Cnet.com but Apple.com should have the Quicktime video version of the entire keynote.

The Next "Digital Decade".

We all know Bill Gates is leaving Microsoft for a while. He'll probably be back in the next decade. But where will M$ be in what Bill gates calls "the next digital decade". Well first of all lets do a review on the first "digital decade" (this decade). Bill gates was right. The 1st digital deade was very successful. And the thing is, is that nobody had to lead it. The new and first digital decade was inevitable. Microsoft ruled the 90's and had the driver's seat with Windows 95. This decade Apple mainly had the driver's seat with the ipod/itunes ecosystem. However they failed to bring the digital experiance to the living room. Instead Microsoft did this with such products as the Xbox 360 and Windows Media Center. Apple TV fell flat on it's face and no matter what apple comes out with, its too late. Microsoft got their first and there's only 1 year left in this decade.

But what about the next decade? Where will Apple, Microsoft and the others be. We don't know for sure. I'm guessing that Microsoft's "connected digital experiance" wil become a reality and other companies will follow. Xbox will sure no doubt continue competing again the PS4 and Wii2 (code-names). And the Zune will become mainstream and eat a whole bunch of apple's market share. Windows will refreash and will become more advance usuing impressive features such as the undevloped and rumored "Windows future storage" and Windows Home server will sure become popular. Blu-ray, I have a strong feeling will become market leader early next decade and will become what DVD is today. But by 2015-2016 the internet will fully take-over and will deliver free HD content, so after Blu-rayHard Drives will become mainstream. And of course evryone will own a HDTV and it will be connected to their computers.ANd consumers will always be connected with who they want to be.

So I may be getting off on the wrong foot about the next digital decade and most of these thing will become standard like HDTV's, everyone will own one. If this happens than Blu-ray happens. And unless HD-DVD can get it's support back, that format is dead. And it'll also be interesting to see that "iphone" or "windows 95" of the 2010's.
