Merry Christmas to all of you, hope you got loads of good stuff (aka games). Me, I got all my money back on the Wii (my parents said they were going to pay for it). So now it's time to go look for a few new games...
Again, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of you.Â

MS now throwing in a 1 year warranty?
by Arcanine_88 on Comments
I guess Microsoft got it in the butt, now they are offering a 1 year warranty on all 360s bought this year. So it's no longer a 3 month one, it's a 12 month one. It's good (now I just got to get my brother to agree to send his 360 in), but a tad bit late, it should have been a full year warranty from the start (and not just an 05 thing). Is MS trying to cover their butt? Or are they getting smarter and trying to at least please 360 owners with their hardware (I love 360 games, I just hate the hardware...)? In any case, it's a good move on their part to up it to 1 year. I'm sure everyone saw it as a stupid move to make it only 3 months. Sony offers a a 12 month warranty, Nintendo offers a 15 month warranty if you register it online (12 if you don't reg it).
Link to the story.
And just a few days ago I got a new (upgraded) emblem. The FAQs say you got to get at least 500 tags... it took over 600 to get it.
Nice pretty blue. XD

Thank you Microsoft (not...), and a little on TP GC

I'm not sure if any of you have heard, but due to a Fall Dashboard update it bricked a good many systems. As I said before, my 360 was one of them systems. Well a week ago I read on GameSpot that MS is repairing systems for free (read the update). So I was happy about that. And I got around to calling them today (sort of busy most of the week). And after all the tech stuff (unplug your system, take out the hard drive, plug it back in etc) I pretty much got a "F you, you're paying for it to get it repaired." (they didn't say that, but they said I got to play $140 or however much it is to get it fixed). So that made my day. They said "it's a hardware problem". Uh... yea.... right... a hardware prob when I got the 3 blinking red lights RIGHT after I downloaded that update. They're right, all I did was drop the 360 on the floor, drop a brick on it, and put it in the ground to make sure it gets full of dirt. It might be a hardware prob. But I treaded that thing better then other systems (not better then the Wii, that thing is...... well it can't be touched without offering food or sacrifice a PSP or something XD), mainly because I hear it has a ton of probs. So now I'm screwed over, MS isn't going to do crap without me paying.
I'll likely go get a Core, and get a big fat extended warranty on it (because who knows if the system will last 4 months down the road). I don't need a high end one because I've already got the HD cables, an HDD, and two wireless controllers.
Oh and in Wii (sort of) news. The GameCube version of Twilight Princess got an 8.9 where the Wii ver got an 8.8. Surprised? I'm not, I just knew he'd give the GC ver higher. Oh, and to top it all off, when he reviewed the TP on the Wii he said the controls suck and a button would be better. Well now that he has it the dude says the controls for the Wii is better... Ok... that's uh.... strange. I got way more ideas on why the GC ver got higher, but I'm not going to get into it here. He's a reviewer and it's his views on the games. Nothing I can do about it (don't want to lose my head because of my ranting or as some would call it "Jeff bashing"), and I stopped trusting GS' reviews when I saw the Wii TP score. Is GS biased against the Wii? I'll let you be the judge.

Wii.... About time I got one
by Arcanine_88 on Comments
Well I got a Wii yesterday morning. Went to Toys R Us and they had 14 tickets, and I was 14th in line (got there 5 mins before someone else), talk about cutting it close.
But, now I got one and I'm really happy (wanting one for ages, didn't get it on launch day, and now got one...). Along with the Wii I got Zelda, Red Steel, and another Wiimote (couldn't get a Nunchuck, but it isn't needed in most of the Wii Sports games). Over all, it was a great great day (it would have been a great day if all I got was just the Wii).

No Wii
by Arcanine_88 on Comments
I was one of the people who thought "Well even if you didn't get a pre-order you'll get a Wii on launch day". Wow was I wrong. Most of my friends didn't get a Wii, and I know I didn't get one (and I called 10 stores). So this is just funny (not really funny, I'm so far past pissed off), here's me making plans about the Wii and I end up not having one today. If I did have one I wouldn't be taking the time to type this up, I'd be playing it. So I'm not very happy right now, because I've wanted a Wii for like forever. And here I am typing up a blog post on me not getting one. Yep, this SUCKS.
Twilight Princess and Red Steel GS Reviews
by Arcanine_88 on Comments
Both the TP (Twilight Princess) and Red Steel reviews came out last night on GS. And I was speechless, I truely couldn't say anything about them review scores. I'll start off with Red Steel because TP is larger.
Red Steel: The game got a 5.5. I wasn't looking for a rating much higher then 7.0-7.5 from GameSpot. But a 5.5 rating? I mean come on. Said there's no blood in the game, said there was no cussing in the game. I mean come on. No I haven't played the game, yes it was one of the most "glitchy" games at E3. But still, a 5.5? I don't think that's right, even more so after that TP review.
Twilight Princess: This was the game that made the forums get 500 posts in 4 hours in a single thread (there were tons and tons of other threads). This review is what got GameSpot and GameFAQ forums all worked up. LoZ: TP got a 8.8 rating. For a Zelda game, and for the "Best Zelda game" (from Nintendo) this rating is crap. An 8.8 yet GoW gets a 9.6. No I wasn't looking for a super high rating from GameSpot. But other sites has given TP a 9.5 or 4/5 at the lowest. Now what was wrong with TP?
Well Jeff said the controls suck. Now for me I can't understand this, I really can't. Almost everyone that played the game said the Wiimote worked great with TP. Said it's far far better then just clicking a button. Said if you had to pick TP on the Wii or the GC then pick the Wii. I for the life of me can't understand why Jeff said the TP controls sucks.
He said the music is old. Now how can you change the Zelda music that much? I mean you would lose the Zelda feel if you change the music. I mean for come on, it's a Zelda game, it wouldn't be a Zelda game without it's music.
And he said the text also is crap. I do like voices in games, but Zelda is one of the few games where I like the text. I mean you would lose the Zelda feel if you lose the text in the game. Yes are voices are nice, but I think I'll take the text in a Zelda game.
And most of all, he said it feels too much like Zelda. Like WTF is up with that? It feels too much like Zelda? OMG maybe GoW feels too much like a shooter.
Do I care what someone thinks about a game? No. I get my reviews from two places. X-Play, and GameRankings.com. But GS is hurting Nintendo, I've seen posters on the forums saying "I'm rethinking Red Steel. | I'm rethinking Zelda. | I'm rethinking the Wii.". Does this hurt GS? No. Do they care? No. To me they have went Microsoft, and what's worse they have went Anti-Nintendo. I just wish people wouldn't judge the Wii or it's games by the reviews from GameSpot. Because by the looks of it we won't see many (if any) 9.0 ratings for Wii games. Because if Twilight Princess gets a 8.8 and it being one of the best games then I don't have high hopes for GS Wii reviews.

The 360 is crap.
by Arcanine_88 on Comments
I love nothing more then a game system that breaks down after a few months of play. Well that's what my brother's 360 did a few days ago, it broke down. I will say this again, the 360 is total crap. Why is it total crap? Because we got the Red Ring of Death the other day because of a Microsoft Dashboard update. I know it was Dashboard update because that's when I first got the Ring of Death (but it didn't "kill" the system right then), and before then everything was fine (Oblivion would lock up but that's about it). And I was reading around and people that called MS about it said you got to pay $140 to fix that. Now isn't that lovely? I got to pay to fix their mistake. I didn't take the system and drop it on the ground, I didn't spill coke or something on the 360, I didn't do anything bad to the 360. So tell me again on why I got to pay them to fix one of their junk buckets? But that's not the only reason on why it sucks, nooo. Another thing is, why does so many people have probs with the 360? Why do I see people on their own forums saying "I'm on my fourth 360"? And I've seen some of them around here too. Why does the fan sound like a train? Why is the power brick larger then a brick? Why does it have disc drive errors and probs?
The 360 games are good and fun (GRAW is my fav shooter), but MS dropped the ball on the 360. They rushed the system just to be first, and being first doesn't always mean it's best. The PS2 had probs, I got a PS2 like a year or so after it came out. And mine had disc drive errors (it wouldn't play PS games, it wouldn't play non DVD PS2 games, and it'd take like 3 mins to first load up DVD PS2 games), but at least I can still pull it out and play it. But what I find more sad is, my SNES still works. I mean it's old and yet it runs better then a new 360, now that's sad.
I am glad that it broke so close to the launch of the Wii. This way I can wait on fixing it (to see if MS has a nice day in court and offers free repairs or something). At least I know because it's Nintendo there's a good chance that it'll last really really well (all my Nintendo hardware still works, everything from the SNES to the GBC, to the N64, to the GBAs and so on).

New Super Smash Bros Brawl trailer
by Arcanine_88 on Comments
I've already put 25 hours on FFXII. I hope I don't beat it too fast that'd really suck for me if I do. It's a good long game so I should have at least a little more time in it.
Anyway, today a new SSBB trailer came out. And it was pretty darn sweet, and they even got a new (well.....) character in there. I was happy to see a new trailer for SSBB, I heard a few days ago that they were going to show one so I was looking for it. We were sort of running dry on SSBB stuff.
And here it be.

Final Fantasy XII and 100 games
by Arcanine_88 on Comments
I would have posted this yesterday (the 31st) but I was too busy playing Final Fantasy XII. XD
If you're a big FF fan (like myself) then I know you already got the 12th installment of the numbered Final Fantasy series.
Me, I got my Collector's Edition and I'm happy about it. I was waiting a long time for this game, and now it's out and in my hands. To me the extra $10 bucks is well worth it, comes with a DVD that shows a ton of things about FF and 12.
And on top of that FFXII is the 100th game me and my brother own. So it's nice to put the landmark 100 with an FF game.

30 days, Sixaxis, and a Princess of Twilight
by Arcanine_88 on Comments
30 Days: Does anyone know what today is? It's the 19th of October. That means it's one month away from the launch of the Wii. This time next month I'll be playing the Wii (Red Steel or LoZ: TP). I'll have my laptop on my bed, have an MSN window open with some online friends, because we're all pulling an all nighter when we get the Wii.
So long ago we first saw the Wii, saw the controller, heard about the revolution. To me it was so long ago that we first heard about the Wii and wondered what this little box can do. What is this thing all about. Now only a month away and we'll see if "Playing = Believing". I can't wait for it, I can't wait for the controller, I can't wait to see how it feels, I can't wait for Twilight Princess and Red Steel.
So close, yet so far.
Sixaxis: Isn't is just the best of names? I mean come on, how can you hate something called Sixaxis? I myself thought the PS3 controller would be called "PSWii-mote" but I guess I was wrong.
Sony made a pretty stupid move with the controller. See, the battery in the controller is rechargeable. But the thing is, you can't change it. Once the battery dies you got to go out and spend another $50 for a brand new controller. And people say the Wiimote is too much. Sure it's $10 more, but at least you won't have to buy a new Wiimote once the batteries dies (I got rechargeable batteries, and they don't cost $50 a whack). I think off-brand controller makers is going to have a field day with the PS3 controller. Because all they got to do is add a double A battery slot and they make money (I'm not one to buy off-brand, and I won't be buying an off-brand PS3 controller, but many people will).
Twilight Princess: Who here just loves how Joystiq jumps the gun and pisses off a bunch of people. Today they came out and said that Twilight Princess for the GameCube won't be sold in stores. Now this not only pissed off a bunch of Zelda fans (they got it bad enough having to wait for the GC ver) but pissed off a lot of Nintendo fans (I got a few friends that wasn't all that happy when they heard the news). But it turns out that Joystiq was wrong. They jumped the gun again and spit out news they had no facts on. Like how they messed up on the PS3 controller, saying you have to plug it in each time you turn it on. And like how they said Shiggy said the Wii was just a GC with a new controller. And other things. Don't get me wrong, Joystiq breaks some pretty big news. But if I can't find it on Go Nitnendo, Wii Fanboy, or The Wiire then it really doesn't matter to me. I think they should just get the facts before pissing off a bunch of people.
Oh, and I so want this...
Why? Well, it's got the Wii logo on it, and it lights up... XD
