No GS Launch Center for Metroid Prime 3, but one for a game a month away?

We saw a BioShock Launch Center, and we got a Halo 3 Launch center, but no sign of a MP3:C one. Now I will admit that both BioShock and Halo 3 are big hyped games, but Halo 3 comes out in a month, Metroid comes out in 2 days. Now I find it strange that a game (even if it is Halo) gets a Launch Center more than a month away yet one of the biggest games for the Wii gets nothing (and I will note, both Halo and Metroid Prime got a 9.7, and there is only a .3 point difference in Metroid Prime 2 and Halo 2). Yes, someone is going to say "A Launch Center is just a page with some extra stuff and able to leave comments. Don't make a big deal about it.", well if you're a Halo fan, saw that Metroid Prime 3 Corruption (biggest shooter for the Wii) gets a Launch Center and Halo 3 (biggest shooter for the 360) doesn't then you'll be mad. I just find it funny that GameSpot gives Halo 3 a launch center a month from launch, and gives Metroid Prime 3 nothing. What about down the road? Will Super Smash Bros Brawl (biggest game for Wii, will likely outsell all other Wii games) also get shafted, will we get nothing more than a little play time video like Super Paper Mario got, or will it get nothing at all just like MP3:C? I just find it funny that GS will pull out the red carpet for two big 360 games and give the Wii the back door because they see it not good enough to go in the front. Will we see this a good bit come down the road (because Metroid is a big game, nothing to scoff at. What I'm saying is, if Metroid doesn't get the royal treatment then who's to say SSBB or other games won't end up like MP3:C)...

I'm in the mood for a Final Fantasy VII remake

As of late, lots of Final Fantasy stuff has been floating around for me. GameTrailers.com has a Final Fantasy Retrospective and for now went up to Final Fantasy VII. A few days ago I was just watching random things off my computer and saw the PS3 FFVII Tech Demo. One of my friends might be getting FFVII for the first time. A few of us were talking about FF remakes, like FFIII, FF I & 2 Dawn of Souls, FFVI, FF I and II for the PSP and so on. And now I'm in the mood to get my hands on a FFVII remake. In a way, I hope the remake is for the PS3. I'd love it if it was for the DS or the PSP, where my friends would be able to play it, since they don't plan on dishing out $600 for a PS3. It's just that tech demo that was shown, it likely makes all of us that played FFVII say "If only". How would FFVII be if it was fully redone, if it was voiced, if it once again made us go "Wow...". That's what I'm looking for in a FFVII remake. As I said, I'd love for all my friends to play it, but at the same time I'd go out and get a PS3 today if I knew VII was going to hit the PS3 next week. If I HAD to pick a console for the remake to be on, it'd be on the PS3. I'm just in the mood for a VII remake on the PS3.

OMG my PSP now has a use

If you didn't know (and I'm pretty sure you didn't unless you're one that talks me to all the time off of GS XD) my PSP just sat there and got dusty, while the DS got hours and hours and hours of use (I put over 300 hours on Diamond). Well last week that sort of changed. First off last Tuesday I got Season 10 of Stargate SG-1 and picked up Tales of the World as well. Since then I've put in about 25 hours, and Diamond hasn't been getting much play at all. And then Thursday I picked up Tekken DR, and Lumines as well. And then Friday I got this spiffy new Logitech keyboard/mouse set (all of this came from the same Circuit City). But as I was saying, OMG my PSP might now be worth the $250 I had to pay for it (seeing how I've only had 1 game for like 2 years I guess, my brother has the Spider-Man game), maybe I'll get lucky and get other PSP games I like.

The dry feeling left by E3 07

Got a dry feeling in your mouth? Feel like you want something more? Could it be E3 07? I don't know about any of you, but E3 07 felt sort of dry to me. It felt like I wanted more out of this year's E3 but never got it. Felt like I was grasping for something I could almost get but came up short.

~ Microsoft
Sure out of Microsoft we got a few things. We got a new Halo 3 trailer, most people were looking for this and as expected we got the trailer, and we got a new Halo 3 edition of the 360. We also got some Assassin's Creed gameplay (with a strange floating enemy). Some info and a trailer on the non World War 2 game, Call of Duty 4. A little something known as Mass Effect. Some good times with Grand Theft Auto 4. And Peter Moore failing at singing, playing with a non controller, and not knowing where the pause button is on a game called Rock Band.
But where was the meat to the press conference? Where was the 360 price drop to rival the PS3's? Where were the big games we didn't already know about? Where was the ground breaking info that was going to blow us away? We did get a little info and games, but that's all we got. We didn't get anything to blow us away like I had hoped. Microsoft's press conference was there just to be there (or just to show off Halo 3). And that just isn't good enough.
I think the biggest thing to come from the press event is that Disney will be putting their movies on the 360. Not bad that we will get to relive some of the movies from the house of mouse. But sorry Microsoft, Winnie The Pooh doesn't strike me as the type to fit in on the 360.

~ Nintendo
We did get a little more info from Nintendo then what we got from Microsoft. But being a Nintendo fan I was let down by them more than the other two. We had Shigeru Miyamoto (if you think about it, the father of modern gaming. Without him where would be today?) standing up there saying he didn't want to show off Phantom Hourglass, didn't want to show off Mario Kart for the Wii, didn't want to show off Galaxy. But he wanted to show off a balance board and a game called Wii Fit. As I said, I'm a Nintendo fan (I do own consoles from all three companies, but everyone has a favorite), and that hurt me. You have Siggy standing up there pretty much saying "I've sold out to the casual and non gamers". I'm sorry, but I didn't buy my Wii to check my body mass index or lose weight. I didn't buy my Wii to exercise in my house when I can do it outside (and save a bit of money too). To me this was just a slap in the face of hard core gamers that want the Wii to be more then just a tool to lose weight. Ok, sure it has potential for something more, maybe a snowboarding game, or something along them lines. But that doesn't change the fact that Nintendo is saying "casual gaming is the way to go".
The whole press event for Nintendo wasn't a total bust. We did get some release dates for some games. We found out that a Medal of Honor game will be going to the Wii. Super Mario Galaxy will be coming our way November 12th. Super Smash Bros Brawl will be hitting the North American market December 3rd. And maybe the biggest news for the whole event (discounting Wii Fit), the Wii will be getting a Mario Kart game. It will be online, it will come with a steering wheel, it will have online battles, and it will be out Q1 08. I was wondering when Nintendo would come out with a Mario Kart game for the Wii, and looks like it'll be sooner then I thought. We also found out that Guitar Hero 3 will be online. We also got to see what the final version of the Wii Zapper will look like. And to me I think it'll work out pretty well (can't wait to get my hands on it and see does better or worse).
But like before, I was left with the feeling of wanting more. Where was the Super Smash Bros trailer with a few new characters? Where was info on No More Heroes, or Project HAMMER, or Disaster: Day of Crisis? I mean come on, they could have just tossed us a bone on some of the other games that they talked about before but has little info on. You're lacking Nintendo, in more ways than one.

~ Sony
I think Sony had the best press event this year. And they were the wild card in all this, it was their event to win or lose. For this gen they are running last, and they needed something to get them back on their feet. And I believe they did take the win at this year's E3. Their whole press conference was pretty much to games games and more games. Unlike Nintendo and Microsoft Sony didn't have much numbers to spit out there. The DS is outselling the PSP, the Wii and 360 is outselling the PS3, they couldn't say that. So they focused on the games to come. They had trailer after trailer on upcoming games for the PS3 and PSP. Games for the PSP like Socom, Final Fantasy Tactics, God of War, Castlevania, Star Wars Battlefront, and others. PS3 games like Heavenly Sword, LittleBigPlanet, Ratchet & Clank, Unreal Tournament 3, Whipeout, Liar, Warhawk, Gran Turismo 5, Haze, Burnout, Resident Evil 5, Metal Gear Solid 4, and Killzone 2.
I might not be as open minded as some, but Echochrome looks well... stupid. And home doesn't look like something I'd spend a lot of time playing around with. But that's just me.
They also had some new info on hardware. The price drop for the 60 gig PS3, as well as finding out that they won't be making 60 gigs anymore. The new 80 gig PS3. The smaller, faster PSP. Along with the Star Wars edition PSP. Something Nintendo and Sony has been doing for years is making a smaller, better version of a system. The PSP is the next in line for that. You'll be able to plug the PSP into the TV and watch it on the TV, it's also got more RAM to make loading times faster.
I think what put Sony over the top (for me at least) was the killer trailer for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (I have never played an MGS game, but I loved that trailer). And the gameplay of Killzone 2. Killzone 2 I think helped them more than any other thing they showed off at that press event. After the whole thing with the first vid of Killzone 2 Sony came back and said "This is what we're able to do.".
But, where was Final Fantasy XIII? Or Soulcalibur IV? Or Tekken 6? I can't really complain about Sony's event that much (other than lacking some games I want for the PS3), because it was the best one, because it stuck to what mattered, because gaming was first on their mind.

Over all, I still see this E3 lacking in a lot of parts. Last year we got trailers, we got lots of info on games to come, and so on. This year we got sells numbers, and singing company big wigs, new ways to lose weight, and how to dress up your avatar on an online world. Maybe the reason why the feeling wasn't there was because last year's E3 was so big and eventful. But this year it was smaller, and I felt like wanting more after all of it. I was looking for my Super Smash Bros Brawl trailer. I was looking for my Final Fantasy XIII info or trailer. I was looking for some big game to come out for one of the big three. Did I get my hopes up too high? Maybe. But it doesn't change the fact that both Microsoft and Nintendo fell short this year. They forgot what Sony had to learn, that E3 is all about the games. They talked about numbers too much, they had one too many live demos, they took up too much time on this and that where they could have talked more about the games to come. And I think all three lacked new games we haven't heard about. Sony did do the best, but it could have been done better for each one of the three.

So for E3 07, I'm going to walk away with the feeling that it could have been more.

Two new Wii games

Maybe I should do this more... making updates for new games I get... but if I do I'll have a new update every week or two. XD
And what's sad is, I'm not kidding...

Anyway, today I picked up Pokemon Battle Revolution and Resident Evil 4 (Wii ver). Yes, that is a very sick combo. RE4, like at the top of M rated scary games and all that. And here's Pokemon to counter it (I'm not calling Pokemon kiddie, sure lots of kids play it, but if you get deep into the RPG side of it Pokemon D/P you can't have a more deep RPG system, but it looks like a kids game). I don't think I want to know what the Wal-Mart game dude (you know how you got to ask someone to get a game) was thinking, maybe like "WTF? RE4 and Pokemon?". Poor guy. XD

The only downside is, I already got 50 other games to beat, and what's holding me back is Diamond. The whole online battle thing to it. I have won some 20 odd battles with friends, but my team right now... well I could do better (I really hate to lose). So I'm pretty much reworking half (or more than half) of the team. And that's taking forever (and to top it all off, I haven't beat the 7th Gym yet). I'm only 5 hours out from beating FFXII and yet it sits there, ToA I haven't started on, I bought Paper Mario (GC ver) a month ago and still haven't put it in the Wii/GC yet. Mario Party 8 I got the same day and I played it the first day and haven't touched it since. And others. DAMN YOU POKEMON DIAMOND!!!!!! *Goes back to playing Diamond* XD

Have you ever seen the rain?

It's just a title the Stargate fans around here that's seen the final ep, they'll know what it means. So this is pretty much going out to them.
Nothing much here, just saying it was great to see Stargate SG-1 last 10 Seasons, too bad it was killed before it's time.

May it live on in the hearts and minds of the fans..... as well as the movies to come. XD

I just had to make an update about my fav show going off the air.

And mjk1 has a nice vid for the end of SG-1, the vid.

Brawl Controls Revealed

This should make every single person happy if they're getting Brawl.

This is something many of my friends talked about. Us saying that Brawl would work out best if it had all 4 control styles. And I was really really happy to see this (just last night Nintendo Power UK said Brawl will use the Wiimote + Nunchuk. And we were let down by that), and I know many of my friends were as well. I want to use the Classic Controller, it's got the buttons and analog sticks to back it up. Morkula and Fallen_Leaf (both on my GS friend list, somewhere on there) last night said they want to use the GameCube Controller. And I know others that want to use the Wiimote + Nunchuk. So this way works out for everyone. I LOVE how they made Brawl to fit all 4 controller styles. It's what I was hoping for, it's what many of us talked about having. And here it is.

So, what control style will all of you be using?

Super Smash Bros Brawl (Site update)

SSBB.com got a little update a few hours ago (3 am EST). And by little, I do mean little. First off, here's the link to the site.
Smash Bros.com
The site ATM doesn't have much of anything (not what everyone was expecting when heard that a site update was on it's way). But it does have some new screens (sort of). It has the menu theme (I like that theme a lot). It lists the ones doing the music for the game. Ones like Yoko Shimomura (Kingdom Hearts), Yuka Tsujiyoko (Fire Emblem series), Akihiro Honda (Metal Gear Solid series), Motoi Sakuraba (Tales series, Golden Sun), Masato Kouda (Devil May Cry), Kazumi Totaka (Animal Crossing), Shogo Sakai (Super Smash Bros Melee), Toru Minegishi (The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess), and others. And here we thought we had it high when we just had legendary composer Nobuo Uematsu (google or Wiki him if you don't know XD) doing the opening theme. You just don't get 35+ big musicians (many worked/working on legendary game series) in the same room unless something big is going down.

SSBB has a nice touch with the time on the Wii.

This is what you get as the basic/default for this level.

But when the sun goes down outside...

And when it gets dark...

And when the sun shows it's face again...

Not bad, the time of day adds a new feel to the levels.

The site will be updated every weekday. So maybe we won't run too dry on SSBB info.
It is 1-4 players (not much of a shocker, but IMO I would have liked 8 online. But we can't get everything we want). And it also has an 07 planned release date.
The update wasn't as big as most has hoped, but I think it was good enough (to me, any SSBB info is good).

New DSLite

Yesterday I was able to get around to a store that had games and stuf. And so I was able to pick up a DSLite
Pic 1
Pic 2

The difference in the DS and the DSLite is big. Well not THAT big. But when I turned on Diamond on the DSLite I was shocked by the colors, they were so vibrant, and when I go back to the normal DS they look dull. And then there's the size and color! I love the small small look of it, and I just love the dark look of the Lite.
The only downside, fingerprints (and a stupid screen protector I got for it, it has bubbles under it and it bugs me, so I'm not sure if I should keep it on or not), I hate fingerprints and the Lite just loves to get them. XD

In any case, I love my new DSLite. Now I just need to make up my mind about the screen protector. XD
