How does Oblivion's open world compare to GTA, Red Dead, InFamous, and others?
A lot bigger, not to mention Shivering Isles adds another open world. And locations are available for quick travel once you discover them, as long as you're not in a building or dungeon. So exploring in Oblivion I find is much easier than any of those games you listed.
Quick travel is a nice feature. I loved Red Dead because of the different atmosphere. I didn't care for GTA IV, just tired of the city setting. InFamous was a city setting, but unique gameplay. So action RPG. Does that mean constant fighting or turn-based like FF? Is it fun if I'm not a big number cruncher as far as leveling etc.?
Valkyria Chronicles is a very different game from Oblivion or Fallout 3 (strategy vs action-RPG). Oblivion is more medieval, while Fallout 3 is more post-apocalyptic.

I would prefer medieval. Never played a game like that. I'm burned out on post-apocalyptic things. Can Oblivion be picked up/put down so to speak?
Anybody else wish they could play Farenheit/Indigo Prophecy with move controls? It wouldn't be too hard to port it to the PS3 and add a new control scheme...
