Xbox 360 News

Man I have a crapload of games to play and I really wanna get back into Gamespot so here's a little summary:

Currently Playing:

1, Fantastic Four - :( I know Im an achievement whore

2, Eternal Sonata - Friend borrowed and I can't wait to play another solid RPG even though I heard it has a bad ending

3, The Orange Box - Bought this but haven't really gotten into it. Gears of War still remains better than this and Halo 3.

4, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance - Bought for 10 bucks and really want to get achievements but heard it was a good game

5, Gears of War - Still trying to play a game every day. Alot more fun than Halo 3 and Orange Box.

6, Halo 3 - Still havent beat the campaign >_>

7, The Darkness - Wanna rebeat the game on hard and play more online which is fun but 80% of the time laggy

8, BioShock -Rebeat the game on hard and collect most of the stuff

9, Burnout Revenge- Finish off the game which Ive been dying to officially complete

Things I wanna do on Gamespot:

1, Review Played Games:

- BioShock

- The Darkness

- Crackdown

- Enchanted Arms

- Saints Row

- Oblivion

2, Blog my Top 20 Games of All Time

3, Blog more about ongoing gameplay.

BioShock

Will BioShock be purchased by me and why or why not?

I'm not going to lie but I was never overhyped about BioShock. I knew the game existed and I knew it was going to be great but I was more hyped for games like Burnout Paradise, Grand Theft Auto IV, and Too Human. Sadly all 3 games that I was most interested for got delayed and I think that this worked really well for BioShock. Also, what's a seller for me, besides the obvious fact that its getting amazing reviews and critical praise, is that its the first big game of the season and the last hurrah before school starts. BioShock will be added to my collection for sure come August 21st and I'm very glad I get to also get The Darkness with BioShock for a combined price of $89.99 at Best Buys across Canada.

Buying Factors

- August 21st Release Date - First game in an amazing Fall/Winter 2007 Lineup

- Critical Praise - IGN, Game Informer, Gamespot and EGM giving the game amazing praise

- Music - The Original Score in the game is great and the Beyond the Sea song is now stuck in my head

- Graphics - Graphics look top notch for a next generation game

- Immense World of Rapture - BioShock gives you a whole new underground world that is Rapture

Negative Qualitys

- Lifespan - The game is suppose to be around 20 Hours but I doubt it'll be that long

- Replay Value - Jeff on Gamespot has gotten 90% (45/50)of the achievements and had beaten the game in3 days

- No Multiplayer - I know alot of people hate cheap multiplayer but why not just throw it in for those types of players

Reception

So far the reception and reviews of BioShock has been great. But I feel like for a game like BioShock that is only a first person shooter with a stellar story isn't deserving of a 10/10 or anything above 9.5. I feel like some reviewers are hypocrites, especially those who complained that a game like Kameo that lasted 15 hours was too short but a game like BioShock that will last 15 hours is fine. Also, how can IGN give BioShock a 9.7 and Grand Theft Auto III a 9.6. GTA II created the sandbox genre and Bioshock again is only a story driven FPS. Not saying that it's a bad game but I think reviewers are being a bit bias to BioShock. I'll buy the game no matter what and I know I'll enjoy it but I don't think it will be anything revolutionary like Halo 2 for online gaming and GTA III for sandbox gameplay.

Final Thoughts

August 21st gamers will be able to judge whether BioShock will be remembered or not but I'm sure it'll be found in the hearts of all gamers who play it. Finally, if you haven't played BioShock yet make sure you play the demo on the Xbox Live Marketplace and decide for yourself whether the game will be worth your money.

Future Games

The end of 2007 looks to be a very promising year. Here is a list of games I will buy by the end of winter;

1, Grand Theft Auto IV (Oct 16 2007)

- Grand Theft Auto IV will be amazing. I don't really have to see any more gameplay or trailers to know this. Rockstar has not and will not disappoint fans of the GTA series. I'm kind of upset that GTA isn't getting as much recognition as Call of Duty, Halo, Mass Effect or Bioshock. Hopefully when it comes out and gets the first 10/10 on Gamespot people will see it's greatness.

2, Mass Effect (Nov 2007)

- I'm a casual RPG player but I always like the epic stories they tell and Mass Effect is no different. Like Oblivion was my first Bethseda game, Mass Effect will be my first Bioware game and I am stoked. I never was really a Star Wars or Star Trek fan but sci-fi space games always interested me and I'm pretty sure Mass Effect will be a perfect start to an epic game trilogy.

3, Halo 3 (Sept 25 2007)

- Halo 3 is like my peer pressure game. The only reason I'm buying it is because every person on Earth who owns a 360 will buy it. I never understood the greatness of Halo and probably never will but I'm sure it'll give me some great online experiences.

4, Burnout Paradise ( Jan/Feb 2008 )

- Burnout Revenge is the best racing game of all time in my eyes. I hate realistic racing games because I'm not a huge car person. But the Burnout series has always had great music and a great concept of racing and Paradise will probably exceed my expectations.

Games I will play for sure;

1, Two Worlds (July 31 2007)

- Hopefully this game will be good. I know it won't be Oblivion great but as long as it gets decent reviews (7.5-8.5) I'll probably pick it up cheap. I just hope the 8 player co-op experience is great and not laggy at all. The co-op is what makes me really excited in this game. Imagine playing Oblivion with 8 people .....that's what Two Worlds is except not as great...probably not as great.

2, Blue Dragon (Aug 21 2007)

- Not much to say on Blue Dragon. It'll be a great RPG so I hope that it gets the recognition it deserves and I probably will pick it up if I enjoy it.

3, Bioshock (Aug 28 2007)

- Bioshock is the talk of the town and I'm sure that it'll be a great experience. I'm still unsure if I'll like it but looks like it'll be a fun gaming experience. My friend will probably buy it so I'll just borrow it off him after he's done. But then again I might just buy it because it'll be my last hurrah before school.

4, Eternal Sonata (Sept 18 2007)

- Again, not much to say on Eternal Sonata. I'll borrow it off my friend. It's going to be a great game but not a game I'll buy.

5, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (Nov 2007)

- Modern Warfare has a chance to be better than Halo. I'm sure it will be but who knows. If it gets great reviews and is alot more like Call of Duty 2 and alot less of Call of Duty 3 I will probably pick this up right away or in the next couple of months.

6, Assassin's Creed (Nov 2007)

- Again, I never liked Prince of Persia and I hated that it got more recognition than Beyond Good and Evil but I'll probably play Assassin's Creed because I'll borrow it off a friend. I have no high hopes of the game but it'll probably be at least entertaining.

7, Army of Two (Nov 2007)

- All I will say about this game is this; If EA doesn't mess up this could be a great game.

8, Lost Odyssey (Nov 2007)

- Like Blue Dragon and Eternal Sonata, may be a hit or miss RPG.

Also games for system's that I do not own that I am excited about;

1, Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3) (March 2008 )

- The best fictional series of all time. I'd rather watch it than play it. I am pysched to see the conclusion of this epic series.

2, Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii) (Dec 4 2007)

- The best fighting series of all time. This game might make me buy a Wii...might.

3, The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (DS) (Oct 1 2007)

- I'll borrow a DS off my friend to play this game. I've loved all of Zelda's handheld games especially Link's Awakening and the Minish Cap.

E3 Afterthoughts

Microsoft - 7/10

- Blue Dragon

- BioShock

- Eternal Sonata

- Halo 3

- Grand Theft Auto IV

- Mass Effect

- Lost Odyssey

- Burnout Paradise

Microsoft decided to focus on games that will be released before the end of 2007 instead of focusing on games that would come out in 2008 and onwards. I believe that what Microsoft did was a noble effort. It showcased games that not everyone would of noticed if it wasnt for E3. Im sure Mass Effect and Lost Odyssey have more fans because of the great trailers that were shown.

What I also really enjoyed about Microsoft's Conference was the statistics they gave. Usually I'm not really a stats person but Peter Moore deliveredvery interesting stats. Assassin's Creed and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare both have gained a lot more attention in my eyes. Before watching the conference I looked at them and said they were 'meh' games. Games that I might rent or buy cheap or whatever - who cares. But they have great potential.

The only thing that I didn't like about the conference was that Rare and Silicon Knights were nonexistant. Again I respect Microsoft's decision to focus on 2007 but it tears me up inside. Rare was a developer that was releasing two Triple A titles every year back in the good old N64 days. Now they can't even deliver one game per year. The thing I don't understand though is why this is happening. Rare has 5 development teams or so I hear and they have 3 games being developed as we speak. So what is going on over there? Silicon Knights is also a company that I love. Both their games, Eternal Darkness and Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes were both amazing but that was over 3 years ago. How does a company like Silicon Knights make the same game for 3 years?

But 2008 seems to be a great year. Not only are Too Human and Banjo Kazooie 3 coming out but there is also Fable 2 andHalo Wars which looks amazing. Think Warcraft meets Halo and you get Halo Wars. Its a RTS and the 34 second preview gives me more excitement then Halo 3 itself. Finally, Burnout Paradise will be the greatest racing game ever. Sadly, there wasn't any Burnout shown at the Microsoft Conference but we'll see more at EA's and online so yeah.

Sony - 7/10

- Grand Theft Auto IV

- Lair

- Killzone 2

- Heavenly Sword

- Little Big Planet

- Metal Gear Solid IV

Sony interests me. It's not that they have amazing games but its that they look so pretty. I have no idea how games like Lair or heavenly Sword or Killzone 2 will turn out. Killzone 2 looks really good but you look at Killzone 1 reviews on the PS2 and it didn't do good at all. Heavenly Sword looks like God of War and basically has the same feel as God of War so that game should be good but again who knows. Lair again looks pretty sexy but I've heard that it's not an amazing game. Little Big Planet interests me but who knows....I'd like to havesome time with it.

Finally the only exclusive game on the PS3 that I have to play is Metal Gear Solid IV. Kojima is God...we all know it and Metal Gear Solid is the best story telling franchise ever made. But the thing is that I can always borrow a PS3 off my boss and beat Metal Gear Solid IV in a week. Let's face it - there is no necessity to buy a PS3...yet.

The thing that most interests me is PS3 Home. Home looks like something I'd like to play. Some people like World of Warcraft, I like Home. Home is something that motivates me to buy a PS3 in the future but its too hard to tell now if it will be a huge success.

Graphics wise and maybe even online wise Sony looks like it has the upper hand on Microsoft. I'm pretty impressed with Sony and I hate Sony. God damnit.

Oh also..who gives a crap about PSP...I know I dont.

Nintendo - 4/10

- Smash Bros. Brawl

- Super Mario Galaxy

Nintendo did not impress me at all. I'm sorry but wow......what a total letdown. And it's not that the big surprise was Wii Fit because I like the idea of Wii Fit. It's that...its now a reality that the Wii can not be a PS3 or an Xbox 360. The sad thing is that Nintendo didn't even showcase their games. They didn't even really show trailers or gameplay or anything. They announce a huge blockbuster Triple AAA title like Mario Kart and thats it. No gameplay, no trailer, no nothing. It's just look people Mario Kart is coming with this wheel..yay.

There is only one way I'll buy a Wii and that is because of Smash Bros Brawl. Everything in this game has to be perfect. Gameplay, level design, and especially online. Thankfully, the Smash creators have said that we can use the Gamecube controller - I just don't see myself using a Wii Remote sorry. The updates on Smashbros.com have greatly worried me. All the levels that have been announced are so small and so uninnovated. And finally, the online has to be perfect. It has to be as easy and accessible to play online like Gears of War. There has to be a microphone so you can talk and play. There has to be online lobbies. Please Nintendo don't screw it up.

Top Games

First of all these are the games I am most excited for and not the best at E3;

1, Grand Theft Auto IV - Man I am buying this game no matter what. I didn't have to see a trailer or screenshots to know that I was going to buy this game. Rockstar has never disappointed. I remember growing up and wanting to play a Grand Theft Auto game. It's just in my blood that I have to play all the GTA's and GTA IV is no different. Rockstar won't disappoint and that's final. The story also looks very exciting. I didn't really prefer the 'gangster' storyline in San Andreas but it was fine.

2, Banjo Kazooie 3 - Rare is the best developer of all time in my eyes. Rare has made all of these classics; Donkey Kong Country, Banjo Kazooie, Donkey Kong 64, Diddy Kong Racing, Banjo-Tooie, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Star Fox Adventures, Kameo, and Viva Pinata.I can't wait for Banjo Kazooie 3 but I'm just a bit upset that Rare decided to skip the year 2007. At their prime, they released 2 titles every year and they just aren't doing that anymore. I hope next year is the year for Rare.

3, Too Human - Too Human will be an amazing game as well. It's been in development since the original Playstation where it was suppose to be a 6 Disc game. Silicon Knights has never disappointed me so far. Hopefully this game will get the advertising it needs from Microsoft. Not alot of people know about this title and its a shame. But mark my words, this will be the greatest and most epic trilogy in video game history.

Sony Fans are Hypocrites

Sony Fans are Hypocrites..

They did not complain when Resident Evil 4 came out for the Playstation 2 when Capcom clearly said many times that it was an exclusive to the Nintendo system. Same could be said about Killer 7 and Viewtiful Joe which were also released on the Sony system. I'm not saying Devil May Cry 4 should have been moved but I don't understand why Sony fans are getting all mad. You guys have had the great games for a whole generation when I kept getting screwed with my Gamecube.

So in short, Sony Fans are Hypocrites. They can accept taking exclusives from other systems but they get all mad when they lose one exclusive from Capcom.

5,000 Down - 5,000 to Go

I finally made it to the 5,000 kill mark in Gears of War. I am half way through to get the Seriously achievement. Even though I am working hard to get this achievement I will still continue playing Gears of War for months to come..

Gun-apalooza

So this weekend I decided that I was going to get all of the achievements for one of my games. I chose 'Gun' (which came with my Xbox 360). All I had to do was beat the game three more times..sigh...and collect all the gold. So Friday night I owned Easy mode in 3 hours. Saturday, I finished collecting all the gold and I beat Hard mode which took me awhile longer. Sunday and Monday I worked on Insane mode. Insane mode was tough but I didn't have as many problems as I thought I would. The last level was tough and the final boss was near impossible.

Anyways, when I log in online I will have finally beaten one of my 9 games I own (achievement-wise) for the 360.

Also, Gun is a great game for a rental or a cheap buy. Its obviously not a Oblivion that will keep you entertained for 100+ hours but it does its job..to be an entertaining game for how long it lasts which is 7 hours on Easy with the cut scenes which are awesome and even longer if you do the side quests.

Rented: Call of Duty 2 and Lost Planet

So again I am writing a blog about two games. First off, a World War II first person shooter - Call of Duty 2. A very good game but very hard to beat on veteran. I played it through Veteran on my first time for a challenge and I recieved the challenge. 4 Days later I finally beat Call of Duty 2 on Veteran. I played one game online and it felt similar enough to Perfect Dark and not nearly as good as Gears of War so I didn't play it again. Overall, it was a very well made game and it's too bad Activision picked a different developer for the next game.

Next up, the crapfest...Lost Planet. Do not get hyped for this game. It is a letdown. Not fun online or offline. I highly recommend to not rent or buy this game.

Rented Games: King Kong and Rainbow Six: Vegas

Ok I rented these two games for two different reasons. First of all, King Kong. Easy Gamer Points and I like those quick rent adventure or platform games that you can enjoy. Obviously its not a buy game but it was good for what it was worth..a rent. The other game I decided to rent was Vegas. I've come to realize that all Tom Clancy games suck the big one. But Vegas hit new lows for me. Online was horrible and not fun at all but the real bad thing about Vegas was the single player campaign. You have 5 enemies surrounding you and your ducking and hiding but you cant shoot people while in cover because the bullets fly everywhere. Also, when you get shot once you automatically get killed most of the times. I know you want realism in a game but the line has been crossed. I was playing on the easiest mode and I was getting shot and killed with 1 bullet? Come on......

To Sum this up,

King Kong - Good Rent Game and Easy Achievement Points

Rainbow Six Vegas - Horrible ....soo soo bad...

The Revolution of Gaming is not a convertor for a controller but....

...online gaming!

Online gaming is a necessity these days especially for those households with only one gamer. Shooting, racing, sports, and MMORPGs games online make the multiplayer feel so complete. Yesterday I was at my friends playing Burnout Revenge....SPLIT SCREEN and it was the worse experience in my life. I remember when I was playing Pefect Dark on the 64 with a quarter of the screen. How did I even do that? I have no freaken idea..

Yeah I have nothing against Nintendo and I feel that the controller ( I played Wii Sports ) worked for the most part but its nothing amazing. I'll also pick up a Wii later on because I still like Nintendo when Super Smash Bros Brawl comes out. That is going to be kick ass.. if its not online I hope Nintendo falls flat on its knees because online gaming is revolutionary.

Going back to online gaming, its such a guilty pleasure. Who would of thought chainsawing an American would be so friggin fun or people talking crap gets a sniper bullet in their face? Gears of War does all this on more..online. If Gears of War wasn't online it would have probably be one of the worst games I've ever played. Burnout Revenge is also kick ass online. Racing against people who are actually pretty good and sometimes winning gives you such a good feeling. So yeah...trust me on this..especially Spyrojoe...online gaming is the only complete gaming now a days.
