I love all the handheld Zelda games. Link's Awakening, Oracle of Ages/Seasons, The Minish Cap, and Phantom Hourglass even though (like Twilight Princess) it felt way too familiar. Link's Awakening was the first handheld game I played. The first time I played it I was young and not that good and games so I never really got anything done. I just walked around not knowing how to get to the first temple. However, eventually (after numerous plays) I would find out how to actually play the game. This game is one of my favourite handheld games of all time.

It was very hard picking a favourite between Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country. Both of these games I played to death with my SNES and these were two games I actually beat when I was really young. From here on out on my list, most games are fairly recent (ranging from N64 to 360 eras) so this is basically my favourite childhood game. Everything in it was flawless. Collecting, jumping, and animals to ride. This was the ultimate childhood experience. Most people are either Mario, Zelda, or Metroid Fans but I was more a Donkey Kong fan (even though I liked Zelda).

Twin Snakes is the game that got me into the greatest story telling gaming franchise of all time. To be honest, the only reason I wanted to play this game was because Silicon Knights was developing it and I loved Eternal Darkness. I'm not really a 'stealth' gamer so I don't really play MGS the right way but it's still fun. The story is just incredibly well done and that alone makes it deserving of the spot. Also, I hate the PS1 and I believe it's graphics suck so a remake with improved graphics makes the game way more playable. Also the boxart of the game is just full of win.

Beyond Good and Evil provided the unique and original experience that I really wanted the two Gamecube Zelda games to have. The world, atmosphere, characters and the story were all new and because of it the game didn't feel way too familiar like Wind Waker and Twilight Princess that stuck way too close to its roots. BG&E's gameplay was very similar to the Zeldas and Star Fox Adventure. Overall, this game is underrated and one of the must have adventure games ever.

Super Mario World perfected the 2D Platformer genre. Mario Bros 3 was great but this surpassed it in every way. Yoshi and flying just made this game awesome. It didn't really innovate too much but it stayed close to the winning formula. Again, the last time I played this game was along time ago but I still remember how amazing it is to this day. It is one of my favourite 2D side scroller games to this day.

Probably the most critically acclaimed Gamecube game by the masses. Now I loved this game alot but not to the extent as others. I thought the gameplay was revolutionary but I had many nitpicks about it. Games like Gears of War perfect the over the head TPS. I'm very excited to see what RE5 brings to the table because I'm certain it will blow this game and many others out of the water. RE4 was a great game with a solid story and interesting characters. The graphics were top notch and the experience was breathtaking.

Grand Theft Auto III is the most influential game in the 21st century. It not only created a genre but it was also one of the first games to be both casual and hardcore. GTA III was that game for me that made me want to get a PS2 and it was one of the games that made me love being a gamer. GTA III is a work of art. Some may think it's a bit low on the list and theres a specific reason for that. The GTA franchise is one of my favourite franchises in gaming history. Each game surpasses the one before it and so much is improved on. GTA III was a gateway for Rockstar.

#19

Donkey Kong's first and last amazing visit to the realm of 3D. Rare took the amazing Donkey Kong Country series and turned it into the 3D platformer that is Donkey Kong 64. DK64 works alot like any other platformer on the N64 (Mario and Banjo series). It's gameplay is top notch and theres a great experience to be had. The replay value (collecting everything) gives you so many things to do and the last boss fight is just awesome. Nintendo has screwed up the DK franchise ever since this amazing game.

I was introduced to the Burnout series by a friend. A bunch of friends and myself would get together and play some Burnout tournaments on the PS2 version of the game. When I bought my 360 I saw Revenge for cheap so I picked it up and I actually played through the entire game and went online and competed in a bunch of races. 80 Hours later I've almost got all the achievements and basically completed 100% of the game. Revenge was my first actual racing game (I know its not 'realistic' but hey). I always liked the Mario Kart's but it was Burnout that got me out of a kart and put me in a race car. The Burnout Series is a unique experience. You don't need to like driving or be all into cars to enjoy this game. Revenge is a great party game and has plenty of replay value.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past was that game for the SNES that you just kept playing but you never knew what to do because you were so young. Growing up with my SNES I remember renting this games countless times and slowly getting farther and farther. However, I was too young to know where to go and too young to know about Gamefaqs (if it was even up back then). Fortunately, I would replay this game and complete it a couple times either through an SNES emulator. People always praise Ocarina of Time even though this has the same identical storyline practically. I'm more of a Link to the Past fan but I respect and acknowledge what Ocarina of Time had on the gaming world.

Bioshock is a roller coaster ride. A game that I had no idea what to expect because I had never played the System Shock series. The storyline is top notch even though some argue that the last 1/3 of the game isn't as good as the first 2/3. The backstory of Rapture is captivating and the atmosphere has never been better in any game. Graphics and sound are also great. Bioshock is a thrill ride that should be experienced by all even though it is a tad short.

#23

Goldeneye is probably the best first person shooter ever to grace consoles even though it is surpassed by its "spiritual successor." Goldeneye is a movie game that is actually great and that is uncommon. Goldeneye proved that console shooters could work and Rare mastered the formula in Goldeneye. Goldeneye may be a bit low on my all time list but theres a reason for it.

Before I bought my Nintendo 64, I rented the system and two games. One of the games was Diddy Kong Racing. DKR was a fresh and new experience with an entertaining single player mode that had loads of replay value and an awesome multiplayer mode. It was the first game to feature karts, hovercrafts, and planes and they were all balanced pretty good. Overall, I was never really a Mario Kart fan growing up and that was because Diddy Kong Racing was such an awesome game.

#25

This game brought old school gaming back in my opinion. A 2D Side scrolling game had never been entertaining, quirky and challenging but possible to complete. Viewtiful Joe was a unique experience for me and most of dealt with great gameplay mechanics and the humour brought my the characters.

I never really liked RPG's especially Strategy based RPGs but I really enjoyed FFTA. It was hard as hell and really challenged me as a player but I actually beat the game. This was the first ever and only (I believe) Final Fantasy game I have ever completed to this day. I played this game along time ago so I don't really remember the plot and stuff but this is a must have GBA game.

#28

I had three games on the Gamecube that I couldn't wait to be released. This is one of them. I'm a huge Rare fan and I thought this game was an excellent action adventure type game. I'd put it onpar with great adventure games like Twilight Princess and Beyond Good and Evil. The story was also refreshing and new unlike most recent Zelda games. The graphics were top notch and probably one of the best looking Gamecube games even though it came out within the first year. The gameplay was also fantastic. Most Starfox fans don't really like the game and a lot of people don't give it the attention it deserves but it's still a very fun game.

My Top 30 Games of All Time: #30 and #29

So I haven't had much to blog about lately so I decided I'll finally get to blogging my top favourite games of all time.

Just to let you know. There aren't any SEGA console games (although some remakes), Xbox, or NES games on the list. There are a bunch of PS2, N64, Gamecube, GBA and some SNES and 360 games on my list. I think it's pretty good and most of you will be surprised.

#30

I had so much fun playing this game back in the day. Coop with a friend just made the game even more sweet. I use to love TMNT and most of that love game from this game. Unfortunately I sold my SNES with all my games - biggest mistake ever. For any SNES owner, this is one of those rare entertaining experiences that everybody should enjoy.

#29 and #29.5

I originally just had Rayman advance placed in the number 29 spot but I decided to make it shared between the two great Rayman titles. Rayman Advance was the first and last game I bought for the GBA. Even though I would of necessarily bought more...I rather play them on an emulator for free. Rayman 2: The Great Escape was a game I played because I loved Advance so much which is basically a remake of Rayman 1. Both games have awesome platforming elements and it was beause of Rayman 2 that the franchise has remained strong today.

Army of Two / Lost Odyssey / Metal Gear Solid 4

Alright I haven't been gaming much lately. I did buy Rainbow Six: Vegas but haven't really played it.

Army of Two

I actually really enjoyed the game. However, the coop through online and the multiplayer lagged too much to play. Check out my review for more.

Lost Odyssey

I finally got into this game and it's pretty good. The game just has such a strong emotional side to it. I just beat the First Disk today and I've teared up a couple times. This is the first time I've actually almost cried while playing a game since MGS3. I'll write more of my thoughts on the game and a review when I actually beat it. I hate people who comment on a game or review it when they aren't even done a game because in my eyes it doesn't make any sense.

Metal Gear Solid 4

Since I'm PS3-less I had to watch the game through Youtube. From what I saw...it was an epic game even though I thought the ending wasn't as good as MGS3. I'll have more comments on the game later but its an obvious must buy for all Ps3 owners.
