@xxmavr1kxx: Im not saying death threats are necessarily the right move cause they're definitely not, but SOMETHING has to get their attention and at least this caused them a hassle where they had to close offices. Death threats to companies are always at least a little bit funny cause literally nothing has ever happened, its just cyber bullying with results lol
They absolutely need to reverse this decision either way though. Considering how Steam refunds work as well, this could harm the indie gaming scene in an extreme way for a while. I'd imagine lots of cancelled projects and developers just starting scrambling to switch over to Unreal. People's livelihoods are kind of at stake here, it's pretty bad. It was a really stupid, money-hungry gross move from Unity.
Seems like 2025 and onward really is gonna be nothing but Unreal Engine 5 sadly.
But that isn't even true at all. If you take the exact same build of the game running with and without Denuvo - something like Resident Evil for an example - the game stutters, crashes, and has horrendous frame rate issues that made it borderline unplayable but the second Denuvo was removed it ran near flawlessly.
Providing the media with two copies isn't going to do anything. They're clearly comfortable lying through their teeth so i absolutely wouldn't put it past them to give media a borked version without Denuvo or somehow have it hidden in there or running without online checks but still slowing things down. The best evidence is when somebody from the modding community removes it and the game runs infinitely better. You cant argue with those results.
We're not idiots. Anybody who knows what Denuvo is is knowledgeable enough to know that Steeve Huin over here is about to pull some sneaky nonsense.
@crazknuk: I think it's honestly not for most people. I find it incredibly distracting and annoying, personally. There's a reason the last major movie that was filmed with it was The Hobbit
@blaznwiipspman1: eh nah sorry man. Indie means independent. Cant just slap the indie name on every game thatès smaller than Halo Infinite. By that logic, South Park Stick of Truth (also developed by this same team) is indie.
This game is developed by the guys that made Fallout New Vegas and published by literally Microsoft themselves. This aint an indie game lol
I mean these dudes did come up with fish AI and playing as a mo-capped dog and then went and made a bad Titanfall clone that literally wrote the press f meme
