A source inside Bungie claims that Bungie going independant is a bit of a stretch. The insider (who for obvious reasons wish to remain annonymous), claims that MS is trying to make up for its losses that the XboX division has been costing them. However, MS themselves can't start developing for rival platforms directly, as that would be working against themselves. Enter Bungie. Under the guise of contract, MS retains the rights to the franchise that made the brand: Halo, this ensures that you have to go to MS for Halo.

When asked which platforms Bungie would be developing for, our source stated to expect Bungie games to appear on both the DS and Wii. When asked about the PS3 platform, it was stated that the PS3 base isn't large enough to turn over the kind of profit they'd like right now and that cost of development and development time are too high at this time, but that could change in the future.

While Bungie will retain a majority of profit earned, MS gets a modest % of their earnings on multi-console projects. DS and Wii projects are expected to be released as early as next year's holiday season.

I look forward to hearing a symphony of "Bungie werent that good anyway" from Sheep when they find out Microsoft is making money off Nintendo consoles.

There are still more Halo games on the way. Lets just get this out of the way.

Mass Effect trilogy, Too Human trilogy, Alan Wake, GeoW trilogy, Fable 2, Lost Odyssey, Infinite Undiscovery, and so on. It's going to be a combined effort from a large variety of software. Xbox is no longer the one trick pont.

sexy_chimp

Exactly. The 360 doesn't have to rely on a long string of overused franchises like other systems (Mario, Zelda, FF, MGS, etc). There are so many NEW IP's coming out next year and I can't wait to see how well they turn out.

Yet you guys are all excited for a bunch of Halo spin offs? Stop the pointless flaming. When did anyone bring the PS3 or Wii into this.

I played Halo for the FIRST TIME yesterday because I bought Halo 3. It's a very good game. Don't see myself purchasing any spinoff's.

*NEXT*

[QUOTE="NSR34GTR"]they are still commited to the 360jedigemini
They will go multiplat...there is just more money to be made that way.

They still have to go through Microsoft though, are people just ignoring that fact so they convince themselves they'll get a "real Halo killer" ?

Bungie's track record is small and unproven, apart from the Halo series, obviously.

Their next game could be a complete load of crap for all you know - whcih probably means it'll turn up on the Wii.

[QUOTE="dobbywii"][QUOTE="BambooBanger"]BioShock, Mass Effect, Halo spinoff's, Gears of War, anything by Rare...dobbywii

All of those are 3rd part, and can go to the PC if now already. or another console too. and RARE? please dont make me laugh

What's wrong with Rare ? Perhaps you're just bitter they don't develop for primary Nintendo consoles anymore...

None of RAREs games now touch their games with Nintendos help(EAD) on the SNES/N64.

It's not 1997 anymore, wipe the tears away and let go.

Can't wait for Banjo Threeie btw.

jedigemini, you're taking things out of context.

Again they left for a reason, things werent so rosy anymore. Are you guys Microsoft or Bungie fans afterall?? Bungie can get out of this agreement too in time. they already did the hard part that was to stop being 1st party.

Maybe Bungie wanted room to breathe outside of Halo....

They got to make 1 game every three years and made $300 million last week alone, if thats not Rosy I don't know what is.

Microsoft still wins either way.

[QUOTE="Darthmatt"]Seeing how developing games for MS has made them tons of cash, I dont see why people are taking this as if Bungie will never develop for MS again.dobbywii
multiplatform. Also if Bungie could get out of being 1sr party they can get out of this contract too.

Microsoft still get first say on what they want to publish or not. I love how 360 games go through a stringent quality control process while you get to play the amazing Anubis II on Wii.

"Touch screen controls will feel awkward to Zelda veterans"

yeah. keep on growing fella. time moves on.

Always-Honest

Someone shouldve told Nintendo that as they were designing the Wii's GPU

they were busy inventing something new instead of doing what the others were doing.

I believe motion controllers and remote's had been invented decades ago.
