heh. This thread is a joke, yes? I'd say a better reason for the PS3 is variety. It has games for younger crowds, shooter crowds, and almost any other genre out there. the 360 is more geared toward the hardcore gamers, but also has a few RPG's, and younger games, like Viva Pinata. The wii is mainly for the younger/casual crowd, but also has games like Manhunt 2, RE4, and.. uhh.. red steel? So none of the three can really be called out for specific genres. sure they have their obvious strong genres (except the PS3, it doesn't really have an abundance of any specific genre), but to sterotype/catagorise the systems under these genres is silly.0rin

Uh, I think you'll find the 360 has a MUCH better library and selection of games than the PS3 at this point.

Not trying to be arrogant here, but I am in a position where I can afford all systems, but choose not to on the grounds that the PS3 has absolutely ZERO appeal at the moment, though I'll probably pick up a Wii when SMG comes out.

It's great to own all systems, you get the best of all worlds, but one of the great things about owning one system in particular are the exclusives - the "heart and soul" of a system. That was why I was a Sega-gamer in the past, because I always expected a certain level of quality and style that their plethora of 1st party exclusives pretty much ALWAYS delivered.

Even though I own a 360, this is one thing I didnt really like about Sony or Microsoft joining the industry, because they weren't also games developers and relied soley on 3rd party support, and of course, BUYING franchises, which I still view as a little despicable in an industry whose output can be considered an art form.

But the biggest dissappointment to me this gen is Nintendo. The half-arsed Z:TP Wii port, the distinct lack of quality 1st party titles (although this is soon to be rectified) and letting any old garbage on it's system has cheapened their product and their image.

The Wii is the wildcard of this gen and it's hard to see where it's future lies.

On one hand, the bubble could burst and sales will stagnate in a year or two due to consumers just being "over it", or more enticed by the enhanced graphcs of the 360/PS3.

On the other, the Wii could continue to sell as well as it has been and be a major success, but it'd also be a double-edge sword for Nintendo who will be forced to support the system for much longer than they probably anticipated, less they face the wrath of 20 million housewives.

In any case, it will be interesting to see the outcome.

Cow's need to understand that there is no mythical date upon which the PS3 will suddenly feature games looking 3 times better than 360 games. Sony's incredibly difficult Cell architecture is a slap in the face to the Development Community, and it doesn't bode well for the next PlayStation if the trend continues (just look at how 3rd Party Dev's treated Sega after the Dreamcast).

Regardless of a the PS3's power, alot of Dev's and the majority of Publishers are purely after the $$$$$ and will flock in droves to the console whose software sales have a proven track record - this gen, it's the Xbox 360.
