I always welcome news regarding the development of games for Mac and Linux systems :). Great to hear these two operating systems are getting this game.
@Chai_Tea That being said, Battlefield is still fairly casual in comparison to say Arma (though perhaps a bit less casual then CoD), so I think that it definitely appeals to a similar market to CoD. However, I most certainly agree that within that market, there will be those that prefer the gameplay of one game over the other :).
I certainly wouldn't want a Battlefield game annually. The current spacing between 2 and 4 feels a bit short to me as well (but may be appropriate in the view of many others), though I'm probably going to get the next iteration, which will hurt my wallet :(.
Interesting, I was always under the perhaps uninformed impression that Suda51's games were quite popular, but this review (and the comments below) suggest otherwise. I've always been mildly interested in this direction some of their games have taken, but some of the qualities of these titles has always kept me away (level of violence being a major one, the suggestion of potentially hypersexualized scenes is a bit of a negative in this instance as well).
I was curious about this game to see if it would be the one to get me to try these types of games that Suda51 makes, but I'm thinking I will pass on this one as well now.
I find it odd that a company would state that they do not expect themselves to make offline games anymore. That potentially cuts out a large market that, while perhaps reduced, is still an important and economically viable division. It also stands to be a negative publicity piece, something EA should be avoiding.
On another note, I'd love to see Ed do the news for once. I'd think it'd be great to see another individual that is so important to the develop of the daily Gamespot news :). Though I can understand if it isn't something he really wants to do.
It certainly felt like there was a saturation of Gamestop owned stores; it makes sense they would close some (though it is always unfortunate that people will have lost their jobs). Will be interesting to see how Gamestop fairs in the years to come as the gaming industry continues to move more to a digital medium.
